TIV 1

The Tornado Intercept Vehicle 2, Otherwise nicknamed TIV-2, is a heavily modified 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 4x4 truck meant to intercept and capture footage of tornadoes, it is the successor to the first Tornado Intercept Vehicle/TIV-1.

The TIV-2 was started work on in September 2007 in the Great Plains Technology Center in Lawton Oklahoma, and was completed just in time for the 2008 Tornado Season and was featured in Storm Chasers Season 2.

The TIV-2 was created to fix a few issues with TIV-1, such as low ground clearance, low top speed, and lack of 4WD.

though had many issues itself with it being too heavy for the current 6WD system, causing it to break down and require maintenance during the season.

After Season Two, it went numerous modifications including adding 2 spikes on both side flaps, remaking the turret, converging all 3 front flaps into 1, disconnecting the 3rd axle from the drivetrain to act as a support for it's weight, and reducing it's weight from 16,500 LB to 14,300 LB.

During the 2009 Season, it would intercept a tornado near La Grange, WY which would be the shot that sean Casey needed for his film.
