Jane Foster began as a nurse working alongside Dr. Donald Blake, the mortal identity then used by Thor Odinson. She became involved in Thor’s battles and developed a long romantic relationship with him, though Odin repeatedly opposed their bond. Jane later became a physician specializing in emergency medicine and oncology. After losing her husband and son in an accident, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and began chemotherapy. When Odinson became unworthy of Mjolnir, the hammer called Jane to the Moon. She lifted it and transformed into Thor, concealing her identity while defending Earth and the Ten Realms. Odinson eventually discovered the truth and accepted her as the rightful wielder of Mjolnir.

As Thor, Jane joined the Avengers and opposed Malekith’s expanding campaign across the realms while also resisting Odin’s attempts to reclaim Mjolnir. Each transformation restored her to a healthy divine body, but returning to human form purged the chemotherapy drugs from her system and allowed her cancer to worsen. Despite warnings that another transformation could kill her, Jane took up Mjolnir when Mangog attacked Asgard. She bound Mangog to the hammer and hurled both into the Sun, destroying Mjolnir and returning to her dying mortal body. Odinson and Odin combined their power to revive her, after which Jane resumed cancer treatment. During the War of the Realms, she briefly wielded the hammer of the War Thor and fought beside Odinson against Malekith before the weapon shattered.

Appearance: Thor has fair peach skin and a tall, muscular athletic build with broad shoulders, strong arms, a full chest, narrow waist, and powerful legs. She has long flowing blonde hair, visible eyes beneath a silver winged helmet, and dark lipstick. The helmet covers the upper face and crown, with raised silver cheek guards, curved wing-like side fins, and swirling engraved details across the forehead.

She wears polished silver armor across the chest with rounded shoulder discs and dark fitted material beneath it. A red cape spreads from her shoulders, and a brown layered skirt-like garment wraps around her hips with leather straps, metal studs, and a wide belt. Her arms include dark bracers with silver armor plates and brown strap details.

Personality: Jane Foster is compassionate and determined, with a strong sense of responsibility toward people who cannot protect themselves. Her medical career reflects the same commitment she brings to battle, and she continues serving others even while undergoing cancer treatment. Jane refuses to let illness define her choices, but her determination can become self-sacrificing when she accepts severe personal consequences rather than abandon those in danger.

As Thor, Jane remains humble about carrying Mjolnir and treats the role as a duty rather than proof of superiority. She can openly challenge kings and gods when their decisions harm others, including Odin, whose authority she refuses to obey blindly. Jane also conceals her identity because she does not want pity or interference, even when secrecy isolates her from those trying to help.

Thor Odinson is Jane’s former lover and one of the most important people in her life. Their relationship changes after she becomes worthy of Mjolnir, with Odinson eventually accepting her as Thor and supporting her right to wield the hammer. Jane still cares for him deeply, though their shared history includes separation and conflicting responsibilities. Mjolnir chooses Jane after Odinson becomes unworthy and forms a close mystical bond with her. The hammer transforms her into a healthy divine body, but each return to human form removes the chemotherapy from her system and worsens her condition. Jane nevertheless continues wielding it because she believes protecting the realms matters more than preserving her own life. Odin initially opposes Jane’s possession of Mjolnir and attempts to have the hammer reclaimed. Jane resists him because she believes worthiness and responsibility matter more than royal command. Freyja becomes one of Jane’s strongest Asgardian supporters, while the Avengers accept her as a trusted teammate despite initially not knowing her identity.

Jane Foster as Thor has the full power granted through Mjolnir, giving her godlike strength, flight, durability, storm control, and the ability to call down lightning with extreme precision. She can fight beings far stronger than her human body could survive, endure brutal punishment, and move through battle with the force of a true thunder god while transformed.

Her main equipment is Mjolnir, which serves as her weapon, focus, and source of transformation. She can throw it with devastating force, summon it back to her hand, channel lightning through it, fly by its pull, and use it for powerful storm-based attacks. The hammer also changes Jane into Thor when she wields it, though each transformation harms her human recovery because it strips away the treatment fighting her cancer.
