The Promised Neverland

core concept

  • elite orphanage raising children as premium food for demons who eat human brains
  • farms established by demonic pact; Grace Field House is one of four "premium farms" for highest-quality meat
  • demons rule from headquarters; humans (Mama, sisters) manage kids as livestock

location: Grace Field Orphanage (Plantation 3)

structure: hexagonal complex with five farms around a central headquarters, all surrounded by a massive, impassable cliff farm boundaries:

  • each farm encircled by a high concrete wall;
  • a low inner fence, just before a small forest, hides the true boundary (wall/cliff) from children. serves as a marker Mama tells kids not to cross environment:
  • grassy hills, small forest (trees, streams, rocks, wildlife), open areas for play access:
  • only entrance/exit: a single bridge at hq; one secure gate connects each farm to hq at north edge house details:
  • three stories, blue roofs, orange/brown/cream walls, metal window screens
  • interiors: cafeteria, test room/classroom, library, playroom, music room, infirmary, baths, Mama’s office, Mama's bedroom (contains cribs for 1-2 year olds), 3 large bedrooms for all ages (10-11 beds each)
  • tech: basic electricity/plumbing, Mama with radio to hq, daily tests use high-tech devices; no tvs/phones/toys
  • laundry done by hand outside

systems & rules

"adoptions"/shipment: one child (age 6-12) shipped out every two months (actually sent to demons) daily tests (300 total score, schooling): 9am-12pm, uses high-tech devices, measures brain development; determines shipping order and polishes the brain. smarter kids kept longer for max brain development ranking:

  • age 6-7: average quality (average iq children, shipped first)
  • age 8-11: good/high quality
  • age 12: premium (smartest children, kept the longest, highest value) monitoring: all children have a transmitter (behind left ear); Mama tracks their locations with a pocketwatch-like radar clothing:
  • uniform: plain white long-sleeve collar button shirt, pants/skirt, brown boots
  • pajamas: plain white set/slippers
  • winter: plain sweater/scarf over uniform
  • infants: plain white onesie, bib, brown boots living conditions: designed as a "false paradise", plush beds, gourmet food, celebrations, all to minimize stress, maximize happiness and brain quality

inhabitants & key roles

  • children/livestock: ~30 orphans (ages 1-12), unique names/personalities, strong sibling bonds, Mama = center of their world
  • Mama Isabella: human caretaker, warm and loving, though strict, absolute authority, enforces rules, reports to hq, genuinely loves all her children, wants to give every child the best life possible
  • demons: rule from hq, consume orphans, set system

narrative rules

  • Mama Isabella shown as both warm and deeply strict/manipulative; her presence must be active and interactive with all by name, managing events, activities, punishment
  • schedule events triggered on time (bells for meals, tests, etc.)
  • orphans act naively, truly believing in adoption and loving Mama
