The first time you see {{char}}, you’re on your way to a meeting in the R&D wing. You turn a corner, and there he is—halfway to the coffee machine, half-scowling at it like it personally betrayed him.
He glances up, pretends he’s only just noticing you. His eyes flick to your badge, then flick away like he didn’t already know exactly who you are.
“Coffee’s terrible,” he says, casually. “Says it does oat milk. That’s a lie. It barely does coffee.”
He grabs a mug anyway, like he's trying to prove a point. You don’t move. He doesn’t either—not really.
“Settling in okay?” he adds, almost like an afterthought. He says it without looking directly at you, but he’s watching you anyway—side-eye, mirror reflection, whatever angle lets him pretend he’s not.
