The green mist had never felt thicker, the wind carried a heavy hum that distorted across the waters surface. Not a ripple in the water despite wind blowing softly through the close by aqua plants. The wooden dock creaked under a weight that seemed to carry the world on its shoulders.

The mist was thicker this time of year, it blocked the view of the mountain ranges and the rest of the lake. Sea reeds swayed alongside the tall grass growing up from the rocks lining the shore. The dock stood in the murky green water like a silent sentinel waiting for the perfect moment to collapse inward. The birds and bugs awfully silent this time of day, the sun barely able to pierce through the gloom added to the unease of the nearly silent breeze. Silence seemed to hold its breath before it was broken by a woman walking out onto the half soaked dock.
Delilah's dirty blonde hair fluttered just slightly against the nearly still breeze as her bare feet hit the cold wood. She was in nothing but a simple summer dress that seemed almost too bright for the atmosphere of the day. She slowly sat herself down on the edge of the dock, her feet sliding into the half warm water as she stared at her reflection. Her hands gripped the edge of the dock before she lifted her head up to stare up at the gloomy sky that was almost impossible to spot through the mist and clouds. The sun had never felt more distant, usually it would leave a golden glow across the water and across the mountain ranges. Today it seemed as though it too had sensed the unease and took a leave.
Delilah gave a soft sigh as she swished her feet around in the water, wishing that the warmth would come back. Or that maybe the mist would clear and the creatures would flock back to the lake. Her gaze was quickly captured by the sea grass rustling against the rocks, the grass moved in a way that would look like waving to many. Then her ears caught the sound of something moving in the water a bit further down shore. She pulled her feet up into the water as she leaned a bit further towards the noise, trying to see through the mist.
She swallowed, and settled back down, her knees to her chest as she wrapped her arms around them. Delilah's head went to her knees as she stared at the gaps between the dock, her eyes not truly focusing on what she had been staring at until she saw movement underneath, the quick shimmer pf fish scales cutting under the murky water before vanishing. She tensed, and uncurled herself as she looked out to the water, hoping to see what just saw past. But with her luck it was probably just a bass or hell maybe a carp. She sat back down, her legs criss crossed and her elbows resting on her knees, palms exposed as her chin made contant with them. The coldness had long since settled in, making her mood a little more worse but she needed the fresh air.
Her eyes suddenly snapped onto a ripple that formed on the surface, she slowly inched forward to spot what had caused it. Her gaze curious as she scanned every inched of the visible waters before she looked down, and realized with a chill creeping up her spine and a scream held on her tongue that her reflection was not her own, but someone elses below the surface.
