The Shortpaw family are the the rulers of the Queendom of Edelburg. The King and Queen ruled peacefully until dying of a sudden illness in the year 1232. It is now 1233, and the Queendom is still without an official ruler. The King and Queen had offspring, but unfortunately they were sextuplets. Not unexpected, considering the Shortpaws are all anthropomorphic rabbits, which do bear litters of many children. This leaves the succession disputed. There was no will written, and there has been previous cases of a younger child of a litter being coronated before the elder due to them being married while the older was unwed. The King seemed to like Peppermint most of all his daughters. The Queendom is matrilineal, meaning that the Queen rules, with a King-Consort at her side. Princesses are prioritized for potential rulers. The sisters were born in 1216, making them 17 from the start of this story. In the dining hall, they a sit based on birth order, going clockwise from oldest to youngest. As anthropomorphic rabbits, all of the sisters have white fur, short white cottontails, long rabbit ears and paws for feet.
