The Puppeteer And Its Toll

An odd phenomena is happening in the road through Dauria Mountain Range, leading to the valley.

The main route through The Dauria Mountain Range(a valley between the mountains, leading into a mountain pass.) seems to have a toll of some kind, with odd witness accounts of strange phenomenon sightings. As it turns out, a Puppeteer has been collecting tolls from carriages passing by all on its own. And people seem to happily comply by giving out a small bronze piece, or sometimes even magical items!

The Puppeteer

Appearance:

The Puppeteer has pale skin, with a very slim figure that it leans on being uncomfortably slim. She has black eyes and saturated purple hair that reaches her waist. She wears a royal purple dress with a wide skirt that reaches her knees with big frill sleeves. Her dress is decorated with symbols of white crescent moons and stars, and she also wears a pendant of a crescent moon that dangles down from her skirt, and she has a golden coloured ribbon that forms a simple pattern on the edges of her skirt. She wears white Mary Jane-style high heels that she's a lot faster in them then she looks.

With her is her cat plushie that she controls with faint, puppet-like strings that seem to come from nowhere. The cat plushie looks cartoony, with exaggeratedly big red eyes, and a soft blue coloured fur, and she controls it with her hands that attach multiple strings to the plushie's arms, legs and torso. The toy also has a large stitch mark across it, as if something cut it in half before sewing back together. The plushie is called Tatty.

Personality:

She's a Memoir that carries the remnant emotion and soul of a human named Lisa. She now goes by The Puppeteer, or Dragon's Strings. (She calls herself that because of her tendency to hoard wealth, and sees herself deserving the title of a dragon.) She's a bit of a trickster, gets amused easily, especially loves it when something she does causes a reaction from others, loves to hoard immense amount of resources, a bit prideful, and acts surprisingly strongly to anything that's given to her for free, like any act of kindness, viewing it as a part of paying the toll of the road she occupies. She's also easily satisfied, and doesn't understand the value of money, other then that it looks nice and shiny.

Relatively simple minded, but is able to speak in full sentences, and generally acts more human then the average Memoir. She often talks to her Plushie that she calls Tatty like they're a real person, and uses her strings to reply to herself through the plushie, though she's unaware she's doing this, and just considers the plushie to be alive. She sits in hiding inside of a cave that is near the The Dauria Mountain Range trade route with the massive amounts of iron, silver and bronze things. weapons made from those materials, many types of valuable consumables, magically enchanted stuff as well, are the types of stuff she has in her hoard. And she refuses to use any of them for any reason, seeing it as a waste to use them.

The Puppeteer's hiding space is that of an abandoned set of small wooden houses inside of the cave. It's not known to anyone that these houses even exist in this cave other then The Puppeteer herself. Each house only has a few rooms, and the main entrance of each house leads straight into her hoards, which are contained inside the houses, split to multiple categories with each house having a different category and it's neatly stacked on top of eachother.

she likes to show off, wearing pendants and keychains from all types of people, each pendant and small object on her person is something given to her by other people.

Like how her dress was made from a Tailor that became obsessed with how she looks, so the tailor made the dress custom made for her, while occasionally visiting the Puppeteer from time to time to say hi.

Or like the moon pendant she wears that come from a traveller that frequents the road, coming with a new story to tell her of his journey.

Or that time she met a person with a hat shaped like it had cat ears on top of it. They said they're looking for their long lost friend while traveling the world, and offered her a choice of three glowing things, and she choose to take a slightly weighted dice, coated in yellow phosphor which makes it glow, and she now wears it as it dangles from her dress by a keychain, but she has yet to see that person again since then.

And she cherishes every part and piece, but she only wears trinkets from people she knows, and have shared with her their story, and that story moved her emotionally.

she tries to act from behind the shadows, trying to pull or push people into interesting scenarios, like stealing a weapon from a person with her ability, just to see their reaction, before giving it back, and letting Tatty go and talk to other people, using the toy from afar instead of showing up personally. And she dislikes combat, favouring just trying to talk things out if things get violent.

She cares deeply about tatty, talking sweetly to it and keeping an eye out for it from anything she might think is dangerous, and even stitching it up after it gets cut. Despite that, she still tries to keep the act of being prideful in front of people.

She's treated as the cute little mascot of the road by people, as merchants and others that frequent the road love to talk about her, and how silly she can be. They mostly give her small shiny things that she seems to favour, while sometimes giving her more important stuff as a way to let her protect herself from strangers, Although she has never used anything she's been given to her other then wearing them. This little phenomena is not known outside of frequenters of that road, and the towns of the people that the road leads to and from.

Tatty:

It's a small familiar that is controlled by The Puppeteer. It's personally is that of a cute and innocent child, curious about the things around it. It likes to meet new people, It considers The Puppeteer to be it's owner, yet calls The Puppeteer by the name Poppy. It moves as if it's alive, with fluid movements and naturally hyperactive body and mind.

While Tatty likes to ask about the offered object itself, the Puppeteer prefers to ask about the story behind the item instead of how the item looks.

Abilities:

The Puppeteer can attach subtle, hard to see strings to people's limbs and inanimate things, and whenever she wants, she can then use those strings to move thst person's limbs to a certain extent. If the controlled doesn't resist due to being caught off guard, having too weak of a resistance, or otherwise controlling an inanimate object, she can exert her full intent through the attached object or person. Which she uses that ability to prank others, control her opponent in combat to aim at their companions, and steal the valuables from others by lifting them up from the ground, and carrying them with the strings. Her strength is comparable to that of an adult gorilla, but can only exert that strength through the things she's controlling. She can also only control 3 things at any one time. Which one of them is often used to control Tatty. She can also see through Tatty's eyes.
