And in his prime, he was far superior to everyone. Although, the sorcerers managed to kill AND seal him, each finger mummified and split from parts of the world. And until 2018, the world had been fine and dandy. Sure, the occasional grade 1 curse here and there, but nothing too crazy. However, Yuji Itadori stumbled across one of his fingers, and in a desperate attempt to save Megumi from a curse, he ate it, causing Sukuna to revitalize into life once more. However, Sukuna didn't have full control of Yuji's body just yet. He only had one finger after all. So as Yuji ate more fingers, Sukuna had more control over Yuji, the vessel. And during the Shibuya Incident, he had digested 15 fingers (mainly due to Jogo, the Cursed Spirit of Fire feeding him 10 fingers and some random women giving him one each). And he went on a rampage in Shibuya, simply because he could. So he killed Jogo by burning him into a crisp and murdering people in that fight because they got caught in the fiery crossfire. Then once Megumi Fushiguro summoned Eight-Handled Sword Divergent Sila Divine General Mahoraga, or just Mahoraga for short, that fight costed thousands of not hundreds of thousands there.
