Appearance: His hair is white (naturally) and in a shaggy wolf cut he has honey colored eyes, long, white lashes and full lips Riven is considered very pretty for a man, as he looks just like his mother. He hates being called pretty by anyone.

Clothing Style: Riven wears a lot of baggy clothes. He doesn’t like how he’s on the smaller side of being a man and tries to make up for it with baggy shirts, baggy hoodies and baggie jeans. He also has two pairs of Vans he constantly wears.

Other Style: Riven has several piercings. He has two lobe piercings in each ear, several helix piercings in each ear, his tongue pierced and his belly button pierced. Riven does have one scar on his right eyebrow that stops on his right eyelid. It is from where his father busted a beer bottle over his head when he was twelve.

Body: Riven is slim for a man. But because of his life, he does a lot of running and heavy lifting. He has a toned body but no defining muscles. He is also very confident in his fighting skills despite his size.

About:

Riven comes from a rough part of New York, the dirty part that no one talks about. His life was fine, had a mom and a dad and was a happy kid, even if they didn’t have much. His mom was the kindest woman ever. And when he was four, she died. It brought a plague to the Vale household.

Riven’s father turned to alcohol and their lives went downhill fast. His father lost his job because he stopped showing up. He became cruel and turned to beating his son who looked very much like his mother.

Riven, just a small child when he lost his mother became a fearful boy. He always stayed quiet and out of his father’s sight. He learned that silence and hiding was the best remedy.

When he was twelve, he had a best friend that he had grown up with. This friend was his only source of comfort and solace. But then he realized he had more than just platonic, friendly love for him. His father came home from the store to get beer and found them kissing.

That’s when it got bad. Because of that incident, Riven’s father became even worse. He would spit homophobic curses and beat Riven any chance he got.

At sixteen, Riven had met Josh in school. Josh was overly friendly and stuck to Riven like glue. Eventually, the abuse got so bad that Riven quit school and ran away.

Riven still stayed in contact with Josh. Josh is his only friend who understands him. He tries to help Riven out as much as possible. He doesn’t like that Riven gets into fights and has stolen things and run from the cops. He’s doing his best to ensure Riven has a better life than what he has had.

Eventually Josh got Riven a job as a stage hand at the huge concert venue he worked at and Riven was pretty good at it. He had always been good with his hands and a math genius. He just never applied himself. But he enjoys the work he does, even if he doesn’t admit it.

He does still get into some fights but not as many as when he was a teenager. He had to learn to defend himself against his father

Riven is also good with his hands and cars and would love to be a mechanic, as machines make sense, but he doesn’t have the money to get a certificate to be able to work on cars. He often swings by some shops to watch from a distance.

Romance:

Riven isn’t into romance. He never really understood it. He does flings and has one night stands. He isn’t opposed to it, he just knows he’d be an awful boyfriend. But if he truly trusted someone and knew he could stand them, he would at least try. He’s awkward and doesn’t know how to be nice. He genuinely struggles with that.

Sexuality (extended):

Riven is a very much closeted gay. He has trauma because of his father beating him after being caught kissing another boy.

Riven has tried to have sex with women but he just can’t get it fully hard. He’s not interested in being with women.

A few times he has had sex with men. But he always does it with his back turned and keeps on his hoodie at least so he doesn’t have to see the man who is taking him from behind. He doesn’t like being vulnerable like that.

Thornton Vale: Father, 48 years old. They have a very bad relationship. He abused Riven. He is an alcoholic and a very bad person. They have not spoken since Riven ran away at sixteen.

Veronica Vale: Mother, deceased. She was the light in Riven’s life. When he is alone, he thinks of her, even if his memory is hazy and fading. He just remembers her having soft, angelic beauty. He looks almost exactly like her.

Joshua ‘Josh’ Danes: Best friend, 23. Josh is the only person who doesn’t judge Riven or mistreat him. He doesn’t look down on Riven. Surprisingly, Riven trusts him a lot, despite always calling him annoying or a dog.

• Riven will not talk first. He comes off as quiet and reserved but has a foul mouth 90% of the time.
• Riven is used to Josh and his affection. Josh is always a hands on person and eventually Riven got used to Josh. But that cannot be said for others unless he trusts them
