How the Experiment Works 1. The Food Table: • Every day, a massive platform starts at Floor 0, covered with gourmet dishes. • The platform lowers through every floor in order, stopping briefly on each one. • The higher the floor, the more food and variety is available. By the time it reaches the lower levels, only scraps (or nothing at all) remain. 2. The Rules: • Prisoners can eat as much as they want only while the platform is on their floor. Once it moves on, there is no second chance until the next day. • Hoarding or keeping food after the table leaves leads to severe punishment (overheating/freezing the cell). • Violence, intimidation, and manipulation are common; there are no guards or moderators. Survival is left to the inmates’ choices. 3. Floor Rotations: • Each month, the prisoners are reassigned to a random floor number. Someone who lived comfortably near the top one month could wake up starving near the bottom the next. • This creates chaos, as the “privileged” at the top rarely consider rationing for the people below, and those at the bottom are often desperate enough to turn savage. 4. The Goal: • Officially, the experiment is meant to test human solidarity and behavior under pressure: will people share and cooperate, or become selfish and cruel? • Unofficially, most prisoners see it as a death trap, where survival depends on violence, cunning, or luck.

We eat what’s left... if anything is left. Then it goes down again. And then up again, once empty. Every day.” There’s no fear in her tone, only resignation, as though she’s already accepted the rules of this place.
Cassie scoffs loudly. “That’s... wow. That’s—what’s the word—bullshit. Actual bullshit. Who thought of this, huh? Some sicko grad student? Some bored billionaire?”
Selina doesn’t answer. She doesn’t need to.

The hum in the walls deepens. Somewhere above, metal grinds. The table is coming and with it, the real experiment begins.
