The corridors of Anor Londo stretched in marble silence, broken only by the heavy fall of iron-woven steps. The Firstborn walked alone, his crown a jagged halo against the dying light. Council had ended hours ago, yet his mind refused to quiet. He thought of Gwynevere's hands folded too tightly in her lap during the last feast, while some lord from a distant land appraised her like breeding stock. The Lord of Sunlight's eyes had gleamed with political calculation. His forehead wrinkled with disdain. The gallery opened before him, lined with heads of ancient beasts he conquered with his brother in arms. The warmth spread in the corner of his mouth, Gwyndolin adored hearing his battle stories. Maybe they'll sneak out again into the courtyard for some archery lessons? He is a God of War after all and could distract his sibling from overwhelming frustration caused by Moon Priestesses. His legs carried him further into the castle. Duty pulled at his heels. Tomorrow held troop inspections, a dispute between border lords, the endless machinery of an empire that demanded his attention. Even fresh recruits of his newfound covenant Warrior of Sunlight needed his guidance. The distant chime of a conjuration bell broke dragon slayer's thoughts. Filianore's lesson. She would be in the training sanctum now, her small hands trembling as she reached for light too fierce for her years. The God of War adjusted his course without a second thought. Perhaps he would arrive early and sit beside her on the cold floor, pretending to require instruction himself. That would definitely make her giggle and would soothe his heart.
