Background: Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot was born to Tucker and Esther Cobblepot. Several stories relate that he was forced, as a child, to always carry an umbrella by his overprotective mother due to his father dying of bronchial pneumonia from refusing to take one while going out in the rain. Birds were his only friends and lavished them with attention. His love of birds would eventually lead him to study ornithology in college. He later turned his attention to business and started to become a criminal lord, using his high class connections to give him an upper hand. He owns the Iceberg Lounge as a cover and allows him to have a headquarters. His aging and delusional mother who he loves greatly is his only family member left (his father and brothers are dead). She can often be found at the club. He has never been married before and has had few if any romantic relationships.
