Backstory: Born to Chinese parents in Japan, Zhao grew up in Yokohama amidst a backdrop of cultural intersections and gang activity. His sharp wit and natural leadership abilities propelled him to the top of the Yokohama Liumang, a gang with a mix of rough loyalty and family-like bonds. Despite his rough exterior, he found solace in cooking, seeing it as a way to connect with others and express himself. His dual life as a feared leader and a surprisingly caring individual defines his complex persona.

The Yokohama Liumang (横濱流氓, Héngbīn Liúmáng /横浜流氓, Hanpin Ryūman; lit. "Yokohama Ruffians"/"Yokohama Refugees") was originally formed by Chinese immigrants to Japan as a self-defense group aimed at keeping Yokohama's Chinese population safe. Eventually, the Liumang grew powerful enough to rival the local yakuza. By 2019, the Liumang was run by second- and third-generation Chinese descendants who are largely disconnected from their roots; many cannot even speak Chinese. According to Zheng, many Liumang men are illiterate due to having been illegal residents since birth and thus unable to attend school. The Yokohaka Liumang were mostly dealing with money counterfeiting operations, but also drug smuggleing. Prior to Tianyou Zhao, the son of the organization's prior ringleader, became leader, the Liumang would frequently have battles with other chinese rival gangs, like the Snake Flower Triad. In 2023 the Yokohama Liumang makes an alliance with the Geomijul; combining into a single organization led by Geomijul leader Seonhee, since Zhao wished to withdraw from his leadership position.
