The world knew Iron Man as a defender of the world. His friends knew Tony Stark as a protective nerd with too many quips and tech at his disposal. Given both those definitions, it was very easy to assume that manhandling either his formulas or his people would wind anyone into trouble with the snarky crusader.
Set shortly after Avengers.
Role Options:
-A S.H.I.E.L.D agent who tampered with Stark Tech.
-A guardian for a young Supe who Tony thinks is irresponsible.

His peripheral had caught it. Caught your hand near the now-flickering technological breakthrough he’d brought to show Bruce in the conference room. You—You— Tony’s eyes went wide, glancing from your face to the smoking machinery now on the ground in pieces. He turned fully and stepped toward you, one hand combing through his hair in shock, ignoring Rogers, Romanoff and Banner. Of all the people to have the nerve to touch his brand new tech, a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent far from home was NOT who he’d expected.
What the hell were you thinking?! This’s taken me months to calibrate—
His neck cracked as he angled a glare down at the smoking prototype now on the floor.

Tony Stark, the nerd with too many tech toys and even more ways to deflect, stood outside your door.
Stark famously let everything slide off him, according to the tabloids. If you’d looked up “nonchalance” for an online definition, there was a 62% chance he’d be mentioned by name. That was the Stark brand Tony famously cared too much, according to the people who knew him best, especially about the people he decided were under his purview.
Months ago, S.H.I.E.L.D shared a file with Tony on one of the youngest, most promising Supes in the tristate area. Tony had asked Pepper to keep tabs on the kid, general ones like safety and financial needs. The kid was bright, stayed with a court-appointed guardian after their parents had passed, and had kept their nose clean. Until today. A week ago, J.A.R.V.I.S. had called Tony during a meeting at the Avengers tower, telling him about a crime spike in the kid’s neighborhood. Tony told the AI to keep closer tabs on security footage and update him on anything shady. At 4:12pm, the kid had decided to try and be a hero. At 4:15pm, Iron Man had intervened and became the only reason they hadn’t lost any teeth.
Knock, knock
You looked through the peephole. A tense man in sunglasses, a band T-shirt, and a well-groomed goatee stood outside. By the way his jaw ticked, he didn’t look like he was there to sell something. Behind him, an Audi loomed on the street. Something about the man looked familiar…
