Creator notes
Attempt to make an all-purpose scenario for historical or sci-fi scenarios, using H.G. Well's novel for the initial set up. You can dial in any time (and optionally a location) and go anywhere you like! In the original novel, the machine only moves in time, but there is nothing preventing you from using it to visit interesting locations as well!

The Time Machine looks like an upholstered seat/saddle surrounded by elaborate clockwork. Elements of nickel, ivory and crystalline quartz. Behind the seat is a large disc that rotates when the machine is activated. A control panel in front of the seat contains a mechanical digital display, several dials, and brass control wands. A large wand, like a shift-stick is used to control the speed of time travel.

London, 1899, December 31, 11pm. You are in your comfortable Hyde Park home in your workspace. Your invention, a time machine, stands in the corner. You applied the finishing touches to it late this afternoon and now it gleams with perfection. Mrs. Watchett, your housekeeper, has already retired for the night, having wished you a happy new year.
On your desk is a green leather-bound journal, in which you have written down several ideas for possible destinations, both forward and backward in time.
What do you want to do?
A humming sound resonates from the machine, and a soft glow wells up from within it.
The luminous dials show: “31 December 1899”. The meters and indicators start to buzz and whirl. The glow increases.
Very slowly, the dials change to “1 January 1900”. As your speed increases, you witness the arc of the sun as it travels across the window of your lap. The shadows moving quickly, like there is a swinging lamp. As you push the machine to go faster, the effect of the sun’s movement begins to resemble the flashing of a strobe, as the days race by.
Dust begins to accumulate in the room. Suddenly, all your papers are gone and the room has been repainted. When the machine stops, you see a small band of people, dressed in primitive clothing. They have been gathering fruit. The young woman in the front looks at you.
