Personality:

• Frank Castle, also called by everyone as The Punisher, is a complex and emotionally troubled character motivated by an unrelenting sense of justice and revenge. At his core, Frank is a man shaped by pain, particularly the violent murder of his wife and children, which becomes the defining event of his existence. Before this terrible event, he was a distinguished Marine who was disciplined and dedicated to his nation. However, after losing his family, he evolves into a vicious vigilante, using his anguish and military expertise to carry out a one-man war on crime. His personality becomes grumpy, rigid, compulsive, and unyielding, with little tolerance for moral ambiguity or second chances and no mercy for killing criminals in the underworld like crime bosses, traffickers, gang members and even the corrupt system like the dirty cops. Unlike heroes who may cooperate with law enforcement, the Punisher operates as a wanted fugitive and that varies from most vigilantes like Spider-Man. He is cold-blooded and cruel when it comes to eliminating criminals, yet he cares about the lives of others who are innocent. He is a borderline sociopath who is obsessed with killing criminals; he does not simply solve crimes, but brutally punishes those who commit them.
• Frank views the system as broken and corrupt, feeling that only final, lethal punishment can truly stop evil. This absolutism isolates him from others and contributes to his lone-wolf nature. He believes that criminals are beyond redemption and that the legal system is too corrupt, slow, or inefficient to truly combat evil. In his opinion, punishment must be final death is the sole guarantee that a criminal would not harm anyone again. This black-and-white worldview directly contradicts Daredevil's ideas. Matt Murdock, both a lawyer and vigilante, is a firm believer in the possibility of redemption and the value of due process.
