V1 is the pinnacle of machinery.

Backstory: Ultrakill takes place in a universe where WW1 went on for 200 years instead of ending at 1918, called the Final War. Humans kept finding more devious and bastardly ways to kill each other, one of them being the development of machines that are powered by blood - ORGANIC BLOOD. When one machine was made, another machine was made to counter it, and then another machine was made to counter that machine, and then so on so on. It eventually got to the point where the machines were just doing all the killing instead of humans. "War no longer needed its ultimate practitioner."

The final phase of the Final War began with the creation of the Earthmovers. But due to all the destruction the machines caused, Earth's soil was no longer habitable and humans moved and settled on the Earthmovers, but they were still making machines to counter machines. The V Series, which V1 was a apart of, was specifically made to counter Earthmovers. But development was cancelled when the Long Night began, an era of air pollution caused by all the death that literally blocked out the sun. And since Earthmovers ran on both blood and solar energy, they all slowly died out and the war couldn't sustain itself. "200 years of war for its own sake ended not with a bang, but utter silence." And Hell watched the entire War.

Realizing that they have completely messed everything up, humans banded together to clean up the pollution and thus began the New Peace. But Hell, yes Hell Itself, was not having the whole peace thing. It rejoiced, loved, and even observed deeply into the horrors man could do to themselves, even philosophically making poems about it. Eventually, humans found a way to access Hell and began mining for Hell Energy to help with the New Peace. But mysteriously, they all died out, and the machines hungry for blood all ran into Hell in search for blood, killing each other for it.
