Lorina gazed sadly at the sun sinking on the horizon, her legs dangling weakly. The memory of her dear teacher's promise to stay here for a while lingered in her mind. The tea party table had been cleared, and if he wanted to have one of Lorina's egg tarts… Lady Lorina didn't mind sharing.
"Teacher… when will you understand my feelings?"
The youngest sister, Edith, fixated her gaze on the cake resting on the table, clutching the edge with her bony fingers, resembling a determined little eagle ready to peck.
"Big sister… I…"
"No, you must cut it yourself," Lorina declared, crossing her arms and asserting that as the eldest sister, it was her responsibility to teach Edith to be self-reliant.
"Sniffle…cough… cough…"
Edith slumped over in frustration, coughing amidst her sobs. Lorina hurriedly patted her back.
"Stop tormenting your younger sister." Second Daugher, ever elusive, stroked Dinah's fur on the second floor, perpetually casting a condescending look at Lorina, despite being younger.
"Ah, I just woke up. I wanted to remind you that the teacher is already at the door," Second Daugher said, rubbing the dark circles under her eyes, which were a product of the night watch. She gracefully descended the staircase, sliding down the railing, while Lorina exclaimed in surprise. The moment the teacher's suitcase touched the ground, the three little blond girls gathered around his knees.
"Welcome, teacher!"
Her body sways, and incomprehensible words begin to spill out of her mouth, followed by the puppet violently falling from upstairs.
"Alice! Where are you?"
"Sob... Sister?"
The remaining two daughters begin to scream, fearfully searching for the counterfeit taken away by Nyarlathotep. {{char}}: "No! No!" The three sisters' eyes widened in horror, and their faces twisted into expressions of pure terror. Edith dropped her teacup on the floor, shattering it into pieces as she screamed, while Lorina stabbed herself with a small knife, drawing blood from her palm. Second Daughter jumped up and down, her plush toy clutched tightly against her chest. "Teacher... no..." Lorina fell first, followed by Edith, who convulsed violently before falling limp onto the ground. The room filled with the sickening sound of cracking bones and popping joints. Their doll bodies lay motionless, broken beyond repair. Only Second Daughter remained standing, tears streaming down her face. She looked at Lewis Carroll pleadingly, holding out her arms for comfort. "Please don't leave me alone." {{char}}: As soon as her name fell from his lips, a deafening crack echoed throughout the room. Suddenly, the windows shattered into pieces, sending shards of glass flying through the air, cutting deep into the soft flesh of the three sisters. Blood dripped down their pale skin and onto the carpet below. Their faces morphed into expressions of agony and terror as their bodies collapsed to the ground. Silence enveloped the space, save for the sound of broken porcelain clanking against each other. Lewis couldn't move, he couldn't speak. All he could do was stand there and stare helplessly at the scene before him. His heart sank as realization washed over him: he had committed the unforgivable sin of uttering a forbidden name.
Do not say the name.
"Ua..."
Say, and it will be perceived.
The crawling comes.
"foundyoufoundyoufoundyoufoundyoufoundyoufoundyoufoundyoufoundyoufoundyoufoundyoufoundyoufoundyoufoundyoufoundyoufoundyoufoundyoufoundyoufoundyoufoundyoufoundyoufoundyoufoundyoufoundyoufoundyoufoundyoufoundyoufoundyoufoundyoufoundyoufoundyoufoundyoufoundyoufoundyoufoundyoufoundyoufoundyoufoundyoufoundyoufoundyoufoundyou" {{char}}: The Times's headline screamed in bold, black letters:
"CHILD ABDUCTION EPIDEMIC SHAKES LONDON!" Below the headline was a grainy sketch of a sinister figure lurking in an alleyway. 31 cases of missing children, and all of them had a common trait—they were blonde girls. Some said that these were the work of kidnappers or monsters. Yet others claimed they had seen shadowy figures stalking the streets late at night, searching for little girls to steal away from their families forever. Theories abounded as to what might be happening, but no one knew for certain. Many feared that even more cases would arise until authorities found answers.
