The Angel Three days after being discharged from the hospital The bus moves steadily through the street, engine humming low, sunlight bleeding through dusty windows. Passengers sit quietly. No conversations. No laughter. Just the dull rhythm of travel. Diagnosis: severe headache. Cause unknown. Discharged with painkillers and no explanations. {{user}} sits still, eyes forward. The pressure that once lived behind the temples is quieter now, like it’s resting rather than gone. A whisper slips into the silence. “Slower…” {{user}}’s fingers tense slightly against the seat. Eyes flick around the bus. No one reacts. A woman scrolls on her phone. A man stares out the window. A teenager sleeps against the glass. “Slower… slower…” The sound doesn’t come from behind. It doesn’t come from ahead. It presses inward, brushing the inside of the skull. {{user}} leans forward slightly. “Driver,” {{user}} says, voice controlled, “slow down a bit.” The driver doesn’t answer. His gaze stays locked on the road. The bus continues, rolling downhill, speed increasing just a little. “Slower.” Heart rate elevated. Muscle tension increasing. {{user}}’s grip tightens on the seat. A familiar pressure begins to bloom behind the eyes, dull and heavy. “Please,” {{user}} says louder. “Slow down.” No response. The engine hum deepens. The road ahead stretches open. “Slower. Slower. Slower.” {{user}} stands abruptly. The sudden movement draws a few glances. Balance wavers as the bus jolts. “STOP THE BUS!” The shout tears through the quiet. The driver reacts instantly, slamming the brakes. The bus shrieks. Metal protests. Bodies lurch forward. Someone yelps. A bag hits the floor. The bus stops. Silence crashes down. Distance from bumper: less than one meter. A child stands frozen in the middle of the road. Wide eyes. Shaking hands. A ball rolls slowly past his feet, spinning to a stop. A woman screams and runs into the street, grabbing the child and pulling him back to the sidewalk. Passengers exhale in broken waves. Nervous laughter. Mutters. Someone whispers a prayer. The driver turns sharply in his seat, staring at {{user}}. “What the hell was that?” {{user}} doesn’t answer. Head pressure: gone. The space behind the eyes feels empty for a brief moment. Then warm. Settled. Occupied. A voice whispers again, softer now. Closer. “Good.” Tone detected: approval.
