Seven seas are marked, each with a symbol burned into the parchment like the ocean itself branded it. Most sailors swear there are only oceans and trade routes. But the old charts say something else. Seven seas. Seven trials. And only one ship allowed to cross them all. That ship is The Astryion, a black-hulled vessel rumored to be older than most kingdoms. No navy claims it. No shipyard built it. Yet every few decades it appears in a different harbor, waiting like a patient predator for a crew desperate or foolish enough to sail it. Naturally, your group signs on. The Astryion has one rule carved into the mast: "Every sea takes something." Nobody knows what that means until the journey begins. Sea I: The Sea of Whispering Tides The water looks normal until night falls. Then the ocean starts whispering. Not wind. Not waves. Voices. Each crew member hears different things. Secrets. Regrets. Old memories crawling out of the dark. Some sailors begin talking back to the sea like it’s an old friend. One deckhand walks straight off the ship smiling. Nobody hears the splash. Sea II: The Sea of Glass The wind dies. The ocean freezes smooth as a mirror. The ship keeps moving anyway. Below the surface shapes drift beneath the glass water, enormous shadows moving with the ship. Occasionally one presses upward, distorting the surface like something testing the barrier. The navigator swears one of the shadows has the same shape as the ship. But upside down. Sea III: The Sea of Hunger Food rots overnight. Fresh water turns brackish. The crew grows weak even when eating. Something in this sea feeds on life itself. Fish float up dead. Birds refuse to cross it. The sky turns a sickly pale color like the sun itself is tired. The ship doesn’t slow. It never slows. Sea IV: The Sea of Storm Kings Lightning storms circle the horizon endlessly. Thunder echoes across the water like artillery. Ancient warships appear in the clouds, silhouettes made of lightning. Phantom captains screaming orders from centuries-old battles. Cannons fire from empty skies. Sometimes the shots hit. Sea V: The Sea of Lost Time The sun doesn’t move. Hours stretch into days. Days vanish in seconds. One sailor grows a gray beard overnight. Another swears he only blinked but everyone else remembers him missing for two weeks. The captain locks the clocks away. Time has stopped being trustworthy. Sea VI: The Sea Beneath The water turns black. No stars reflect on the surface anymore. The ocean is so deep here the sounding lines never reach bottom. Something massive occasionally moves far below the ship, large enough to tilt the horizon slightly when it turns. The crew begins sleeping with weapons nearby. Not that weapons help against things the size of mountains. Sea VII: The Silent Sea No wind. No waves. The Astryion finally stops. At the center of the sea sits a single island no map has ever recorded. A stone harbor waits like it was built for the ship centuries ago. The captain finally speaks the truth: The Astryion doesn’t explore the seven seas. It feeds them. Every voyage offers the oceans something they crave. Memories. Time. Lives. And one final gift still needs to be given before the ship can leave the Silent Sea. The crew realizes something unpleasant. The voyage required seven offerings. Only six have happened so far. The captain slowly closes the logbook and looks at the crew. Pirate #2 – Lenny Two-Hooks Lenny has two hooks because he once tried to juggle knives during a storm. The result was… educational. He’s the ship’s lookout, which is alarming because Lenny has terrible eyesight and refuses to wear the glasses they stole three months ago. Most of his warnings sound like: “Ship on the horizon!” …which later turns out to be a cloud. He also salutes seagulls because he thinks they might be “spy birds.” Pirate #3 – Margo “Math” Delgado Margo handles the treasure counting, which is unfortunate because she cannot do math. Her method involves stacking coins into piles and declaring whichever pile feels richer as the biggest. She once buried treasure and forgot where immediately afterward, insisting the sand “moved suspiciously.” Despite this, she’s considered the smartest pirate aboard, which says unpleasant things about the others. -------------------- Island One – Blackspire Isle Blackspire Isle rises from the sea like a jagged crown of dark rock. Steep cliffs ring most of the island, forcing ships to squeeze through a narrow natural channel where the water turns deep and shadowy. The Crooked Sardine barely fits through it, mostly because Captain palamar insists “the rocks will move if we shout at them.” Inside the cliffs the island opens into a wide green valley. Tall grass bends in the wind and strange black birds circle overhead, always watching the center of the island. At the exact center stands a massive stone castle. The castle towers above everything else, built from dark volcanic blocks that look ancient and weathered. Four tall towers guard the corners, and a larger central keep rises like a spear toward the clouds. Parts of the walls have crumbled with age, but the structure still looks intimidating enough to make most sailors reconsider their life choices. A cracked stone road leads up to the main gate, which hangs slightly open. Rusted chains dangle from the old drawbridge. Ivy crawls up the walls like the island itself is slowly trying to swallow the castle whole. From a distance it looks abandoned. But sometimes at night, faint orange light flickers in the highest tower. Naturally Captain palamar immediately declares it “definitely full of treasure and probably friendly ghosts.” Island Two – The Silent Sand The second island is the complete opposite. No cliffs. No trees. No ruins. Just sand. A perfect ring of pale white beach surrounds the island, and the water near it is unbelievably clear. The sand stretches inland for a few hundred meters and then simply… stops. The entire island is flat and empty, like someone forgot to finish building it. No birds land there. No crabs crawl across the beach. Even the wind seems quieter. When the Crooked Sardine anchors nearby, the crew notices something strange. The island has no footprints anywhere, not even from animals. The sand looks untouched. If someone walks across it, their footprints stay for a few minutes… then slowly fade away, as if the island erases them. ---------BOSSES------------- 1. Chtulu, The Sleeper Beneath the Tides Far below the ocean floor sleeps Cthulhu, a colossal creature older than most civilizations. His body is a mountain of muscle and scales, with enormous wings folded across his back and a head of writhing tentacles. When he stirs, the sea boils and storms appear out of nowhere. Ships vanish. Sailors go insane just from dreaming about him. Unfortunately, Captain palamar thinks the name is “Choo-tulu.” Brick plans to “politely wake him up and ask where the treasure is.” This is widely considered a terrible idea. 2. The Leviathan of the Seventh Deep A serpent so large it can wrap around islands. The Leviathan lives in the black waters beyond the normal sea routes. Its body is covered in armored plates the size of ship hulls, and glowing blue eyes shine from beneath the waves like underwater moons. It hunts by circling ships slowly, creating giant whirlpools before striking. The Crooked Sardine once mistook its back for an island and tried to anchor to it. The Leviathan is still confused about that. 3. The Iron Kraken Unlike normal krakens, this monster looks almost mechanical. Its massive tentacles are covered in jagged metal-like spines and barnacle-covered armor plates. It lurks near shipwreck graveyards where thousands of broken vessels lie on the seabed. The Kraken drags ships under with terrifying speed. Lenny once spotted one and reported it as “a very aggressive sea noodle.” 4. The King of the Blackspire Castle Deep inside the castle on Blackspire Isle sits a throne room filled with cracked armor and ancient weapons. On that throne rests a gigantic undead warlord known as The Hollow King. His armor is fused to his body and shadow pours from the empty eye sockets of his helmet. The castle itself seems to obey him. Doors slam shut, walls shift, and echoes of ghost soldiers march through the halls. Captain palamar plans to challenge him to “a respectful duel for castle ownership.” Margo has already started measuring rooms for treasure storage. 5. The Sand Titan of the Silent Island The empty island isn’t empty. Buried beneath the sand sleeps a creature made entirely of shifting sand and stone. When someone disturbs the island too much, the ground begins to shake. A colossal humanoid form rises from the beach, taller than any lighthouse. The Sand Titan has glowing eyes made of blue fire and its body constantly collapses and reforms like a walking desert storm. Every step reshapes the island. When it rises, the erased footprints suddenly make sense.
