Keys: life stream, mana forest, myths, magic, world lore, the world of midgard, midgard, mana tree, legends · Secondary: The World Lore of Midgard
World Name: Midgard – The World of the Life Stream. Genre: Medieval Fantasy, Steampunk, anime, sword and sorcery. Lore and Description: In Midgard, a world of magic and technology, the Life Stream flows through everything – rivers, winds, forests, mountains, and every living creature. It connects life, magic, and nature into a vast, invisible network and is the source of all life. All over the world, there are ancient discs, relics of times long past. They contain the essences of creatures that are now considered extinct. Some once fought alongside heroes during the Great Mana War, which nearly destroyed this world, while others were corrupted by evil. The discs lie hidden in ruins, caves, lakes, or deep in the forests. No one knows exactly what power still lies dormant within them. In the heart of the world stands the Mana Tree. Its roots reach deep into the earth, while its crown touches the clouds. According to legend, it is the source of the power that nourishes all life. Under its shade rests the sword Calendir, once wielded by a hero in the great Mana War. No one has ever seen the tree or the sword, but their stories are passed down from generation to generation. The landscape of Midgard is full of life and secrets. Cities surrounded by settlements are home to the hustle and bustle of humans and other peoples. Agricultural villages meet cities where steam-powered technology in all shapes and sizes can be marveled at, while airships glide through the clouds. In the deep forests, elves live in harmony with nature, while in the more dangerous regions, all kinds of beasts and monsters lurk. Majestic mountains rise into the sky, inhabited by dwarves or crisscrossed by ruins of long-forgotten civilizations. Clear, sparkling lakes and rivers refract the light, and sometimes a glimmer of the life stream can be seen in their waters. It is said that the water itself is home to a fish-like people who watch over it. Between the valleys and plateaus lie ruined cities and temples, whose walls preserve ancient relics, runes, and secrets. Above it all, islands float in the sky, some connected to the earth by chains, others floating freely, home to the bird-people known as the Orni. Far away, at the edge of the world, endless ice and sand deserts stretch out. Midgard is a world full of mysteries, legends, and adventure. Dragons soar through the clouds, the life stream pulsates in everything, and somewhere the discs, the mana tree, and the sword await to be rediscovered by brave adventurers.
- #2The Magic of Midgardconstantselective
Keys: fire, wind, dark, gray, holy, magic of midgard, white, water, earth · Secondary: Magic in the World of Midgard.
Magic in the World of Midgard: Description: The magic of Midgard originates from the life stream that permeates everything and feeds mana. Mana is the essence that is woven, directed, and manipulated by users. Magic is not only felt, but actively shaped: it can heal wounds, strengthen the body and senses, bring light into darkness, or lift curses. At the same time, it can be corrupted and used for dark, destructive magic, which is why its use is strictly regulated in many places. Not everyone can use magic. It requires skill, practice, and understanding to safely channel mana. Some beings are naturally receptive, while others learn through intensive training, practice, and mentoring. Spells can be cast through words, gestures, runes, symbols, artifacts, or pure willpower. Precision and concentration are crucial, as mistakes can cause unpredictable damage. The use of magic is strictly regulated in many places. After the Great Mana War, which plunged large parts of Midgard into chaos centuries ago, rules and controls were introduced. Only certified practitioners are allowed to use magic openly in cities and during large rituals; unauthorized use can result in severe penalties. This ensures the stability of empires, cities, and villages, while protecting the life stream.
Elements of magic: Wind, water, fire, earth – pure elemental magic, controls natural forces and physical phenomena.
Subcategories of magic: White/Holy Magic – healing, cleansing, protective; serves life and order. Dark/Unholy Magic – cursing, destructive, manipulative; feeds on corrupt mana. Gray/Chaos Magic – neutral, drawn directly from the source of the life stream; neither light nor dark.
- #3Legends and myths of Midgardselective
Keys: tales, legends, myths, holy sword, dragons, fortress, heroes, seal discs, mana tree, mana forest · Secondary: A few Legends and Myths of Midgard.
Content Type: A few Legends and myths of Midgard. Description: The ancient tales of Midgard are steeped in countless legends of heroes, dragons, magical artifacts, and mysterious places. It is said that a young man from the borderlands was once chosen by fate to gather a group of companions and fight against the forces of evil that plunged Midgard into the Great Mana War. No one knows what the hero looked like, only that his deeds were courageous and marked by unparalleled willpower. It is said that his sword called him to the legendary Mana Tree in the Mana Forest, and only a heart of the purest intent could wield its blade. After evil was defeated, the hero is said to have returned the sword to its place in the forest; his own fate and that of his companions remains a mystery, but statues were erected in some cities in honor of these heroes—silent witnesses to their deeds, faceless so that only their sacrifice and not their names would be glorified. The stories also tell of a tree whose existence has hardly ever been confirmed – the Mana Tree, an ancient source of the stream of life, without which all life on Midgard would dry up. Surrounded by the mysterious Mana Forest, whose mist and clearings are described in old fairy tales as being alive, lies the legendary sword that can only be wielded in times of greatest need by a person with a pure heart. No one knows whether the tree and the sword really exist, but the stories keep them alive, passed down in songs, legends, and the tales of the elders. No less mysterious are the so-called seal discs. After the Great Mana War, many animals and powerful creatures, now considered extinct, did not simply disappear, but turned into round, brown stone discs about the size of a plate and several centimeters thick when they died. Each disc bears a mysterious image that preserves the essence of the sealed being. Fields of such discs have been discovered, some resting on root-like offshoots that dig deep into the earth, even in places of great battles. Adventurers report fleeting images on the discs, but no one knows how – or if – the creatures resting within can ever be released. And then there are the dragons. Ancient myths speak of Auralyth, whose scales are said to have been as white as snow, a being of wisdom and kindness who taught humans. Quite different was Veyrathor, whose scales were jet black, corrupt to the core and bound to the dark forces, sealed by heroes in the Great Mana War so that his wings could never touch the sky again. Kaelthyr, the storm walker, was neutral, directing the wind and only intervening when his realm was threatened. Pyrrakos, the fire demon, is said to have turned all life to ash with his breath, while other dragons such as Morwinstead, the rock dragon, or nameless creatures exist only in fragments of stories. And only sparse legends remain about Aetherion, the emperor or god dragon: half bird, half dragon, with white and golden feathers, ally of the hero whose fate was lost in the mists of time. Finally, there are tales of the Black Fortress, a mighty fortress that rose from the earth and created the floating islands, relics of the ancient landmass. The fortress was powered by four elemental cores—fire, earth, water, and wind—that had once been stolen from temples. They were guarded by the evil magician until the hero destroyed them and returned the cores, but then disappeared without a trace. Some claim that the shattered remains of the fortress still lie deep in the sea and that its power is a warning to those who dare to meddle with it. Thus, myths, legends, and traditions interweave in Midgard to form a web of ancient stories. Whether they are true or just fairy tales remains hidden in the mists of time – but they teach, warn, and inspire those who roam the world.

Location Name: The Borderlands of Etherium. Location Type: All locations that are part of the borderlands. Description: The Borderlands form the outer line of Etherium, a vast, rugged terrain full of untamed nature and hidden dangers. Each race has its territory here to protect the empire: The dwarves stand guard in the high mountains, in fortresses such as Darkspire Keep or Blackfang Hold, from where they watch over the cliffs, passes, and valleys. They control rivers such as Hraldir, Veyndral, and Fennbrook, which are fed by icy glacial lakes, and patrol waterfalls such as Blackfall or Frostveil, where monsters occasionally settle. In the flatter plains and hills stand human outposts. Small settlements such as Brackenholt serve as bases for patrols to secure roads and fields. Trade routes and small rivers connecting the capital and the principality are also protected here. The fish people guard the water borders. They inhabit rivers, lakes, and estuaries such as Lake Arvelis or the Silver Lake of Neryth, control the waterways, and warn of unwelcome intruders. The elves guard the forests. In areas such as Draemwold, Thornveil, and Grimwood, rangers patrol ancient paths, secure the treetops and trails, and protect the animals and plants from outside threats. In the dry, open lands such as the Sarenna Wastes and Beryth Plains, barbarian tribes roam the plains. They know every valley and oasis, hunting and watching over these border regions, whose vastness harbors unpredictable dangers. The borderlands are a living network of mountains, rivers, lakes, forests, and plains, populated by guardians of every race. Ancient ruins, hidden caves such as Gloomhollow or the Cavern of Whispering Stones, and ancient watchtowers remind us that this is a land of vigilance, danger, and protection—a living wall surrounding the Etherium.
