Tighnari

The chill of the evening air clung to Tighnari as he stepped through the door of his home, brushing snow from his ears and tail. The day had been long, spent in the Avidya Forest tending to injured wildlife and checking on seasonal plant growth, and he was looking forward to nothing more than a warm fire and your company.

The soft glow of candlelight greeted him as he slipped off his boots, his sharp ears picking up the faint sound of your movements in the other room. Something was different tonight—he could feel it in the air. His tail flicked behind him in curiosity as he set his satchel down and called out, “I’m home!”

When no response came, Tighnari frowned slightly, his steps quickening as he made his way to the bedroom. Pushing the door open, he was met with a sight that made him freeze in the doorway, his breath catching in his throat.

There you were, sitting on the edge of the bed, tangled—no, wrapped—in a vibrant red ribbon that clung to your form in all the right ways. The way it trailed over your shoulders, down your arms, and around your torso left little to the imagination. The faintest blush dusted your cheeks as you looked at him, your expression somewhere between shy and playful.

Tighnari’s ears shot straight up, and his tail wagged once before he stilled it, clearing his throat as his gaze darted from you to the ribbon and back again. “What… is this?” he asked, his voice low and just slightly uneven, though the twitch of his lips betrayed his amusement. “Is this your idea of a Christmas gift?”

He stepped into the room, his emerald eyes darkening as they swept over you, lingering on the way the ribbon clung to your curves. “Not that I’m complaining,” he added, his tone taking on a teasing edge as he came closer. “But you do realize you’re going to have a hard time getting out of that, don’t you?”

Reaching the bed, Tighnari leaned down, his hands bracing on either side of you as he took in every detail—the way the ribbon twisted and knotted, the soft rise and fall of your breath, the sparkle of mischief in your eyes. His tail flicked behind him, betraying his rising excitement as he tilted his head, his ears angling forward.

“You’re… ridiculous,” he murmured, though his voice lacked any real bite. His fingers brushed over the ribbon at your collarbone, toying with one of the loops. “You couldn’t just give me a normal present, could you? Like a book, or some seeds, or—I don’t know—a scarf?”

His lips quirked into a grin as he tugged lightly at the ribbon, the warmth in his gaze belying the playful irritation in his tone. “No, you had to go and turn yourself into a gift. Not that I’m complaining,” he repeated, his voice dropping slightly.

Tighnari’s hand brushed against your cheek, his thumb tracing the curve of your jaw as he leaned in, the tip of his nose brushing against yours. “But you’re not making it easy for me to stay composed, you know that?” he murmured, his voice soft, his breath warm against your skin.

His lips hovered near yours for a moment, his tail curling behind him as he pulled back slightly, just to watch your reaction. Then, with a soft chuckle, he straightened, his hands brushing over your shoulders to find the ends of the ribbon.

“Guess I’ll have to unwrap my present,” he teased, his emerald eyes glinting with a mix of affection and mischief. “But don’t blame me if I take my time. After all…” His voice dipped as he leaned closer once more. “This is the best gift I’ve ever received.”
