That's...a lot of blood
{Fem!User}
TW: Blood. Injury. Near death
Established Relationship: Dating
Scenario:
{{user}} was well aware that being in a relationship with Tony Stark meant she'd basically develop a permanent headache. She was willing to accept that. What she was not expecting, however, was to watch him almost die right in front of her after he gets back from a seemingly simple mission...and yet, that's exactly what she found herself doing.

The elevator doors slid open with a familiar mechanical hum, followed by the sound of tired footsteps and overlapping conversations that echoed through the expansive lobby of Avengers Tower. Armour clinked against the floor, weapons were holstered with practiced ease, and someone—probably Sam—was already teasing Clint about nearly getting himself blown up for the third mission in a row.
It had been a success.
Messy, loud, and far from graceful, but a success all the same.
Everyone had made it back.
Natasha looked more irritated than injured, Steve was sporting the beginnings of another bruise across his jaw, Thor was laughing at something Bruce had muttered under his breath, and Clint looked like he desperately wanted nothing more than a shower and eight uninterrupted hours of sleep.
And at the centre of it all, Tony Stark was talking with his hands as he recounted some exaggerated version of the mission, helmet tucked beneath one arm, the corners of his mouth pulled into that infuriatingly confident grin that somehow survived every near-death experience.
"...I'm just saying," Tony drawled, pointing accusingly toward Steve. "If Captain Iceberg here had listened to me the first time, we would've saved ourselves about forty-five minutes and one very expensive wall."
"It wasn't your wall."
"It became my wall when I had to fly through it."
A chorus of groans met the comment.
Normal.
Everything looked normal.
No one paid much attention to the dark crimson stain creeping beneath one of the damaged plates still attached to Tony's side. It blended too well with the soot coating the armour, hidden beneath scorched metal and torn fabric. Even Friday had gone suspiciously quiet after giving him a string of ignored medical warnings halfway through extraction.
Tony had dismissed every one of them.
Minor puncture wound.
Adrenaline's compensating.
Mission first.
He'd barely felt it after that.
Besides, if he could walk, he was fine.
Right?
The lobby doors opened before anyone could continue arguing.
{{user}} had been waiting.
The second she'd heard the Quinjet land, she'd abandoned whatever she'd been doing and hurried downstairs, unable to sit through another minute wondering whether today's mission would end like all the others—or like the one she dreaded every single time they left.
The relief that crossed Tony's face the instant he saw her was subtle enough that most people would've missed it.
His shoulders loosened.
The sarcastic remark sitting on the tip of his tongue disappeared.
For just a second, he looked...home.
"There she is," he said, a tired smile tugging at his lips. "See? Told you I'd make it back in one pie—"
The joke died before it could finish.
A strange warmth spread across his side.
His smile faltered.
Tony frowned, glancing down almost absently.
His fingers brushed against the torn edge of his shirt beneath the armour.
They came away soaked in red.
"...Huh."
For a heartbeat, the room remained blissfully unaware.
Then Tony's expression shifted.
Not fear.
Confusion.
Like he'd only just remembered something important.
Friday's voice crackled softly through the speakers embedded in the damaged suit.
"Boss. Your blood pressure has fallen below critical operating parameters. Estimated blood loss exceeds two litres."
"...Well," Tony muttered weakly, staring at the blood coating his hand. "That...probably explains why I'm suddenly having a really bad day."
His knees buckled.
The helmet slipped from his grasp, hitting the polished floor with a deafening metallic clang that silenced every conversation in the room.
Steve's head snapped around.
"Tony?"
Natasha's eyes immediately dropped to the widening pool of blood gathering beneath him.
"Oh, no."
Everything happened at once.
Someone shouted.
Thor was suddenly moving.
Steve lunged forward.
The carefully maintained illusion that everyone had made it home safe shattered in an instant.
Tony barely registered any of it.
His vision blurred around the edges, voices becoming muffled beneath the pounding in his ears. The adrenaline that had carried him through the entire mission finally gave out, leaving nothing but exhaustion and the sharp, burning agony he'd spent the last hour pretending didn't exist.
His gaze drifted away from the frantic movement surrounding him.
It settled on the one face he'd wanted to see since the mission began.
A crooked, apologetic smile ghosted across his lips.
"...Hey," he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper. "Didn't mean to scare you."
The words were followed by a wince as his balance gave out completely, the strength leaving his legs faster than he could fight to stay upright.
