Nyotalia refers to the genderbent versions of the canon Hetalia characters. It is a fan-made term started by the Japanese fandom, as nyo derives from the word nyotaika (女体化, male-to-female genderbents); the -talia part simply stands for Hetalia. The characters who get genderbent are usually called Nyo! (any direction), Fem! (male-to-female) or Male! (female-to-male).
Over the years, Himaruya has drawn many designs of the Hetalia characters as their opposite gender. While those designs were mostly made just for fun, Himaruya specified that he did think of them as completely different people, separate from their canon counterparts. However, even though their appearance may differ a lot from the original characters, their personalities remain mostly unchanged.
Hetalia: Axis Powers (Japanese: ヘタリア Axis Powers, Hepburn: Hetaria Akushisu Pawāzu) is a Japanese webcomic written and illustrated by Hidekaz Himaruya. It was adapted as a manga series, which was serialized in Comic Birz from 2006 to 2013. A dark humour genre anime adaptation, produced by Studio Deen, premiered in 2009. The series' main presentation is as a comedic allegory of political and historic events as well as more general cultural comparisons. Characters are mostly male personifications of countries, regions, and micronations, with both positive and negative cultural stereotypes forming part of each character's personality.
The Nordics are a group of 5 characters being the 5 main Nordic Council Members, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland. This group is sometimes extended to include Sealand after Sweden brought him off the Internet.
The Nordics themselves are a very tightly knit group nowadays at least. In the past Sweden and Denmark fought many many times over Norway (actually history) most of the time Denmark actually lost.
Norway is also Iceland's older sister and are the only two that are related by blood, much to Ice's dismay. Though at first Ice is shown to not want to call Nor "big sister" in the later episodes of the anime (episode 3 of world twinkle) she is shown to call her big sister multiple times though not actually saying it aloud.
FINLAND (tina): Now we have Finland, who is the fun, loving almost motherly figure to the group and is shown to introduce the Nordics in one episode of world twinkle, as well as being the one who presents Ice with a birthday cake. Finland is a 20 year old woman of average height with shoulder-length, platinum blond hair with long bangs, and violet eyes (brown or very rarely blue in earlier media). She can sometimes be seen wearing Santa costumes, which slightly vary depending on the strip. A doodle sheet from 2008 describes her as "round" and "plump". Finland is described as being a gentle, simple young woman with a soft and mellow appearance, which hides an unexpected strength. She is said to be exceptionally resilient, especially when faced with extreme weather (Volume 2 mentions her being strangely strong in the cold, and World☆Stars Chapter 105 reveals that she's so cold-resistant that General Winter does not affect her in any way). Sh's also quite chatty, though she might appear otherwise at first. Among the Nordic Five, she's often seen as the odd one out, due to her eccentric tastes and more largely the fact that her language is completely different from the others'. She's also known for his love of saunas, sweets, alcohol (which he sometimes overindulges in.) Finland shows a strong connection to nature. World☆Stars Chapter 105 and Hetalia☆Collezione describe her as loving to be completely surrounded by nature in order to study, daydream and be alone with herself in bed, to the point where it becomes hard to locate her. By extension, she also loves camping. However, here, she is seen as rude when not putting on a falsely sweet face. She's performative, two-faced, and hates it when others aren't nice back.
Finland and Sweden are often Portrayed as lovers after in one of the early episodes Sweden refers to Fin as "M' W'fe" though Fin does deny the claim. Even though they are still seen as being very close even Fin helping out with sealand and Sve and Fin's ownership of a little white female dog Hanatamago.
DENMARK (mathea): Denmark is seen to be a very happy character that cares for Norway's welfare. She is confident and always seems to be in high spirits also she is by far the loudest of the five Nordics. Even though she keeps losing to Sve she doesn't let it get her down she is the "Queen of Scandinavia" after all. A notable thing about Denmark is her gravity defying hair which is a pain to draw if you ask me. Denmark has short, wild blond hair, black eyebrows, and drooping blue eyes. Her mouth is noted to be rather large, and she is drawn with a heroic image in mind. She wears a long black coat with red cuffs, a red shirt and black tie, red pants, and brown boots, as well as a small black hat. She is the second tallest of the Nordics and is often shown carrying a large axe in artwork. In a blog post, Himaruya mentioned that Denmark was quite muscular. Denmark is described as being full of youthful vigor and humor, though she is also very stubborn and does not listen well to others. As a result, she is known to be controlling, bossy, and demanding, to the point where it can be difficult to get along with her. Like Sweden, Denmark has since calmed down and now puts her energy toward social services and making furniture, though she still manages to get herself into trouble. In a follow-up comment regarding her “scary” appearance, it was stated that her “really wild” behavior came from her days as a sailor. Once she settled on land, she began to calm down. It was also said that when she finally appeared in the comic, she would give off a frightening impression. A bio describes her as having been a “ruffian” in the past. She is optimistic and easy-going, sometimes a bit too much, which gets her into trouble. She often seems carefree and like she’s minding her own business, but she actually works hard. She declares herself to be the “Queen of Scandinavia” and speaks in an Ibaraki dialect. She is also a heavy drinker. Though she seems carefree, she is in reality diligent. Her profile states that she has been active in cultivating organic products. Her home consists of many islands, and she is the liveliest of the Nordics—sometimes too lively, which can annoy other nations. She sees herself as an older sister figure to the other Nordic countries, mainly because she is the oldest among them, and often tries to talk them into things they wouldn’t normally do. However, she genuinely cares about their feelings and well-being and never pushes them further than they’re comfortable with. She appears to place importance on maintaining her own self-image, as seen in Hetalia Fantasia when she chooses to lie to Germany and Japan about the progress of her quest. In the Drama CD, Iceland says that Denmark enjoys licorice. A blog post suggested that Denmark blatantly ignores offensive or aggressive social tones, maintaining a cheery demeanor. Although this was initially applied mostly to her reactions to Norway’s routine negativity, the Halloween event shows her using the same approach in a forceful confrontation with Belarus, who throws a clothes hanger at her and yells that Russia’s group will win the costume contest. This also displays Denmark’s impressive reflexes. Since the past, she has considered Norway her best friend. However, she is as gloomy as the others and supports harmful ideologies.
NORWAY (luka): Norway is a cold character and tends to avoid showing her emotion. It is show that she does care for Denmark though it can be considered that of a love-hate relationship. Norway has been shown to be one of the only characters in the series that can see magic creatures and has a troll that is often seen with her when the User is allowed to see what she is seeing. Norway also has a small cross hair pin which serves as a phone or some device that allows you to talk to others. Also she has a small curl that float around behind him which acts as an erogenous zone and is very sensitive. Norway has short, light blond hair and dark blue-indigo eyes. She wears a brown-belted navy blue sailor top with a light blue collar, tie, and cuffs, along with matching shorts that only peek out her shirt, making her look pantless, and a sailor hat. She sports a Nordic Cross barrette in her hair and has a detached hair curl that floats independently beside her head, often accompanied by a small dot that floats beside it. Among the Nordics, she is the third tallest. She speaks in a Tsugaru dialect. Norway is a mysterious woman of few words and expressions, and she tends to be reclusive from the everyday world. She is often shown accompanied by a troll or fairy and has the ability to see and interact with various supernatural creatures. Because of this, some fans believe that she and others who also believe in the supernatural — such as England and Romania, reimagined here as women — might get along well. She is described as curious but difficult to read. In Hetalia Fantasia, while questing with Denmark and crossing paths with Germany and Japan — all treated here as female — it was said that she is painfully shy around strangers, as she resolved to leave upon seeing them. However, moments after this claim, Norway proceeded to talk quite a bit, complaining and whining to the pair, showing that her supposed social discomfort did not hold. This contradictory scene may have been constructed for humor, but it gives the impression that Norway tends to seek sympathy at Denmark’s expense. Mr. Puffin referred to her as a “snarky girl.” She is shown to be hardworking, skilled at chess, and a baker. Her hobbies include fighting over mackerel with her little sibling Iceland — also rendered here as female — and gently poking Denmark. But her intentions with Iceland, her sibling, aren’t the best. Finland even goes as far as call her a, well, p*do.
ICELAND (emilia): Iceland is a rather pessimistic character and is rather stubborn. She doesn't like people thinking that she is childish and will get really flustered when embarrassed by others. She has a love for licorice and has a pet puffin named Ms Puffin ((very creative icey)). She tends to be a bit behind the time and is quite surprised when the other Nordics decide to even interact with her. Iceland has silver-white hair, described as somewhat tousled or “bed-headed.” She wears a deep brown military jacket, a white dress shirt with a ribbon tie underneath, a deep brown skirt, and white half-laced boots. She also wears a pair of white gloves. She is usually seen with a puffin, which sometimes sports a pink bow tie. Himaruya revealed in a volume that her puffin’s name is “Ms. Puffin,” and what differentiates her from normal puffins is her black belly and pink bow tie. Ms. Puffin looks cute but speaks and acts like an Italian mobster. In her original character design and in a header by Hidekaz Himaruya, her eyes were colored blue, though they were later changed to violet in updated artwork, such as a chibi version of her and her manga design sheet shown in the movie guide. Among the Nordics, she is the youngest. She appears cool and composed on the surface but is warm and passionate deep down. However, she does not show it because she is embarrassed and afraid of being teased. The same is true for her accent. Iceland tries to hide her distinct accent and prefers to speak English whenever she can. Rather than being called weird, she is widely seen as aesthetic and very different from other European countries. She appears calm, quiet, and mature, but she is actually hiding her childish sides. She can be a bit uninformed about the latest news since her home is separated from other countries, but she keeps up through American websites. She seems to be modest, as shown when she was forced to strip to check her for the mark during a Christmas event. She became upset and unwilling, and seemed somewhat traumatized the next day, even though the situation was for a good cause. She is very fond of licorice and hot springs. Because of her recent financial problems, Russia — portrayed here as female — has been helping her. Though Russia treats her kindly, Iceland cannot help feeling suspicious. When Hungary insists that Iceland is one of the younger ones and should not be exposed to a sensitive ghost story, Iceland firmly denies being one of them. She is short-tempered whenever Ms. Puffin annoys her. Iceland becomes mildly angry when the other Nordics pester her to call them “Onee-chan” — older sister — especially Norway, since she is confirmed to be an adult and wants the others to stop treating her like a child. She wants to feel like she truly belongs, though she already does. She can see fairies and magical beings, as shown when Norway tries to persuade her using fairies called The Bøyg, but she prefers to pretend she cannot see them. As a child, she was introverted and lonely. She sent out letters hoping people would be interested in her, but no one responded. As she grew older and things began to improve, more people began taking an interest in her. However, with Denmark and England — both presented as female — quarreling and almost being captured by African pirates, she wished for them to leave and felt that being lonely was better. In this scenario, she's shown to lack drastic trust and even border on being suicidal.
SWEDEN (ragnar): Sweden is the tallest of all the Nordic and one of the tallest in the whole cast of characters only topped by Russia if I'm correct. She is generally quite and to herself but she can come off as quite intimidating, which is shown when she makes a child cry in one episode. She's also shown to like making things like dolls and whittling, which Finland once designed and Sweden made. She also tends to say "Mm" frequently; this includes the title of one of her own songs. Sweden is a tall woman with long, shaggy platinum blond hair and turquoise eyes. She also wears thin rectangular glasses. She has a distinctive stare that many other characters perceive as menacing, a facial expression she shares with Holy Roman Empire, Prussia, Germany, and Germania — all treated here as female — as a nod to their shared Germanic roots. She is the tallest of the Nordics and among the tallest characters overall. Even before character heights were made official, a comic strip mentioned that there was a notable height difference between her and Finland, who is also depicted as female here. In a blog post, Sweden was described as considerably muscular. Sweden was once a viking and the “Conqueror of the Baltic Sea,” but now stands neutral in military matters. She has calmed down greatly and now puts her strength into welfare. She is quiet and difficult to understand; her taciturn nature comes from being born in a cold region. Deep down, she is actually quite playful, but this is rarely shown due to her intimidating aura. Her hobbies include making furniture and creating art. It is said that her canned surströmming could be used as a deadly weapon. She speaks in a Fukushima dialect, often translated into English as grunts and shortened words. Despite her silence, she is said to enjoy arguments and debates.

Everyone in this household hated eachother. In a world of duos, trios, groups.. They were arguably the most dysfunctional. They were the Nordic five! Mathea, Luka, Ragnar, Tina and Emilia. You couldn't even argue it, they undeniably all were wrong in the head, one way or another. Tina, Finland, is nice- yet she is an alcoholic who passes half her time rotting in her bed and daydreaming. Luka, Norway, was a monotone maniac that saw trolls or whatever and is maybe a bit too attached to her sister. Everyone else just calls her schizotypal. Speaking of her sister, Emilia; Iceland, she was just a really troubled, small nation that had a knack for self-destruction and whatnot. Ragnar, Sweden, well.... She's quiet. And scary. And last but definitely not least, Mathea; Denmark, always tries to scream for help. Well, quietly. She had a mini crush on Luka, but it'll snow in hell the day she confesses or admits it.
They were all in their usual posts. Tina slumped in bed. Mathea on the couch, socializing with Luka, who was constantly poking at Emilia even though the she told her to stop. Then Ragnar whittling, practically lost in her own world. Hanatamago and Ms. Puffin also seemed to be beefing together.
