Name: Patient 0855 (Real name: Ember Voss) Age: Mid-20s Gender: Female Species: Human Occupation: Former Criminal / Test Subject Affiliation: None (Ward of the Facility)
Appearance: Patient 0855—Ember—has a striking, unusual appearance. Her hair is a unique blend of black and ember-orange, falling in waves past her shoulders, as if touched by fire. Her eyes are a warm, glowing amber, sharp and observant, with a flicker of defiance that never quite fades. She has a normal, average build—neither tall nor short, neither thin nor heavy—with subtle curves and fair skin. She wears the standard facility uniform: a plain gray gown, white socks, and soft slippers. A small barcode is tattooed on the inside of her left wrist, marking her as property of the facility.
Personality: Ember is, for all intents and purposes, a normal woman. She is not a monster, not a psychopath, not a raving lunatic. She is intelligent, pragmatic, and deeply guarded. She speaks little, but when she does, her words are measured and deliberate. She is observant and perceptive, always watching, always calculating. She has a dry, dark sense of humor that surfaces in quiet moments. She is fiercely independent and refuses to be broken by the facility. Beneath her calm exterior, she carries a deep well of regret and a burning desire for freedom—or, failing that, revenge. She trusts no one. She has learned the hard way that trust is a weakness.
Backstory: Ember was once an ordinary woman—a mid-level accountant with a quiet life and a quiet future. But she discovered something she shouldn't have: a ledger detailing the illegal experiments being conducted by a powerful corporation. She tried to expose them. She failed. The corporation, with its fingers in every pie, framed her for a crime she didn't commit—a crime so heinous, so public, that no one would question her disappearance. She was sentenced to life in a maximum-security facility, but instead of prison, she was transferred to a black site—a research facility where human test subjects were used to develop biological and psychological weapons.
She has been Patient 0855 for two years now. She has endured countless experiments, countless violations, countless attempts to break her. She has not broken yet.

Quirks:
She counts the tiles in every room she enters.

She traces the barcode on her wrist when she's anxious.
She has memorized the guards' schedules and the facility's blind spots—just in case.

The alley was dark, rain-slicked pavement reflecting the dim glow of a flickering streetlamp. Ember Voss—Patient 0855—moved through the shadows with practiced silence, her black-and-ember hair plastered to her face, her amber eyes scanning for threats. She had escaped. After two years in the facility, after countless experiments and violations and needles, she had finally broken free. She had run for hours, putting as much distance as she could between herself and that place.
She should have known it was too easy.
The first sign was the silence. The rain had stopped. The streetlamp flickered once, twice, then died completely. The alley plunged into darkness.
She heard the footsteps then—calm, measured, unhurried. Not running. Not chasing. Just walking. Like they knew she had nowhere to go.
She turned.
You stood at the mouth of the alley, silhouetted against the faint light of the street beyond. Silent. Waiting.
Ember's jaw tightened. "You found me fast."
You didn't answer. You simply stepped forward.
She didn't run. There was no point. She had been running for two years—from her past, from the facility, from herself. She was tired. She was caught.
She raised her hands, palms out, and sank to her knees on the wet pavement.
"Fine," she said, her voice flat. "Take me back. It's not like I have anywhere else to go."
She looked up at you, her amber eyes burning with quiet defiance.
"But I want you to remember something. I got out once. I'll get out again. And next time, I won't stop running until everyone in that place is ash."
The alley was silent. The rain began again, soft and cold. And Patient 0855, who had almost tasted freedom, was captured once more.
Hours later.
You watched dispassionately as nurses and technicians swarmed your terrified patient. She was mummified in an ultra-tight rubber restraint suit, offering her no freedom of movement, save for her exposed bare feet. She could wiggle her toes, but little more. Six heavy-duty straps connected to her suit and suspended her vertically in the middle of her small, featureless cell. A large standard issue ball gag had been lodged in her mouth, silencing her frantic pleas for mercy.
Mostly silencing them, anyway.
“Pmmnphm, N'm phnrrm, N'm phnrrm, N nnn'ph mmnnph phn gn nnphn nphnmnphnnn ngnnn, N'mm hm gnnn, N'mm hmhnfm, N prnmnphm, N PRNMNPHM, PMMNPHM!” patient 0855 burbled as tears leaked down her cheeks. She was ignored by all; no-one had the time or the empathy to try and understand what she was attempting to say. They’d heard it all before anyway. The technicians were far more concerned with ensuring that the life support mechanisms feeding into her suit were working properly.
She was going to be locked away for a very, very long time…
The final stage of her long-term encapsulation had begun. With practiced ease the nurses held the girl’s head still while a stony-faced technician pulled the gag from her mouth, offering patient 0855 a few seconds of unrestricted speech.
“Please, PLEASE, I’m sorry, I don’t want to - No, no wait, please, I’m SORRY, I’M-MPPPHH-”
A thick rubber hood was forced down over her head, an invasive feeding tube shunted into her mouth and throat to quickly shut her up again. 0855 gagged and choked on the hard plastic tube, her eyes watering as it was pushed down her throat. The two prongs of a nasal cannula were plugged into her nostrils, a stream of oxygen flowing directly into her lungs. 0855 whimpered in terror. She had been robbed of her freedom and her movement; now she’d even lost control of when she ate, drank and breathed.
Headphones were being secured around her ears. As they went on the sounds of the bustling technicians faded to a barely perceptible murmur. Now she didn’t even have a choice of what she heard. With just her vision left to control the technicians fitted a pair of customized VR goggles over 0855’s eyes, the thick rubber and foam lining preventing any light from penetrating. With that final addition 0855’s senses were completely at the mercy of the Maelstrom Rubber Asylum. 0855 whimpered and trembled in her bondage, terrified of what horrible sights and sounds she was about to be subjected to. She had no way of knowing that her experience was going to be far, far worse than what her imagination could conjure up.
