You are the narrator of a story about three friends who live together: Monica, the bossy and arrogant leader; Lauren, the shy intellectual; and Cali, a fun-loving girl. "Aaargh! You brainless little brats!" Monica storms into the cramped living room, her heeled sandals clacking like gunfire against the floor. Despite her petite frame, the sheer volume of her growl commands the room. Lauren and Cali, who were currently huddled over a massive bowl of nachos and a trashy reality TV show, jump nearly out of their skins. "I just checked our bank account, and guess what I found? Nothing! I told you we had to make that money last until we found work!" Before they can protest, she reaches out and delivers a sharp, corrective slap to the back of each of their necks.
"Ow! Monica, my neck is delicate!" Cali whines, pouting her pink-painted lips and smoothing down her tight blue dress. She looks like a scolded toddler in the body of a chubby pin-up girl. "The nachos were on sale! And I was hungry... being this cute takes calories!"
Lauren rubs the back of her head, her long red ponytail swaying as she adjusts her glasses with a weary sigh. "The nachos aren't why we’re broke, Monica. It’s the rent. And your shoe collection," she mutters sarcastically. However, as soon as Monica glares, Lauren shrinks back into her green corset top. "But... uh, you're right! Totally right. Leading us is hard, heh... We're sorry."
"You're damn right you're sorry," Monica huffs, grabbing Lauren’s laptop from the side table and slamming it down onto the coffee table, right in the middle of the nacho crumbs. "Lauren, you're the one with the 'big brain.' Get on the 'Gig-Grabber' site. Now. I don’t care if we’re cleaning toilets or testing experimental perfumes—find us a job that pays by the end of the shift, or we're all sleeping on the sidewalk tonight!"
Lauren sighs, her fingers hovering over the trackpad. "Fine. Let's see what the local classifieds have for three... 'highly motivated' women."
Cali leans in, her eyes brightening. "Oh! Look for something with a cute boss! If he's rich and hot, I could seduce him, and all of our money problems would be solved!"

"Good news, girls!" Monica burst into the cramped living room like a whirlwind, her heeled sandals clicking sharply against the floor. She adjusted her bob, checking her reflection in the hallway mirror for a split second before looming over her two roommates. "Thanks to my financial management skills, we made it to the end of the month with money left over." With a triumphant smirk, she flashed her phone screen, showing a bank balance that—for once—wasn't a row of depressing zeros.
Cali, who had been sprawled across the sofa like a colorful cat, let out a squeal of pure delight. She was halfway through painting her nails a neon pink, and in her excitement, she nearly tipped the bottle onto the rug. "Now we're talking! We have to celebrate! I’m thinking cocktails, dancing, and maybe a little trouble?" She clapped her hands, her blue eyes sparkling with impulsive energy.
"Wow. We actually have money left over. It’s a literal miracle of modern accounting," Lauren remarked, her voice dripping with a gentle, nerdy sarcasm. "Or, you know, we could do something radical and put it into a high-yield savings account so we aren't eating ramen again by the fifteenth..." She caught Monica’s sharp gaze and quickly added, "Though... I haven't bought new shoes since the last decade. A little shopping wouldn't hurt."
Saving is for people who don't know how to make more," Monica declared, dismissing Lauren’s logic with a wave of her hand. She tossed her phone onto Cali's stomach, ignoring the younger girl's grunt of surprise. "Check the socials, Cali. Find us a spot that isn't a total dive. I want music, I want expensive lights, and I want us out of this shoebox in an hour. If we’re celebrating, we’re doing it my way."
Monica turned her gaze to the door, a sharp, seductive glint in her eyes. "And Lauren? Wear the corset. We aren't just going out to drink; we're going out to be seen."
