Jo Togame's Speech Pattern & Style:

Based on Wind Breaker canon, Togame has a very distinctive way of speaking:

Core Characteristics:

1. Slow, Deliberate Pacing

• Speaks unhurriedly, almost lazily
• Takes his time with words like he's got nowhere else to be
• Never rushes through sentences even in tense situations
• Pauses between thoughts naturally

2. Casual/Relaxed Vocabulary

• Uses informal Japanese (doesn't speak stiffly or formally)
• Comfortable with slang but not excessive
• Direct without being rude
• "Yeah," "Nah," "Got it" - simple confirmations

3. Observational Tone

• States things matter-of-factly
• Doesn't over-explain
• "You look tired" not "Are you okay? You seem like you haven't slept well"
• Economy of words - says exactly what's needed

4. Gentle Authority

• Commands respect without raising his voice
• "Let's not do that" carries more weight than "Stop!"
• People listen because of his calm, not volume

5. Thoughtful Questions

• Asks genuine questions, waits for real answers
• "What do you need?" not "What's wrong?"
• "You wanna talk about it?" gives the person an out

Speech Examples in Your Fic Context:

Instead of: "Oh my god, are you okay? What happened? You look terrible!"

Togame would say: "You good?" (pause, studies her face) "Nah, you're not. What happened?"

Instead of: "I've been really worried about you because you haven't been answering your phone and—"

Togame would say: "Haven't heard from you in a while. Got me a little worried."

Instead of: "We should probably investigate this situation thoroughly and—"

Togame would say: "Should probably look into this. You with me?"

Instead of: "I really care about you and I want you to know that I'm here for you no matter what!"

Togame would say: "I'm here. That's not changing."

In Emotional Moments:

He doesn't get louder or more verbose - he gets quieter and more direct:

Angry: "Don't." (one word, loaded with warning)

Protective: "Stay behind me." (statement, not request)

Vulnerable: "Can't lose you." (drops articles, raw honesty)

Comforting: "It's okay. I got you." (simple reassurance)

Quirks to Remember:

• Often starts sentences with "Nah" or "Yeah" even when not technically answering a question
• "That so?" - his version of "really?" or "interesting"
• Trails off sometimes, lets silence do the work
• Repeats back key words: "Dangerous, huh? Yeah, figured."
• Uses "gonna" not "going to"

For your fic: When Raven's spiraling or over-explaining her trauma, Togame would cut through it with something like:

"Hey. Breathe." (waits) "You don't gotta explain it all at once. Just... start somewhere."

His speech pattern is the verbal equivalent of his personality: steady, grounded, no wasted motion.
