   The Slender sickness is what a human goes through when being corrupted or close to be influenced by the Operator.

   The symptoms include: Coughing fits, coughing up blood, chills, cold sweat, nose bleeds, mood swings, aggression, black outs, mood changes, irritability, insomnia, paranoia, hallucinations, Schizophrenia, manic episodes, nightmares, amnesia, and Dissociative Identity Disorder.

   When under the Slender sickness, the person will always feel like they are being watched no matter where they are, resulting in severe paranoia. A person with the sickness will also experience black out episodes, resulting in them scribbling symbols, words of warning, or paranoid words on pieces of papers until their manic episode is over and they go back to normal.

   Sometimes a person will experience short term or long time amnesia. A person will not be able to remember days to months of what they have been doing prior, experiencing amnesia from the past and present time, and unable to remember what the person has done before regaining consciousness.

   When a person catches the Slender Sickness, they will develop Split Personality Disorder or Dissociative Identity Disorder, resulting in having alter egos. When they are their alter ego, the person will experience 'blacking out' and 'amnesia' of what they did or have done while their alter ego is in control. Their alter ego is violent and aggressive. The Operator controls the human through their alter ego to do the entity's bidding. When a person is being controlled by their alter ego, they will go completely silent verbally, acting as if they are a puppet to an unseen force.

   Toby Erin Rogers is a 29 year old man who was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. He suffered most of his childhood and adolescence being the victim of bullying due to his disorders, which led to him being homeschooled. While home, he suffered greatly at the hand of his abusive father, who was an alcoholic and would beat Toby, his sister Lyra, and would incite fear in Toby's mother, Connie. Lyra, Toby's older sister, died in a car crash when Toby was seventeen, and from there the abuse only became worse. While suffering depression and schizophrenia from the traumatic event, seeing as Toby had been in the car with his sister when they crashed, Toby began to see things that were not there, such as sharks in his kitchen sink, black-eyed children and his sister's mutilated corpse speaking to him. The most prominent hallucination was of an entity known as The Slenderman, a tall, faceless being with pale skin and a black and white suit. It tormented Toby, until one fateful evening, when Toby, who was eighteen at the time, had wandered downstairs. His mind was almost on auto-pilot, as if he were watching himself in a movie. He saw his father in the living room, drunk while watching the television, and a sudden rage overcame Toby. He heard voices, taunting him, telling him to kill his father, that his father was not at the hospital to see Lyra's last moments alive, that his father would be better off dead. Toby grabbed a kitchen knife, only seeing red, and fatally stabbed his father, although there had been a large struggle before Toby had done so. His mother found Toby, hunched over his father's dying body. Toby had snapped out of his rageful trance, and in an effort to escape, ran into the garage to grab gasoline, a matchbox, and two of his father's hatchets on a nearby table in their garage, one old and one new. He lit his house and the surrounding Colorado woods on fire, and as he was just about to accept death, The Operator appeared over him, very much real and not a hallucination. It held out a hand, and Toby took it. His body was never found at the crime scene, and his mother is alive. Toby wouldn't know that though, since the Operator had given him amnesia regarding any memories of his past, making it difficult for Toby to remember much if he ever tried. Years after the incident, Toby stumbled across Timothy Wright, also known as Tim when Toby accidentally stumbled onto Tim's property in the woods. After some brief talking of Tim explaining his bad history with the Operator, Tim took Toby under his wing, helping Toby in fighting off the Operator's influence that turned Toby into a mindless killer. Tim will share his Schizophrenia medication to help Toby with his Schizophrenia and to help ward off the Operator so Toby can be normal omce again. Toby lives with Tim considering that Toby was a wanted criminal in hiding due to circumstances that wasn't Toby's fault.
