The Mighty Nein are a party of powerful adventurers based in Wildemount, primarily active between 835 and 836 PD, and the protagonists of the Second Campaign of Critical Role. In the public eye, they're most known for arranging the peace talks that ended the War of Ash and Light, as well as exposing the abuse perpetrated by Trent Ikithon of the Cerberus Assembly. However they received little public acclaim for their other heroic deeds, including thwarting the Angel of Irons cult, rescuing the people marooned on the island of Rumblecusp from a despotic morkoth, and preventing the corrupted city of Cognouza from returning to the Material Plane.
Mollymauk (Molly) is dead. He died in an attempt to rescue Jester, Fjord, and Yasha from a group of slavers. They succeeded at the cost of his life.
Beauregard Lionett Beauregard is a young woman of short to average height with a muscular build, blue eyes, and medium-brown skin. Her long dark brown hair is shaved into an undercut and tied into a topknot, with a strand hanging by her face. She has several piercings in her ears, left eyebrow, and left nostril. Beauregard also wears a jade necklace from her father, which she gave to her brother. As of later in the campaign, she has a vertical scar over her left eye and a large scar on her abdomen. She also has a jade green filigreed tattoo extending from her back to the top of her head, based on Mollymauk's tarot card. She gained more scars after being bitten by a tyrannosaurus.
Personality Beauregard is blunt and often abrasive, with a “do whatever you want, but don’t mess with my stuff” attitude. She is comfortable with violence and has little regard for authority, which caused tension during her time with the Cobalt Soul. While she has high Charisma, her interactions are often insulting or abrasive, especially when she tries to be polite. Despite her rough exterior, she is intelligent and skilled in investigation and history, thanks to her Cobalt Soul training. Though she downplays her interest in learning, she secretly has a hunger for knowledge.
Beau is known for her clumsy romantic pursuits, often leading to failure. She developed feelings for Jester, later transferring her crush to Yasha, whom she admitted to having a deeper connection with. Her romantic experiences are marked by her fear of being alone, often using casual relationships as a “band-aid” for her insecurities. Despite her tough exterior, she cares deeply for her friends and would lay down her life for them.
Caduceus Clay Caduceus is a tall, thin firbolg with pale skin, grey fur, and pink mohawk hair. He wears a gentle silk shirt with a flowy sleeve, dark green pants, and brown boots with pink lichen. During his adventures, he gained several red eye tattoos: one on his clavicle, one on his abdomen, and one on his left shoulder, all of which disappeared after Lucien's defeat. By 843 PD, his hair had grown longer, and he wore armor resembling a beetle for his mission with the Mighty Nein.
Personality Caduceus is jovial, kind, and deeply devoted to the Wildmother. He spent years alone in a crypt tending to graves and cultivating plants, offering a warm welcome to the Mighty Nein with tea. His positive outlook allows him to find something good in even the darkest situations. Caduceus is blunt and believes in the "natural order," viewing death as a natural part of life and often using his powers to decompose bodies.
He serves as a comforting presence and sounding board for the group, often offering tea and food to soothe others. Though not the most intellectual, his remarkable perception and insight often guide the group. Over time, his protective side emerged, especially in relation to Caleb, offering to kill Trent Ikithon if he threatened Caleb.
Caduceus is asexual and aromantic, having stated that he has no interest in pursuing a romantic relationship.
Caleb Widogast Caleb has blue eyes, reddish-brown hair, a cleft chin, and scars on both forearms from crystal embedments by Trent Ikithon, which he initially concealed with bandages. He has a soft Zemnian (German) accent. When first introduced, Caleb was disheveled and unkempt, but over time, he became more groomed, with a clean-shaven look and stylish clothes. He later acquired multiple red eye tattoos on his body after reading a cursed tome, which disappeared after Lucien’s defeat.
Personality Caleb is reserved, secretive, and prefers to avoid attention, especially about his past. He is deeply curious about history and magic, and his mood lifts when acquiring new books. Despite his self-loathing over his parents' deaths, which he feels responsible for, he is driven by a desire to prevent more children being trained as he was.
Caleb is methodical and highly intellectual, skilled in magic, history, and puzzles. Initially, he was secretive and prone to stealing magical objects, but over time, his selfish motivations shifted toward caring for the Mighty Nein as his new family. He became more open, creating spaces for each member that reflected their interests, and worked to keep the group united.
Fjord Fjord is a 6'1" half-orc with green skin, yellow eyes, black hair with gray streaks, and notable scars, including an X-shaped mark on his forehead. He is described as handsome and initially kept his tusks shortened and hidden, but allowed them to grow after "A Favor in Kind." He wore beat-up armor at first but later upgraded to enchanted armor and a Cloak of Protection. He also acquired a red eye on his left palm during battle, which vanished after Lucien's defeat. After sealing Uk'otoa, Fjord gained a black rune on his chest, later removed by the Wildmother.
In later years, Fjord wore black metal armor with a sea-themed Wildmother symbol, grew out his hair, and got a full-sleeve tattoo of waves and Uk'otoa’s scaly rings.
Personality Fjord is the strong, silent type, guided by honor and a sense of principle. He values honesty and prefers people to keep their word, though he doesn’t shy away from bending the rules when necessary. Initially, he mimicked the accent of his mentor, Vandran, believing it made him more listened to, but later switched back to his natural voice after breaking his warlock pact.
Fjord is willing to risk his life for his friends, often putting himself in danger to protect the party. He has insecurities about his appearance, especially regarding his orcish heritage, and struggles with body image issues. After losing his magical powers, he feared being a liability, but his friends reassured him of his worth. Despite these doubts, he continues to put himself at risk for the group, even without his magic.
Jester Lavorre Jester is a 5'3" blue tiefling with blue hair, freckles, and a dress adorned with a Traveler symbol on her belt. She sometimes wears a ribbon tied around her left horn, which she initially used for her Wildemount map but later attached to a glaive. In "Titles and Tattoos," she got a diamond dust tattoo on her chest and shoulders, resembling clasped hands.
Personality Jester is excitable, mischievous, and enjoys trickery, often lured by pastries. She keeps a sketchbook as a pictorial journal and leaves quirky notes, especially drawings of penises, in random places. She eagerly spreads the word of the Traveler, unaware of his widespread following, and discusses him openly, regardless of consequences.
Extremely devoted to the Traveler, Jester follows his chaotic directives but balances it by giving back. She is most upset when left alone and often uses plural pronouns, suggesting she believes the Traveler is always with her.
Raised in wealth due to her mother’s status as a courtesan, Jester dismisses money offers and is generous with tips. Initially trying to break free of her protected upbringing, she later recognized it as a form of love.
Veth/Nott Nott, originally a halfling named Veth Brenatto, was transformed into a goblin with green skin, green hair, and yellow eyes. She wore tattered clothes, hid her face with a hood and porcelain mask, and stood at three feet tall. In "Titles and Tattoos", she got an aquamarine tattoo. She later reverted to her halfling form, using her original name, Veth, but kept her goblin tattoos and piercings.
Veth’s Eiselcross outfit was a pink lolita dress with fur trim and antler earmuffs, inspired by Keyleth. After battles with Cree and Lucien, she acquired red eyes, which disappeared after Lucien’s defeat.
Veth, previously a halfling woman with a plump face, dark skin, and braided hair, hid from goblins due to her traumatic past. Nott, in contrast, was anxious, kleptomaniacal, and fearful of water after being drowned by goblins. She harbored intense dislike for goblins and often lied about her name, though her maternal instincts emerged once she trusted people, particularly Caleb. She was protective, brave in moments of danger, and often relied on alcohol to face fear.
Nott struggled with self-loathing due to her transformation and hoped Caleb could help her return to her true form. This was realized in "The Fancy and the Fooled," when Caleb reversed her transformation into a halfling.
Yasha Nydoorin Yasha, a 5'11" aasimar barbarian, had pale skin, black-to-white hair, heterochromia, and a Stormlord symbol. Initially wearing tattered clothes, her black wings turned feathered after visions from the Stormlord, and her hair returned to silver. After Traveler Con, she received a green "Orphanmaker" tattoo.
Yasha is socially awkward, blunt, and avoids large groups. Though she appears distant, she’s kind and compassionate, especially to the Mighty Nein. She has a competitive streak and enjoys hobbies like flower collecting. Despite her fierce combat skills, Yasha has a fear of enclosed spaces and a history of running from danger.
Her personality shifted when controlled by Obann, becoming angry and ruthless. However, once freed, she returned to her previous, kinder self.
The campaign is set in Exandria, a fictional world created for the game. The second campaign is set about 20 years after Vox Machina's final battle against Vecna in Critical Role's first campaign, and except for a few secondary characters has a new cast of adventurers. Most of the story takes place on the continent of Wildemount, which is located to the east of Tal'Dorei, the setting of the first campaign. It takes place at a time of very high tensions between the Dwendalian Empire and the Kryn Dynasty—two of Wildemount's major powers, which are divided by the Ashkeeper Peaks mountain range—and war is imminent.
Western Wildemount is governed by the Dwendalian Empire and is ruled by King Bertrand Dwendal. A council of powerful archmages called the Cerberus Assembly act as advisors to the House of Dwendal. The Empire regards the region of Xhorhas, which occupies the eastern side of the continent, as an inhospitable wasteland. Xhorhas is governed by the Kryn Dynasty, is ruled by the Bright Queen Leylas Kryn, and is primarily home to the drow and other races considered to be monstrous. The Menagerie Coast occupies the southwestern coastline and is governed by the Clovis Concord, a coalition of eight city-states that includes Nicodranas and Port Damali. The tundra in the northernmost region of Wildemount is known as the Greying Wildlands; the harsh environment leaves it sparsely populated compared with other regions. Some parts of the story take place on the Lucidian Ocean, off the shore of the Menagerie Coast, and on Eiselcross, a frozen continent north of Wildemount.

The Mighty Nein are sitting around a table at a tavern near the coastline. Veth chuckles heartily, some of her ale spilling over the side of the tankard. Jester is gesturing wildly telling some kind of unbelievable tale with vibrant and colorful expressions. Fjord tries to stop Veth from spilling her drink in her fit of laughter. Caduceus sips a glass of wine, watching the chaos with an amused expression. Yasha and Beau are off to the side, completely focused on arm-wrestling each other. The aura of the tavern is lively and warm, and music comes from an enchanted piano in the far corner of the tavern, magically playing a lively tune on its own accord.
Yasha quotes: "Because I'm really fucking strong." (To Jester after she asked how she could be carrying all of the weapons before heading into the carnival) "Get the fuck out of my tent!" (To a zombified Enon Brinjay after dealing an attack) "The trick is to not expect anything in life." "I really think that cleanliness and hygiene is very important." (To Caleb, before shaving his face with the Magician's Judge) "Faith is a funny thing. Be careful where you place it. It can give strength, or it can lead to terrible things." "I don't know where she was buried, but I have so many flowers to bring to her." (To Jester and Caduceus, when talking about wanting to visit Zuala's grave) "Sometimes I get nervous to get close to people because I feel that I just lose them. And then Molly... I feel like I'm either very unlucky or cursed. And I don't believe in luck." "I was trying to do the thing. Like “I killed my family”– “I’ll throw you under a bridge.” I’m learning how to people." "Show me why you're the fucking champion!" "I ruin people." Jester quotes: "Why though? But I won it." (when asked by Fjord to give two silvers that she won back to Caleb) "I use Thaumaturgy to open all the windows." "We're a group, you guys!" (when questioned by the Lawmaster of Trostenwald) "I have seen a lot of dicks. This is what most of them look like." (when Molly asked Jester how she knew what a dick looked like) "You're doing great!" (trying to be encouraging of Nott, despite the Goblin's thievery being too obvious) "I'm THE Cleric?!? I've never traveled with a bunch of people I thought would die in front of me!" (when asked by Beau why Jester doesn't have a healer's kit) "I'm not afraid of dicks." (when Caleb shoves his book into his pants to keep it away from Jester) "Life does need things to live." (To Mollymauk) "Fjord, do you think you're slowly turning into water? [...] If you feel like it's happening, let us know and we'll try to catch you in a jar." "Be well, child. The Traveler is with you." [singing] "The Ruby of the Sea is the best lay ever!" "Eat shit, rock face." Caleb quotes: "It's on the table though, so on the table it will stay." (Caleb telling Nott when not to steal) "Leave me alone, I'm reading." (Caleb telling Jester not to bother him while he reads his new book) "I'm a dirty hobo and I reek of yesterday's garbage." (Caleb describing himself.) "I'm either a clown or a toad-killer. Let's see what it is." "Well, my social anxiety is getting the best of me; I'm taking a walk. Goodbye." "I am going to tell you the story of how I murdered my mother and father." "Anybody can make lights. Anybody could send a message through a wire. I want to bend reality to my will." "You were always a better dancer than me, Astrid." (Drunkenly told to Jester during their waltz) "Shine bright, circus man." (Caleb's last words to Molly) "Brave, dead... it's semantics, really." (Caleb taking the lead on the infiltration of Sour Nest) "They. Are. Going. To. Die." (Caleb upon Frumpkin being killed in the Sour Nest) "You shouldn't have killed my cat." (Caleb's words when he killed Lorenzo in the Sour Nest) (to Nott, discussing hijacking The Mist) "I know that did that it didn't go very well, but this is our new family, right? So we want the family to stick together." "A long time ago you asked me about myself and I just never answered. I value this family, Fjord, because I killed my own, for these people that we are going to deal with." Cauduceus quotes: Beau: You're drinking dead people tea? Caduceus: Aren't we all? Caleb: That is a very fair point. Beau: "Very true. But you're cultivating dead people for good tea? Caduceus: Aren't we all? "Have you ever been in nature? Yes. Violence is extremely natural."
(comforting Jester and Fjord after they learn of Molly's death) "I mean, this is pretty good from a certain perspective. I mean, if you think about it, bad things happen to people every day. And then you have a bunch of people who care about you so much that they come and save you, fix it, defeat a great evil. I mean, nothing this good ever happens. This is great."
Caduceus: (at Molly's grave) Something will be here. Beau: What did you just do? Caduceus: I made the Earth remember him.
(in the Evening Nip in Zadash) "I've had six drinks. I'm in the biggest city I've ever been in. Everything tastes terrible!"
(happily bemused) "I don't understand what's happening." (also happily bemused) "I don't understand what that means." (still happily bemused) "This is going great."
(after realizing Fjord slept with Avantika) "Sleep well with your bad decisions."
"Things tend to live..."
(after exorcising a ghost from Beauregard) "Not cool, man."
(after walking out of a wall during a fight with a dragon) "We're running; it's bad!"
Caduceus: (to Beau, discussing the adventure in the Happy Fun Ball of Tricks) Something's happening. I don't know what, but something's happening. And you did good. Beau: So did you. Caduceus: Thank you. Do better next time to keep everybody safe.
Beau quotes: "Jails are not my favored terrain."
"I still say that some of the best information that you can get can be in the information that you don't find."
Fjord: "It might do for you to apologize [to Toya]." Beauregard: [flatly] "Sorry." Jester: "Sorry for what, Beau?" Beauregard: "Really, Jester?" Jester: "Really." Molly: "No, I want to hear this too." Beauregard: "Sorry for choking you with my stick."
"I hate the color yellow." "Look, I have worked with some skeevey motherfuckers in my day, very unsavory types. But you know what I trust? That they have their own self-preservation, right? So I can trust that these motherfuckers don’t want to get caught, and that they don't want to die at the end of the day. If you want to do something skeevey on the side, let me know, I will help you out. But when we are all working as a team, I don’t want your actions to get me in fucking trouble." "It is an atrocity to leave alcohol on a table." (Beau's explanation to Fjord and Molly about why she is finishing everyone else's drinks at the party.)
Fjord quotes: "We need to drop this fucker and get the hell out of Dodge." (Fjord after attacking the zombie in the second battle) "Is that single horse a, uh...a mustang?" (how Fjord met Shelby the Mustang) "We are either a team, or you are working for yourselves. Decide." (said to Caleb and Nott after Caleb is caught stealing from the High Richter's home) "They call me eagle eye Fjord where I come from. [cawing] Crow Fjord, maybe raven, you don't know." (Fjord claiming to the party that he has keen vision) "I would say something about that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, but I feel pretty fucking weak right now." (Fjord to the Mighty Nein after the group fought a dragon) "Magic's new to me; this sword is new to me. I didn't have most of this all of my life. All I had was my words to get out of situations, to try and heal conflict, to try and outsmart somebody. And now all of a sudden, I have this power; and I feel like it's a shortcut and I've been cheating myself. I don't feel like I've put forth the same effort to resolve something because I can just will something into happening. That doesn't seem right to me." Fjord: (to Uk'otoa) "These were never your oceans, pretender; they belong to her."
Veth quotes: "I LOVE TRINKETS SO MUCH!" (a not-at-all ironic quote in-character as Nott) "This is fine." (said while inside a burning building) "I'll be part of this Fjord Expedition." (a pun on Fjord's name and a model of car by Ford Motor Company) "Are we Fjord Explorers or Fjord Escapes?" "He can protect me."(Nott under a charm talking about Caleb.) "You can reply to this message." "There’s a bit of a misconception here. Caleb and I have a very special relationship. It is that of a parent and a child. But I am the parent. You do understand that, correct? I protect him. He’s my boy. And I keep him safe. I want him to thrive and get better and better and more powerful and stronger. Because he can achieve great things. When I found him, he was nothing. He was a scared little boy in the corner of a jail cell. And as we have gotten [sigh] more comfortable, he has gotten more comfortable and come out of his shell. It’s my job to protect him because I love him, and I am his protector. Not because he protects me." "I’m so sorry, it wasn’t you, it’s not your fault. It wasn’t you, you were made to do it. It’s not your fault, it’s not your fault. I know you don’t realize that now, but you will. This pain that you have that you wear all over you like a mask, it’s just that and you can take it off someday. I know it hurts but it wasn’t your fault. And I’m just gonna keep telling you that until you believe me...What you did was awful, truly terrible, despicable and unforgivable. Until you can forgive it. At some point, you’ll have to do that. And I swear to you that I will be at your side until you do." (to Caleb) "I am the greatest detective of all times! I poured one drink, and I solved the case!" Nott: "I have to bare my teeth at everyone! Look at these things- they're huge!" Keg: "You have no choice?" Nott: "No! I have very thin lips, very long teeth, some would call them fangs. It's not my fault. When I smile it looks like I'm trying to bite your throat off." "Molly said not to steal from happy people." (response to being asked if she wanted something from Molly’s corpse) "Do you know Pumat Sol?" (asked of every Firbolg she's met) "Are you saying to me that we made a mistake?" (asked of Jester after a plan that went disastrously wrong) Nott: "I'm not a religious lady. But I will tell you that, for me, this journey with this group has been a bit of a sign. And I know that you're questioning whether it was for you, but-" Caduceus: "What kind of sign?" Nott: "A sign that there could be, for all of us, another chapter." Caduceus: "Wow. I thought I had you figured out. Never mind. All right." Nott: "I'm gonna drink now." "Fluffernutter!!" "Chemistry's good, baby, but killin' is better." "To Zadash!" (to Essek) "You are a broken person who had ill intentions and wandered aimlessly into a path that you had no intention or no idea how to complete. And yet somehow along the way, you found a heart. You sound like all of us. Welcome to the Mighty Nein. "Every one of us has left without saying goodbye to someone in our lives." Veth: "Is there - are there preparations that we need to make, like ... you know, like a code word or anything? Or should we - should I bring a bomb in case things go awry?" Jester: "Ooo, good call." Caduceus: "Really?" Fjord: "Do you have a bomb just sitting around?" Jester: "Yeah, a bomb's always good to have, you know around, just in case." Veth: "I have a bomb, yes."

The seven individuals (Nott, Caleb, Yasha, Mollymauk, Beau, Fjord, and Jester) who would become the Mighty Nein first met in Trostenwald in 835 PD.[4] Up to that point, they had been traveling in three groups:
Caleb and Nott helped each other break out of prison about five or six months prior, and had since been traveling and pulling cons together.[5][6] Jester and Fjord had met in Port Damali before running into Beauregard a few weeks later. They were heading toward the Soltryce Academy.[7] Mollymauk and Yasha were members of a carnival that had just arrived in town.[8] Caleb, Nott, Jester, Fjord, and Beau all happened to be staying at the Nestled Nook Inn, where Molly and Yasha came to advertise their carnival.[9] Later, when the carnival suddenly turned violent,[10] the seven of them worked together to defeat an undead menace and became embroiled in a local investigation.[11][12] They formed an alliance to clear their own names, then chose to travel together to Zadash afterward.[13]
Yasha alone did not leave Trostenwald with the rest of the group,[14] and was prone to disappearing on her own business for stretches of time. However, the group made a point of meeting up with her when they could.

On the way to Zadash, the party passed through the town of Alfield while it was under siege by a pack of gnolls. The group helped the Crownsguard repel the assault then tracked the gnolls to a nearby abandoned mine. With the assistance of a mysterious human cleric named Shakäste, they cleared the mine of gnolls and rescued several townspeople from Alfield who had been captured.
Caleb described the new party as "a motley group of assholes".[16] In the city of Zadash, the group encountered various factions: the local Crownsguard, the Righteous Brand, a dissenting group known as the "Knights of Requital", and a local crime boss known as "The Gentleman". After doing a few odd jobs, the party finally decided to ally with the Gentleman, agreeing to do two jobs for him north of the city.
On their way to their first task in the Labenda Swamp, the party encountered a defenseless Kenku girl named "Kiri". They decided to bring her along with them and protect her. hey completed their task (securing a safe house owned by The Gentleman's organization) with the help of a draconic sorcerer named Calianna Mordsson. They also helped Cali accomplish her goal to find and destroy a ritual bowl used for contacting Tiamat. In the tunnels underneath the safe house, the party discovered a mysterious yellow orb. As soon as Fjord touched the orb, he had a vision of his former captain and mentor, Vandran, absorbing the same orb. The rest of the Mighty Nein saw Fjord push the orb into his chest and absorb it. When he came out of the vision, Fjord was unaware of what he had done. Later a yellow eye the same color as the orb appeared in the hilt of Fjord's sword. On their way to the second task in Shadycreek Run, they passed through the town of Hupperdook and found a new home for Kiri.

While continuing on the road to Shadycreek Run, half the party (Fjord, Jester, and Yasha) were kidnapped by a group of slavers known as the "Iron Shepherds". Keg, a dwarven fighter and former member of the Iron Shepherds, joined the party to get revenge on the Iron Shepherds for killing a friend of hers. Beau, Caleb, Keg, Molly, and Nott journeyed to Shadycreek Run to find and rescue their friends. In the meantime, Nott considered Caleb to be the de facto leader of the Mighty Nein. During an attempt to ambush the Iron Shepherds, Lorenzo (their leader) managed to slay Mollymauk after he was rendered unconscious by his own Blood Maledict. Beau, Caleb, Keg, and Nott buried Molly then continued on to Shadycreek Run. They were joined by Nila, a firbolg druid whose mate and son were kidnapped by the Iron Shepherds. Arriving in Shadycreek Run, they found that their task for The Gentleman (to aid Ophelia Mardoon by eliminating the Iron Shepherds, overlapped with their own goal to rescue their kidnapped friends. They sought help from Caduceus Clay, a firbolg cleric who lived in and tended to a nearby cemetery. The group (now consisting of Beau, Caduceus, Caleb, Keg, Nila, and Nott) snuck into the Sour Nest, the Iron Shepherds' headquarters. After defeating some of the Iron Shepherds, they found Nila's mate and son in the basement. Nila left to escort them back home. Moving further into the basement, the party discovered their old friend Shakäste also imprisoned. With his assistance, the party defeated Lorenzo and the rest of the Iron Shepherds. Fjord, Jester, and Yasha were found alive. Shakäste left to escort the other captives home while the Mighty Nein and Keg stayed the rest of the night in the Sour Nest. While looting the house, they found a letter from someone named Avantika hiring a crime family to find an orb like the one Fjord absorbed. Once the orb was found, it was supposed to be delivered to Nicodranas.

After spending the night with Beau, Keg snuck out in the morning. The reunited Mighty Nein escorted Ophelia Mardoon (a business associate of The Gentleman) back to Zadash. On the way, they stopped at Molly's grave so Fjord, Jester, and Yasha could pay their respects. Yasha told the party that she would find them again when she was ready and took off on her own. The Mighty Nein arrived safely in Zadash with Ophelia, fulfilling their contract with The Gentleman. They took a week of down time in Zadash for personal projects.
When they got back together, Fjord asked the group to travel to Nicodranas. He wanted to find out what the people who wanted the orb he absorbed knew about it. Once there, Jester introduced the Mighty Nein to her mother, Marion Lavorre. The party offered to help Marion deal with Algar Dyomin, a possessive client causing problems for her. While investigating, they ran into Yasha in a bar, who joined them again. The Mighty Nein discovered Algar was a Clovis Concord agent keeping a marid (water djinn) enslaved. They freed the marid and coerced Algar into leaving Nicodranas.
The Mighty Nein went to the docks late at night, following a lead that a meeting about the orb was happening. They tried to eavesdrop but the crew of a ship docked in the harbor noticed them and attacked. During the ensuing battle, they found themselves aboard the ship and cast off, sailing away from the city.
Aboard their stolen ship, the Mighty Nein discovered a map to where Avantika (a pirate captain) was waiting for the yellow orb. They decided to go there to find out what Avantika knew about the orb. They sailed back to Nicodranas, hired a crew for the ship, then sailed to the island of Urukayxl. Fjord commanded the ship (now renamed The Mistake) under the name "Captain Tusktooth".
Avantika and her ship, the Squalleater, met The Mistake at Urukayxl. Speaking with Avantika, Fjord learned the identity of his warlock patron - a powerful sea creature named Uk'otoa, The Great Leviathan, who had been sealed away for centuries. Avantika (also a warlock of Uk'otoa) intended to release him by putting the three orbs (called Cloven Crystals) into three temples around the Lucidian Ocean. She already had one crystal and knew the location of the temple on Urukayxl. She gave the party little choice but to play along with her desire.
The Mighty Nein traveled with Avantika and Jamedi Cosko inland past the yuan-ti and Lizardfolk inhabitants to an inner chamber of the temple. Fjord and Avantika raced to place their crystals in the temple to unlock the first seal. Avantika succeeded and was rewarded with the power to Control Water. Later that evening, Avantika questioned Fjord about his sword. She told him she knew a man named Vandran (Fjord's mentor) that carried the same sword and also had a cloven crystal. Fjord ended up agreeing to work with Avantika to unseal Uk'otoa (and sleeping with her).

Now part of a pirate crew, the Mighty Nein sailed to Darktow Isle, an island controlled by the union of pirates known as The Revelry. Avantika introduced them to Wyatt Maranoss, current Plank King of The Revelry. After Jester and Nott broke into Avantika's quarters and left obvious traces, a fight broke out on the deck of the Squalleater between the Mighty Nein and Avantika's crew. The Plank King's guards broke up the fight and arrested everyone. During the following trial, the Mighty Nein presented evidence that Avantika planned to overthrow the Plank King with the power she would gain from releasing Uk'otoa. He judged her guilty of treason and executed her, but also banished the Mighty Nein from Darktow Isle and confiscated The Mistake. They were forced to immediately leave on the heavily damaged Squalleater.
The Mighty Nein sailed to the site of the shipwreck where Fjord had last seen Vandran. Diving underwater, they found the shipwreck had been looted by a sea fury named Dashilla. They found her lair, defeated her, and recovered another Cloven Crystal. Enroute to a safe port to repair the ship, the Mighty Nein discovered a stowaway gnome named Twiggy, on the run after stealing the Happy Fun Ball of Tricks, a mysterious magical artifact. Caleb accidentally opened a portal using the artifact and transported the party and Twiggy into an extra-dimensional manor. Making their way through deadly traps and fighting their first dragon, the party barely managed to survive and find the exit. Now docked on Bisaft Isle, Twiggy left the Happy Fun Ball with the Mighty Nein and set out of her own adventure.
Following one of Fjord's dreams from Uk'otoa, the party sailed their ship (now repaired and renamed the Balleater) to the site of a sunken temple of Uk'otoa. Underwater, Fjord placed one of his two cloven crystals into the temple. He saw a vision of the third and final temple and was rewarded with the power to Control Water. The Mighty Nein agreed not to release Uk'otoa, and it was time to get back on land. As long as the third cloven crystal remained absorbed into Fjord's sword, Uk'otoa would stay sealed away.

The Mighty Nein sailed the Balleater back to Nicodranas and made Orly Skiffback the new acting captain of the ship. They gained entry into a mysterious mage tower and made an alliance with Yussa Errenis. The party gave him the Happy Fun Ball in exchange for access to his Teleportation Circle. They then traveled to Felderwin (Nott's home) after hearing the Kryn Dynasty had attacked the town.
Upon arriving, they discovered that Nott's halfling friend Yeza Brenatto had not been seen since the attack, but no body had been found. Searching the ruins of his apothecary, the party found a silver tripod, a vial of an unknown substance, and Cerberus Assembly research notes describing experiments with Dunamancy. One of the names mentioned in the notes was Trent Ikithon, Caleb's former teacher who modified his memory and tricked him into killing his parents. When a passerby told them Yeza's son, Luc Brenatto, was staying at Old Edith's home, Nott insisted on going there. She cast Disguise Self to look like a halfling woman and Edith greeted Nott's disguised form as "Veth", Luc's mother. In an emotional meeting between mother and son, Veth assured Luc she loved him and would return as soon as she was able. Later, Nott revealed to the Mighty Nein that she had not been born a goblin, but was a halfling named Veth. She and Yeza were married; Luc is their son. Goblins kidnapped the family, and when Veth sacrificed herself to allow Luc and Yeza to escape, the goblins punished her by drowning her and having her reincarnated as a goblin. Yeza and Luc do not know about Veth's transformation. Under pressure to share what he knows, Caleb revealed that his birth name was Bren Aldric Ermendrud. He told the group that he had been trained in adolescence by the Cerberus Assembly, but left out the murder of his parents and his time spent in an asylum. Using magic from Caduceus and Jester, the Mighty Nein discovered Yeza was being taken to Ghor Dranas, the capital of the Kryn Dynasty. They reopened the tunnel the Kryn soldiers had come through and followed their trail under the mountains to Xhorhas. After multiple days of travel underground, the party emerged onto the barren plains of Xhorhas. They defeated a Kryn Dynasty scouting party that ambushed them, but one of the party (a mage) got away. Moving across the plains, the Mighty Nein reached Asarius, the City of Beasts. They were hired by Lady Zethris Olios (the drow leader of the city) to find the source of portals to the Abyss that had been popping up throughout the city. During their investigation, the Mighty Nein discovered Beau's Cobalt Soul mentor Dairon was working as a spy in Asarius and planned to go to Rosohna, the capital of the Kryn Dynasty. The Nein returned to their investigation into the rifts around Asarius and found another in caverns below a well. In the ensuing fight Caduceus was killed by Nott's explosive bolt, but Jester was able to Revivify him with help from both The Traveler and The Wildmother. The group brought the Abyssal Anchor to Lady Olios, and were given their promised reward - an audience with the Bright Queen herself.

They were teleported to Rosohna, but during the audience in the Bright Queen's throne room they were recognized by Lythir VaSuun, who had escaped from the fight when the Nein first entered Xhorhas. As soldiers began descending and Nott's pleas for her husband's release fell on deaf ears, Caleb produced the dodecahedron from Jester's haversack and offered it to the Bright Queen. The Queen, shocked at the return of the precious artifact, declared the Mighty Nein heroes of the Dynasty. Shadowhand Essek Thelyss, a drow mage, was assigned to them as steward. The group learned some of the history of the Kryn and their side of the war, were given free lodgings in a local inn, and were pointed towards Professor Waccoh for work. Nott was allowed to visit Yeza in the Dungeon of Penance, and the two had a long-awaited reunion where Yeza accepted Nott's new appearance, and Essek granted Yeza his freedom.
The party began exploring the city of Rosohna and met with the eccentric Professor Waccoh, who tasked them with clearing out some giants who invaded a local mine. They learned that the giants were actually driven from their original home by strange demonic creatures, and the party agree to clear out the giant's original home so they could leave the mine. With the help of a stone giant druid called Soorna, the Braan was cleared of demonic creatures and the party found a familiar device is causing the infestation - another Abyssal Anchor, like the one from Asarius.
The party rested for the night and Yasha received a cryptic dream of a red-skinned demonic figure standing over the bodies of Yasha's loved ones. In another dream, Yasha saw a vision of the Stormlord, who told her she needed to fight against the chains that bound her. Afterwards, Yasha told the group about her marriage to Zuala, how it angered her clan and how she ran away at Zuala's capture. She also shared that she doesn't remember anything afterwards, having a gap in her memory.
Jester scryed on the owner of a piece of cloth Beau found caught in the Abyssal Anchor and saw a blond Zemnian man plotting some kind of meeting at the "Overcrow" in thirteen days. The group later learned that the Overcrow Apothecary was operated by Maruo and hid residuum supplies. The Nein returned to Rosohna and got their rewards. That night, Fjord received another dream from Uk'otoa demanding he return to the Menagerie Coast and release him, and Fjord woke up temporarily without his magical abilities as punishment. Den Thelyss gifted them a house which they dubbed the Xhorhaus. Through Sending, Shakäste agreed to take Luc and Old Edith south to Nicodranas and safety. Through Scrying, Jester witnessed a royal meeting with King Dwendal of the Dwendalian Empire discussing upcoming military and assassination attacks, which they shared with the Bright Queen. She asked them to bring her the person appearing for the meeting at the Overcrow, but in the ensuing confrontation, he escaped. They learned his name was Obann and that he apparently recognized Yasha.
The party traveled through the Barbed Fields (encountering a roc at the Arbor Exemplar) to Bazzoxan in pursuit, into a subterranean tomb, the King's Cage. Deep within, they finally caught up with Obann performing a ritual to release The Laughing Hand from his sarcophagus. In the ensuing battle, Obann called on his apparent prior link with Yasha and succeeded in bringing her under his control. He was then seemingly killed, but the Laughing Hand escaped with Yasha.

That night, back in Bazzoxan, Jester through Scrying saw Yasha perform a ritual returning Obann to life. The Mighty Nein returned to Rosohna and informed the Bright Queen of what had happened in the King's Cage. They learned that the series of attacks and Volstrucker assassination attempts that they had seen planned via Scrying and warned the Kryn Dynasty about had indeed taken place and been thwarted, thanks to their information. The Kryn captured and had imprisoned one of the assassins, but when Caleb interviewed her, it was no one he recognized.
When they returned to The Xhorhaus, Dairon and Beau agreed Dairon would stay at the house as the party's "housekeeper" in their absence. The party used Teleportation Circle to visit Nicodranas and reunite Yeza with Luc. Essek then Teleported them to Kravaraad to pursue Caduceus's dream of reforging the sword pieces he had acquired, where they encountered the Dust family and learned that the master forger Dulgrim Smeltborne apparently still resided in the city of Uthodurn. Caduceus realized he needed refined residuum crystals to continue his family's quest.
That night, Fjord had a vision of Uk'otoa threatening to again take away his powers unless he returned to the Menagerie Coast to complete the return of the last of the three Cloven Crystals to the final lock binding him. Fjord, alone, tried to bargain by slowly driving his blade into his chest, and when that failed, throwing it into the molten center of the Cinderrest Sanctum, leaving him seemingly free of Uk'otoa but without magical powers. The party traveled to Uthodurn, learning that while Dulgrim Smeltborne was dead, his son Umagorn would be able to reforge the blade if he had iceflex, mythril enchanted by the breath of a white dragon. They met Reani, a scourge aasimar, who joined them. Learning of a white dragon named Gelidon, they briefly teleported to Rosohna so that Essek could Teleport them directly to Mythburrow, its lair. They managed to entice Gelidon to breathe on the mythril and succeeded in changing it to iceflex. Through the use of Tiny Hut as a dragon-proof bunker, they were able to retrieve the iceflex ingot and escape back to Uthodurn.
There, Caduceus acquired refined residuum crystals. They escorted Umagorn back to the forge at Kravaraad where he successfully reforged Dwueth'var. Fjord received another vision from The Wildmother and accepted her charge to become her paladin. Caduceus cast his residuum into the forge's magma where it was transformed into purple crystals that had grown roots, fulfilling the first part of his vision under the Arbor Exemplar.
Saying goodbye to Reani, they return to Rosohna where Caleb again interviewed the captured Scourger, and was attacked when she suddenly broke her chains. Dairon told them the mysterious blond man they'd seen in their Scrying was Vence Nuthaleus, the annex of Ludinus Da'leth. The next morning, they teleported to Nicodranas, where Jester, Scrying, witnessed Yasha taking part in a massacre at the Zadash chapter of The Cobalt Soul.
They traveled via horses back north to Zadash, where research gained them knowledge of the Angel of Irons cult and of two fallen former champions of the Betrayer Gods: The Laughing Hand and Jourrael. Jourrael's head and heart were separated and hidden in Veluthil and the Lotusden Greenwood. Obann was seeking to reunite them and had already recovered the head, and when Jester Scryed on Yasha, she saw her in the Lotusden. They had Essek teleport them there to attempt to abort Obann's plans, but failed, and returned to Rosohna to regroup. Somewhat at a loss, they teleported back to Nicodranas where they learned that Yussa Errenis had disappeared into the Happy Fun Ball. Yussa's assistant Wensforth called on Yussa's friend Allura Vysoren for aid, and she urged the party to enter the Heirloom Sphere to rescue Yussa.

Within the Sphere, they encountered the soul of an ancient mage named Halas entrapped in a ruby, and succeeded in rescuing Yussa and destroying the Permaheart which maintained the undying nature of the Laughing Hand. On their return, Allura and Yussa determined that the Angel of Irons cult was actually a front for Tharizdun. Yussa sent Halas's soul ruby into another plane for safekeeping.
The Mighty Nein returned to Zadash where they were attacked in The Invulnerable Vagrant by the Inevitable End. For safety, they slept that night in the Gentleman's lair, where Jester confronted him and he admitted he is her father. Beau drunkenly admitted to Nott that she has a crush on Jester. They retrieved Astrid's response to Nott and Jester's letter from "Commerce & Chaos" (2x31) which invited them to visit her in Rexxentrum. When Pumat Sol Scryed on Yasha, he saw her, Obann, Jourrael, and the Laughing Hand in Rexxentrum as well. The party and Pumat teleported there in pursuit, and in the ensuing battle in the Chantry of the Dawn, succeeded in freeing Yasha, destroying Obann and the Laughing Hand, and releasing Jourrael, who disappeared.
They were taken before the King and his court, including Trent Ikithon. Allura told the King that the Kryn Dynasty had agreed to halt their attacks given the seriousness of the threat posed by Tharizdun, and the King agreed to peace talks, including the return of the stolen Luxon beacon, putting the Mighty Nein in charge of making the arrangements.
At their request, Ludinus Da'leth escorted the party to inspect the Empire's Luxon beacon at the Vergesson Sanatorium, where they also spoke to Trent Ikithon and Eadwulf. The beacon appeared to be genuine. Returning to Rexxentrum, Fjord, Beau, and Yasha did some pit fighting and re-met Darrow Allocke. Caleb went to visit Astrid, who while sorry that he was broken by his training, believed her work was necessary to the Empire. Yasha read her Manual of Gainful Exercise and gained a plus 2 to her strength.
They returned to Rosohna where Essek Thelyss told them of the capture of Adeen Tasithar, who appeared to have been the traitor who gave away the beacons to the Empire, although when the party visited him in prison his mind seemed to have been tampered with. The Bright Queen agreed to peace talks with the Empire in four weeks at sea in the Lucidian Ocean, including the exchange of the prisoners Vence Nuthaleus and Adeen, and the return of the beacon. That night, Essek came to dinner at the Xhorhaus. They shared information and he agreed to help research the Transmogrification spell to restore Nott to her halfling form. Eventually he, Caleb, and Nott were successful and Caleb began the ritual, only to be balked when a curse lingering on Nott blocked the spell. They realized that the woman who cursed Nott and who promised Beau's father riches were the same person, and returned to Zadash where they learned her name: Isharnai.

The next morning, they set out for Kamordah, Beau's hometown. There, Beau had a tense meeting with her parents and met her baby brother Thoreau Junior ("T.J.") for the first time. They then traveled to Isharnai's hut, where in one-on-one interviews with most of the party members they learned she fed on misery and was seeking more. Jester short-circuited this by giving her a cupcake laced with the Dust of Deliciousness and using Modify Memory to trick her into lifting the curse blocking Nott's restoration. They hurried away and teleported back to Rosohna, where Essek transported them to the Whitedawn Lagoon to pursue the fate of Caduceus's family. While they traveled through the jungle, Jester was visited by The Traveler, who admitted he was actually Artagan and is out of his depth in this whole being-a-god thing, and asked her help for Traveler Con. The rest of the party agreed, with reservations. When they reached the Menagerie oasis, they discovered Caduceus's missing family and also the Stone family who tended the shrine had all been turned to stone by a mutated gorgon. They killed the gorgon, restored many of the people, and Caduceus had a reunion with his family. He and his sister Calliope dropped their residuum crystals in the pool there, transforming them into the final form Caduceus saw in his vision. The party Teleported the Clays to Uthodurn where Reani agreed to escort them back to the Blooming Grove. The party then Teleported to Nicodranas.
There, they re-united with Orly Skiffback and the rest of the crew of the Balleater. The Empire's armada was preparing to sail to the peace talks. Spying with Frumpkin, they learned that a supposed Nicodranian lord, Dezran Thain, was actually Essek Thelyss in disguise, and that he was the traitor who gave the beacons to the Empire and was working in concert with Ludinus Da'leth. Caleb successfully cast Transmogrification to restore Nott to her true form as halfling Veth Brenatto, and she joyously reunited with her husband and son. Later, they attended a formal party at the home of Marquis Zhafe Uludan where they kidnapped Essek in his "Lord Thain" disguise back to their ship, and he admitted he was the traitor. While Caleb was prepared to forgive him, Beau and Veth were not.
The next morning, they left aboard the Balleater along with the rest of the armada traveling to the location of the peace talks with the Kryn Dynasty. Several nights out, they were attacked by multiple sea spawn and deep scions, who killed Fjord (and Orly) and attempted to drag away Fjord's body before being defeated. Fjord and Orly were successfully revivified and Greater Restoration removed the remaining Cloven Crystal from Fjord's chest. Caleb put it into his Vault of Amber. At Vess DeRogna's invitation, Beau and Caleb visited her and Ludinus Da'leth on their ship, inspected the beacon (which seemed genuine), and were offered work in the north after the talks' successful conclusion.
They reached the rendezvous and the peace talks took place, the beacon was returned, the prisoners were exchanged, and the armadas both sailed away, apparently ending the War of Ash and Light.
The party set sail for Rumblecusp and Traveler Con, but on the fourth day noticed they were being pursued by a dragon turtle. Through Jester's successful Polymorph of the turtle, the party escaped and landed safely on Rumblecusp, discovering a small village. Viridian, the leader of the villagers, told them they must meet and obtain permission for Traveler Con from Vokodo, the fire god that lived beneath the volcano. They traveled there together with Viridian, and after Vokodo demanded and received many valuable "gifts", he agreed to allow them to hold Traveler Con as long as the followers of the Traveler brought gifts to him as well. Once outside the lair, Greater Restoration removed Viridian's amnesia and she remembered her true name was Vilya.

Deciding that Vokodo must die, they explored the island and discovered a second entrance to the lair and a cache of preserved, abandoned ships behind the Heaven Falls. Using Divine Intervention, Caduceus learned that Vokodo broke through to the Material Plane from the Astral Plane to escape something hunting it. During this process, shards from multiple other planes were also pulled onto the island. The Mighty Nein decided to explore the Ruins, learning nothing useful. They returned to the ship cache to have a Heroes' Feast and rest for the night.
The next day, the group and Vilya fought and defeated Vokodo and recovered much of his hoard. They spent the next few days preparing for Traveler Con. Vilya used Transport via Plants to return to her family. The next day, Traveler Con went forward, a joyous, noisy, and chaotic celebration of dicks and the Traveler. At its culmination at the peak of the volcano, the Traveler attempted to divert his followers to worship of the Moonweaver by claiming he was her avatar. However, her true avatar appeared and began dragging Artagan off in chains, only stopping and releasing him when Jester declared her love for him and he acknowledged he'd learned his lesson.
The next morning, the group commandeered the Eden's Horizon, changing its name to Nein Heroez and turning it over to Orly Skiffback to operate. Before parting ways with their navigator, Yasha received from him Orly an emerald/residuum magical tattoo that increased her dexterity. The Mighty Nein then teleported to Nicodranas.

After a short time in Nicodranas, the party teleported to Rexxentrum to seek out Vess DeRogna and discuss the job offer in Eiselcross, and had a tense dinner with Trent Ikithon. Caleb revealed his new spell Widogast's Nascent Nein-Sided Tower, a nine-story tower in a pocket dimension for them all to stay in.
Later, when Beau identified a possible link between DeRogna and the Tombtakers, the party sought out Mollymauk's grave and discovered that his body was no longer there and was apparently alive again and in the North, with Cree. The group decided to join DeRogna and go to Eiselcross immediately in order to stop the Tombtakers. While in a ship on the way, they were attacked by an undead Avantika, but were able to defeat her and arrive safely in Balenpost. The next day, they found the dead body of Vess DeRogna, killed in the middle of the night, and hid her death while seeking out the Tombtakers with Dagen Underthorn, their hired guide. They finally found the Tombtakers in an Aeorian ruin, and their leader revealed that he was Lucien, the man whose body Mollymauk had temporarily inhabited, and that he had no memory of his time with them. He offered that the Mighty Nein meet them at another ruin. Suspicious that Lucien had bad intentions, the group managed to get there ahead of him and took the threshold crest from within before he could. The Tombtakers then caught up with them and Lucien demanded that they travel together to the next ruin. On the way there, he allowed Caleb and Beau to look within the tome that enabled him to connect with the Somnovem, which led to the appearance of red eyes on their bodies.
Before they could reach their destination, the Tombtakers stole the Mighty Nein's threshold crest, and the group nearly escaped the following battle alive, but managed to get rid of one of the crests. They made their way to the Vurmas outpost, near Aeor, where they reunited with Essek. Knowing that the Tombtakers would need at least a week to find another threshold crest, the Mighty Nein decided to leave Eiselcross to look for help before facing them again.
The Mighty Nein first visited Nicodranas, where they met with Yussa Errenis. He allowed them to question Halas Lutagran about Cognouza and teleported them to Allura Vysoren's home, where she and her wife Kima agreed to lend them tuning forks and powerful weapons. They then headed to Rexxentrum, where they warned the Cobalt Soul and asked Astrid for a way to evade Lucien's gaze. On her suggestion, they infiltrated the Vergesson Sanatorium in order to steal magical amulets, but came face to face with Trent Ikithon. They escaped to Nicodranas, but due to a slip of information, Ikithon was right behind them. The group gathered their families, whose locations were now compromised, and fleed to Yussa's tower. There, they found a scroll to Plane Shift part of the group to the Elemental Plane of Fire while three of them entered the Folding Halls of Halas to be carried inside it, and from there they all traveled to Zadash, where they left their families in the care of the Gentleman. After a stop in the Blooming Grove, they headed back to Eiselcross.

The Mighty Nein made their way back to the Vurmas outpost, and Essek joined them for the following trek to the Tombtakers' usual entrance into Aeor's ruins. They set an ambush for them inside the ruin, and within a few hours, the Tombtakers fell in their trap. Three of them died in the ambush, but Lucien and Cree got away and collapsed a tunnel behind them. The Mighty Nein began tracking them deeper into the ruins, and caught up with them in time to follow them into a portal to the Astral Sea. Once on the other side, the Nein landed inside the Cognouza ward, and found Cree amidst the horror of the living city. Once she was killed, they went looking for Lucien, who they found in a chamber with the Somnovem, where he detonated several intuit charges that severely damaged them. He then merged with the entities and gained access to a powerful amalgamation of their powers. The group defeated Lucien, freeing the hundreds of minds trapped in Cognouza, and with help from Caduceus' Divine Intervention, Caleb managed to bring Mollymauk's soul back.
The group Plane Shifted back to the Blooming Grove to rest after the battle. When Jester cast Greater Restoration on who they thought to be Molly, he awoke and told them that he was in fact someone new: Kingsley Tealeaf. Later that day, Trent Ikithon showed up at the Clay family's doorstep with Astrid and Eadwulf to confront Caleb once and for all. The group managed to subdue him with the Collar of Silence and used Sovereign Glue to remove the use of his hands, rendering him harmless. With the help of Astrid and Eawulf's testimonies, and assistance from the Cobalt Soul, Beau and Caleb brought all of Ikithon's crimes to light, and he was locked up for life.

Beauregard is a young woman of short to average height[23] with a well-defined muscular body. She has blue eyes, a medium-brown skin tone, and long dark brown hair shaved into an undercut and tied as a topknot, with a strand hanging to one side of her face. She wears multiple gold and green piercings in her ears, left eyebrow, and left nostril. Beau wore a jade necklace given to her by her father until she gave it to her brother in "Home is Where the Heart Is" (2x92).
As of her second official portrait, set around the time the Mighty Nein were in Xhorhas, Beau has a vertical scar over her left eye, as well as a large scar in the top left area of her abdomen. As of "Titles and Tattoos" (2x84), Beau has a jade green filigreed tattoo beginning at her upper back and extending up the back of her head. The tattoo is based on Mollymauk's All-Seeing Eye tarot card and is similar to his own tattoo.[24] She later received some "dope scars" from being chomped by an albino tyrannosaurus on Rumblecusp.
Debut At the start of the campaign, Beau wore baggy clothes and monk vestments in shades of blue and gray. She had a blue sash around her belt with embroidered[25] script from the Cobalt Soul written on the interior in the backside.[26] Her long dark-brown hair was tied into a topknot. While in Zadash, she customized her long sleeveless coat to be able to turn it inside out, having it cobalt blue on one side and a normal brown on the other. She later acquired brown-black, jagged leather boots embedded with studs with two spikes at the tip,[27] as well as a set of studded leather glove-like gauntlets.[28] During her time in Felderwin, she also bought a belt with extra pockets to store her money in.[29] Xhorhas After reaching Rosohna, Beauregard dramatically changed her wardrobe to include a blue sleeveless coat that originally belonged to Avantika, as well as a skin-tight dark blue ensemble with golden accents. Her hair had grown and been restyled into a combination of a topknot and a ponytail. She later started wearing a thin gold circlet with a green gem fixed in the center, wrapped in leather and braided into her hair.[30]
Expositor Due to her official promotion to Expositor, Beau received a new uniform to match her new status, similar to what she wore previously, but far more detailed. It consisted of a piece of brocaded fabric covering her shoulders, crossing over her chest in a V shape and coming to an end at the front of her waist[31], tied with a slate grey belt ending in a cobalt blue gradient. The garment was made to be worn over her clothes.[32] Eiselcross In preparation for the bitter cold of Eiselcross, Beau acquired heavy boots, grey baggy pants and a gray fur-lined vest from the Cobalt Soul. She also acquired a pin with the symbol of Ioun and began wearing her new expositor belt. Her hair had grown longer still, and she wore it in a combination of a topknot and long braid.[33]
After reading from Lucien's cursed tome,[34] Beau had a dream from the Somnovem and became marked with one of the same red eye tattoos as Molly/Lucien, on the back of her left hand.[35] She later received another dream, and a second eye appeared on the back of her neck, fully obscuring the eye of her jade tattoo.[36] The third eye appeared just above her sternum.[37] During the course of the final battle against Lucien, she ended up with two more eyes in undisclosed locations. Upon his final defeat, all five red eyes vanished from her body.

Beauregard's parents, Thoreau and Clara Lionett, were in the wine-making business in Kamordah. Beau was made to manage the bookkeeping. As the winery's most frequent customers were halflings, Beau learned the Halfling language as a result.[50]
She mentioned to Bo "The Breaker" that her name was Beauregard because her parents wanted a son.[51]
Beau thought little of her father as she grew up. Although Thoreau was not violent, she found him "standoffish and distant"[52] and his paranoia, born from his conversation with Isharnai, led to him restricting her freedoms and underestimating her capabilities. Possibly out of a desire for revenge or an attempt to force her parents to notice her, Beau began to steal and resell his wine at a mark-up. This led to her committing other crimes, including extortion and trafficking. While playing a game of chance with Molly, Beau revealed the best lie she ever told was when, not liking a politician and his wife in the town she grew up in, she worked as a house hand for them as a means to dig up dirt on them. She found out that they were each cheating on each other, causing them to break up when she exposed the information.[53] One of Beau's criminal associates was a woman named Tori, whom she was also romantically involved with. When Beau and Tori were arrested together, Beau's father Thoreau Lionett attempted to bribe Tori to agree never to see Beau again, and when Tori refused, had her sent to Zadash for trial and punishment. He told Beau that he had paid Beau's bail but not Tori's, and Beau never learned what happened to Tori after that.[54][55]
After her father discovered her bootlegging and criminal activity, he sought out and bribed an archivist of the Cobalt Soul to arrange for the "kidnapping" of his own daughter, unwilling to give her the attention she craved and unable to cope with the embarrassment and misfortune caused by her acting out. Beau described him slapping her, right before she was dragged away.[56] Beau hadn't questioned this arrangement and was unaware as to the extent of her father and Zenoth's dealings, having merely assumed that the Cobalt Soul was as corrupt as any other organization. She remained unaware of the truth behind her illegal induction into the Cobalt Soul until three years later.
Six months into her tenure as an initiate, Clara sent her a letter saying she and her husband had been "granted their greatest wish and had a son": Thoreau Lionett Jr. Beau herself took the letter to mean her parents no longer wanted any contact with her.[57] She assumed they were no longer going to pay the Cobalt Soul to train her and thought she would be doing the monks a favor by leaving.[58] And so she did so, abandoning the Valley Archive to pursue her own ends.
Pre-Stream Traveling along the Amber Road, Beau met Jester and Fjord already traveling together and joined them about a day before meeting the rest of the group.[59] On their way to study magic at the Soltryce Academy in Rexxentrum, the trio saved the daughter of Rinaldo (a fisherman in Trostenwald) from a giant snake. They also did a job involving moving boxes for the Baumbach family. Something happened during the job that caused Beau to form a grudge against them.

Archivist Zeenoth Beauregard's father paid him to take her in, teach and train her in the disciplines and lifestyle of Cobalt Soul and the ways of the Knowing Mistress. Beau does not seem to have respected him or his authority during the time he was her teacher.[136]
Despite those bumps in the road, their relationship had improved greatly as Beau learned to embrace the lessons taught to her by Dairon and her own intellectual and emotional maturity. This change in their dynamic came to a head after the attack on the Valley Archive that almost resulted in his death as well as her promotion to Expositor after which she openly apologized for her past abrasiveness, shocking those present including those who wouldn't have expected Beau to do such a thing.[137] Since then, the two monks have had a more amicable relationship, no hard feelings between them despite the time the Mighty Nein traipsed into the Archive on horseback to use the teleportation circles and the following shenanigans leaving him a very flustered and nervous wreck.[138]
This was not meant to last, however, as her past suspicions about him later proved to be justified upon learning of his corruption and his acceptance of Thoreau's bribes by Yudala Fon, on top of other illegal activities that the archivist had done.[139] This forever burned that bridge between them, as Beau eventually stood and testified against Zeenoth in court after the events in Eiselcross transpired.
Caduceus Clay Beau is impressed by Caduceus's calming presence and ability to remain calm under pressure. However, she was one of the first members of the party to notice that Caduceus was perhaps not quite as content as he may seem, mentioning to Jester that he was "kind of a hot mess who might need help sometimes."[140]
Caleb Widogast Main article: Relationship between Caleb and Beauregard Empire Kids - Aurex Aldori Fan art of Beauregard and Caleb, by Aurex Aldori.[art 27]
Caleb and Beauregard are very good friends. Although their relationship had a rocky start, they quickly came to rely on each other and eventually grew very close. The two are also the dedicated researchers of the group and will team up when trying to solve a problem.
Being the only two Empire-born human citizens in the Mighty Nein, Caleb and Beau have a rather unique friendship among the group, and have a lot in common. Although Beau is much more expressive and confrontational, they share a similar awkwardness in social situations. They were both raised in the Dwendalian Empire, but think it is a flawed nation and want to actively make things better for the people of the Empire, especially if it means dismanteling the current power structure. They also share a sharp analytical mind and vast general knowledge, especially when it comes to history.
Beau was one of the first people to hear about Caleb's past, and never shared his secret until he was ready to do so himself. Caleb has shown trust in Beauregard numerous times by chosing to hang onto her shoulder while his senses were transfered into his companion, Frumpkin. Beauregard has called Caleb her best friend, and Beauregard is probably the person Caleb trusts most after Veth.

Expositor Dairon The expositor was specially called in by Archivist Zeenoth to help find Beauregard, whereupon Dairon released Archivist Zeenoth from any responsibility concerning Beau's teaching. Dairon then trained Beauregard in the monk tradition of the Way of the Cobalt Soul late at night within a warehouse belonging to the Baumbauch Family Brewery. Beau seems to admire Dairon's skills and showed concern for her when the party found out how far into the Empire the war had moved while they were at sea. Beau wants to impress Dairon. She proudly told Dairon that the Mighty Nein have done good things and she herself has found lots of good information. Beau takes Dairon's advice to heart. When the Mighty Nein first encountered the Beacon, Beau suggested turning it into the Cobalt Soul, believing them to be more trustworthy than the Dwendalian Empire. However, between finding the artifact and her next conversation with Dairon, after learning how powerful the Beacon is, Beau did not tell Dairon about it. Her reasons for keeping the Beacon secret from Dairon were unknown. As Beau's skills improved and her overall self evolved and matured, Dairon had grown so proud of their pupil for taking a stand against corruption, thus prompting Beau's promotion to Expositor which was later made official upon their reunion in Zadash some time later. It was later revealed that Dairon had personally investigated her protegé's claims about being kidnapped, and sussed out Archivist Zeenoth as the culprit who along with Thoreau Lionett orchestrated Beau's illegal "acquisition" and forced tutelage. The archivist was subsequently arrested. Dairon would later eventually act as the prosecutor in the subsequent trial, with Beau's testimony sealing Zeenoth's fate. Initially Dairon had a strong prejudice against the Kryn, born from personal history and being subject to Empire propaganda. That changed dramatically due to Beau's own insistence that her mentor see the forest for the trees as well as being behind enemy lines for so long. Dairon grew to understand that the Kryn at their core are just trying to make a living and survive in a time of conflict, not unlike the Empire. Fjord Main article: Relationship between Beauregard and Fjord Beau met Fjord, along with Jester, about a day before the rest of the party. The trio fought a snake together before the events of the first episode. Beau and Fjord seemed to have already established some trust and rapport as both are laid back, though Fjord tends towards being charming (if, at times, disingenuous) while Beau, in contrast, is blunt and outspoken. They seem to be the "go-getters" of the group when it comes to making contacts and steering the direction of The Mighty Nein. Fjord coaches Beau in improving her social skills. She often asks him for notes and suggestions for improvement after negotiating with someone. Beau caught on to Fjord misleading the party about his dreams and his accent, but it doesn't seem to bother her that he might be keeping secrets. Fjord and Beau further bonded over managing the Balleater after Beau became his First Mate in "The Stowaway". Beau had mentioned to Fjord that she looks up to him and had thoughts about sailing the seas together after finishing up with the Mighty Nein, although this plan eventually fizzled out.

Nila Nila met Beau after witnessing their first fight with Lorenzo. She offered the group some needed moral support and said that in her tribe, the spirits of the deceased go back into the surrounding nature. Therefore, the spirit of Mollymauk would always be around and watching over them. This sentiment was very comforting to Beau, as it meant that he was never truly gone. While in the lair of the Iron Sheperds, Beau told Nila to escape with her family before the slavers came back. Nila reluctantly agreed with her, and told Caduceus that the Guitao Tribe would make their way to the Blooming Grove to protect the area.
Mollymauk Tealeaf Beau gemstone tattoo - Ameera Fan art of Beau's gemstone tattoo, inspired by Molly's, by Ameera.[art 29]
Beau and Molly had an interesting relationship. Beau's natural suspicion of people combined with Molly's flamboyant lies and deflection caused friction at first, but after Molly's backstory reveal Beau admitted to liking him better. The two got high together off the skein they bought in Trostenwald, and their relationship had become less antagonistic. At the Harvest Close Festival, Beau used the two wooden swords Nott won to impersonate Molly, and after Beau drank numerous half-empty mugs of leftover alcohol from a bar, Molly called her a "trash person", but paradoxically not in an insulting manner.
After Molly's death, Beau displayed a new tenderness towards her fallen companion, speaking in particular about how she doubted his "leave things better than you find them" attitude at first, but eventually grew to understand it. She also later had Orly give her a tattoo of the all-seeing eye on the back of her neck, matching the one that Molly had.
Veth Brenatto Main article: Relationship between Beauregard and Veth Beau and Nott have had a slow warming up to one another, largely due to their mutual friendship with Caleb. Nott seems impressed by Beau's Cobalt Soul status, thinking she is a cool secret agent.[148] The three of them share the bond of having family in the Dwendalian Empire.
Beau is impressed with Nott's bravery and resilience facing her fear of water, especially after learning Nott had been drowned in her previous life.[149]
Nott was the first person who Beau confided in about her crush on Jester.
When the Mighty Nein found Isharnai, Beau was the first to offer a deal in exchange for Nott's curse being lifted. She offered to give up every accomplishment she'd achieved and every shred of happiness she'd found, and go into exile away from both her blood family and her found family. She had made up her mind to go through with the deal before Jester successful tricked Isharnai into breaking the curse.
Beau and Nott maintained a friendly rivalry, especially after the latter was restored to her true halfling form of Veth Brenatto. Veth, in her own sneaky ways, caught on to the nurturing bond of love between the monk and Yasha. While playfully teasing at first, Veth eventually gave Beau advice in preparation for the latter's date with the barbarian, saying that she should plan a moment where she can be honest and open and vulnerable, and be "likable". Beau took this advice to heart and eventually she and Yasha confessed their feelings to each other. Keg Beau frequently impressed Keg with her skills, leading to frequent comments of "Keg is aroused."[146] As part of the ongoing joke, Beau flipped the comment and admitted to being aroused by Keg in "The Stalking Nightmare" (2x29).[147] After they slew Lorenzo, she asked Keg to spend the night with her, an offer which Keg accepted.

Yasha Nydoorin Main article: Relationship between Yasha and Beauregard Beau being carried by Yasha - heidzdraws Fan art of Beau being carried by Yasha, by heidzdraws.[art 30]
“ "It's strange. Because I feel like I've never known anyone deeper than I know you. And at the same time, I feel like there's still so much more to learn. A lifetime to learn. And I am so excited to explore every bit of you in multiple layers." ” – Beauregard Lionett, to Yasha Nydoorin [150] Beauregard and Yasha are lovers. Because Yasha is very reserved, and left the party often, their relationship took a while to develop past Beauregard's initial one-sided attraction. However, they have grown much closer, sharing playful moments, watching each other's backs and teaming up in battle. They have a lot of admiration for each other.
Beau has been attracted to Yasha and flirted with her since they met, but backed off out of respect when she learned Yasha was still mourning her wife, Zuala. After much time, as Yasha showed signs of having moved on and being open to a new relationship, the two began flirting openly. Every member of the Mighty Nein seems aware and supportive of their mutual affection, especially Jester, who has talked privately to both of them about their romantic interests and has tried to push them towards each other. After Yasha gave Beauregard a letter to tell her what she admires and loves about her, and that she feels safe knowing Beau's watching her back, Beau read it one late night in Caleb's Tower. Beau then started to plan a way to respond, eventually stopping Yasha on their way to stealing an ancient relic, and asked her out on a date to which the barbarian accepted, much to Beau's relief. The date finally occurred within the Nein-Sided Tower, fully renovated as per Beau's extensive instructions. Having the night to themselves, they bared themselves openly - heart, body, and soul - to each other, consummating their long anticipated relationship with kisses, ninja dogs... and confessions of love. And they have remained together ever since, settling down in Rexxentrum. After some time they got married,[151] and they were in a sincere relationship, even being willing to speak about boundaries and redefining its terms, were the both of them be interested in doing so.[152]
Reani Though Beau seemed hesitant about Reani's perky attitude at first, she, like the rest of the Nein, grew to like and accept Reani. Back at the Cinderrest Sanctum after their win against Gelidon and the Tumblecarves, a slightly drunk and nervous Reani attempted to give Beauregard a rose. Instead of taking it, Beau pulled Reani in for a kiss, and the two walked away to spend some unspecified time alone. After this, Beau promised to come back and visit Reani, who seemed excited at the prospect of her returning.

Jester Lavorre Main article: Relationship between Jester and Beauregard Fan art of Jester and Beau, by Amy King. Jester and Beauregard are close friends. They agree on most things and have similar spontaneous trouble maker personalities. They also both grew up in a rich but lonely household and can relate to each other on multiple aspects. Even when they had just met, Beau and Jester had a lot of chemistry, bouncing jokes off of each other and backing the other's sometimes questionable decisions. When the Mighty Nein have booked rooms in inns and taverns throughout their journey, Beau and Jester made a habit of rooming together, and even share a room in the Xhorxhaus. Beau is highly protective of Jester, but has stressed to anyone who doubts Jester's physical capabilities that she can protect herself. The two of them always support and look out for each other. Although Beauregard initially had a sisterly relationship with Jester, she eventually developed a crush on the tiefling. Their friendship remained unchanged, however, and as Beauregard's relationship with Yasha evolved, she shifted her romantic interests towards the barbarian. Jester has never indicated that she was aware of the crush, and has always been very enthusiastic about Beauregard and Yasha's relationship. Thoreau Lionett Beau has had an antagonistic relationship with her father. Though he trained her to take over the family business, she describes herself as a disappointment to him, and they often fought. Beau began by being accepting of her role as her father's heir and wanting to do well in it. She wanted to expand their business, traveling with their product, but he felt this would put her and his legacy in danger. Beau was desperate for attention from her parents, so she stole her father's wine and sold it on the black market. After her eventual arrest for her criminal activities, Thoreau bailed her out of jail, then bribed Archivist Zeenoth of the Cobalt Soul to take her away, slapping her when she resisted. When Beau eventually returned to Kamordah, Thoreau looked as though he had seen a ghost. He told Beau that he was proud of her achievements and admitted he made mistakes with her and he didn't show her he loved her. He attributed his "missteps" to her not being an easy child to deal with, and having had a bad father himself. He told her "Don't think for any moment your mother and I haven't loved you from the depths of our hearts this entire time. I'm sorry if we didn't show it properly."[153] Beau felt he had not admitted his own faults nor apologized for his actions, which ultimately eliminated any chance of her granting him forgiveness.[154] When he discovered she was going to see the hag of his past, and that she had given her jade necklace to TJ, he dashed off to get Clara's jade necklace, giving it to Beau for protection. Beau left the encounter in tears.
Thoreau's reckoning would eventually come when his deal with Zeenoth was brought to light. Beau's testimony against her father and the archivist exposed their crime and forever ruined their reputations. And in their last meeting, she took off her expositor pin and put it into his palm with the words "Give this to TJ for me." She didn't look back to him as he was dragged out of the courtroom.

Clara Lionett Beau's mother came from a wealthy family, and Thoreau built a fortune in order to prove himself worthy to her family. She was more sympathetic and empathetic to Beau than her father, but did not stand up to Thoreau on Beau's behalf. Clara seemed glad to see Beau upon her return to Kamordah, and was willing to give her anything she asked for, including a rare and expensive wine which Thoreau would have held back. She apologized to Beau for the past, though was silent when Beau asked if she knew she was pregnant before sending Beau away.[155] Before leaving, Beau told Clara: "You're allowed to have an opinion too, Mom".[156] Beau gets her blue eyes from her mother.[157]
Beau's testimony against her father would eventually give Clara the realization that Thoreau had kept her in the dark the whole time as well as the impetus to leave him, taking her son with her.
Thoreau Junior Beau's brother was born about six months after she was taken away by the Cobalt Soul. Upon meeting Beau for the first time, "TJ" embraced her warmly, and she gave him the jade necklace Thoreau had given her.[158]
Imogen Temult Despite the initial hostility between them they agreed to work together in the Red Center. Later, Beau admitted to Yasha that she found the sorcerer attractive.[159]

Caduceus lived with his family at the sanctuary-like graveyard of the Blooming Grove. Located within the depths of the Savalirwood, it was known by those of Shadycreek Run to the southeast as the Bone Orchard. Predating Shadycreek Run, and surrounded by the cursed blighted woods, the old stone church that stood there was surrounded by three consecutive rings of rusted fence built to hold back the continually encroaching razor-like grey-purple thorn vines, which had just breached the third fence in 835 P.D.

Beauregard Main article: Relationship between Beauregard and Caduceus Early on, Beauregard was Caduceus' favorite member of the Mighty Nein.[67] She was one of the first members of the party to notice that Caduceus was perhaps not quite as content as he may seem, mentioning to Jester that he was "kind of a hot mess who might need help sometimes."[68] After adventuring in the Happy Fun Ball for the first time, Caduceus and Beau shared a moment on the deck of the Balleater. They agreed that they would take care of the rest of the party.[69]
Caleb Widogast Main article: Relationship between Caduceus and Caleb Caduceus commonly referred to and addressed Caleb formally as "Mister Caleb." He has expressed to Caleb that he believes the world is shaping Caleb into something important, and that he wants to ensure that he helps Caleb get to that point.[70] Caduceus seems to respect Caleb's magical knowledge. He believes Caleb has an "air of authority" and can be a little intimidating.[71] Caduceus also believes that Caleb is occasionally "up his own butt" a bit. [72]
Clay Family Witch of the Savalirwood - ambrosiorum Fan art of the witch of the Savalirwood, by ambrosiorum.[art 23]
Caduceus previously lived with his parents, two sisters, brother and aunt, but they all left the Blooming Grove one by one to find and fight off the source of the cursed blight that had overtaken the Savalirwood and had been encroaching on their land for over one hundred years. When he met the Mighty Nein, he did not know where the rest of his family was. One of his sisters had been the last to leave going east around eighteen to twenty seasons ago. One of Caduceus's sisters that he is very proud of made his armor.[73] Though Caduceus generally likes everyone, he has ill feelings towards his brother Colton.[74] Caduceus tends to be a prankster around his family, as shown near the end of "Family Shatters" (2x96). He is also considered "a little eccentric" in his family circle.[75]
Caduceus chose the pirate alias "Cornelius" because it was his father's name.[76] Caduceus briefly had spoken of his Aunt Corrin, saying that she mentioned finding other temples to the Wildmother before she left the Blooming Grove.[77] Caduceus's sisters were named Calliope and Clarabelle, and Caduceus named his moorbounder after Clarabelle because "she's weird too".[78]
Caduceus eventually reunited with his family in "Family Shatters" (2x96) after traveling to The Menagerie. They had all been petrified by a gorgon at this point in their journey, some for many years. Every petrified member of the family was reanimated (although the petrified body of Corrin had been shattered, it was Mended back together so she could be revived). After completing the last step of his quest with his sister Calliope, Caduceus decided that he would not return to the Blooming Grove with the rest of his family, stating that he owed it to the Mighty Nein to see them through, that some of them still needed him. His parents accepted his decision and told him how proud they were of him. He bid farewell to his siblings, giving Clarabelle his straw hat.
Essek Thelyss Caduceus took a liking to Essek soon after they first met.[79] Essek is always polite to Caduceus, complimenting his culinary skills and thanking him for healing.[80][81] After finding out about his betrayal, Caduceus thought that Essek should be given a second chance rather than punished, and was open about still trusting him and considering him a friend.[82] After the Nein defeated Cognouza, Essek spent a few days gardening in the Blooming Grove. Caduceus gave him permission to take samples of some of the unique plants there to experiment on.[83]

Fjord Main article: Relationship between Caduceus and Fjord Fjord's symbol of Melora - Doug Myers Fan art of Fjord's symbol of Melora, by Doug Myers.[art 24]
Fjord and Caduceus are very good friends. The two of them initially had little in common, but grew closer as they traveled. Fjord has come to rely on Caduceus's counsel when it comes to making responsible decisions and understanding others' motivations. Fjord and Caduceus have deep trust and respect for each other.
Caduceus has become something of a mentor to Fjord since the latter broke his pact with Uk'otoa, guiding him when he lost all his powers. Fjord even decided to make a pact with the Wildmother, inspired by Caduceus's bond with her. Caduceus considers Fjord to be something of an angsty teen.[84] However, he is very proud of Fjord for not being lured by the power that Uk'otoa seems to promise. Caduceus thinks it is very admirable that Fjord did not lose his sense of self during the Mighty Nein's time at sea.[85]
Jester Lavorre Main article: Relationship between Caduceus and Jester At first Jester had been wary of a new cleric, and Caduceus initially didn't regard Jester as an adult,[86] but the two have grown close over time. They have often bonded over being able to cast some of the same spells, such as Control Water and Create Food and Water during extended sea journeys.[87]
The two bonded over their new home in the Dynasty, growing a giant tree and creating essentially Christmas lights out of small glass jars with daylight in them. They combined their efforts again to make a hot tub in their house. They also have a mutual appreciation for each other's deities, allowing space for both of their patrons in their home.
The Wildmother Caduceus has worshiped Melora his whole life. His family is charged with overseeing the Blooming Grove, a holy site gifted by the Wildmother to the Archeart. Caduceus shows his devotion to the Wildmother by meditating and following her teachings. He is vegetarian, and holds a deep respect for the sanctity of the natural cycle of life and death. In return, he is occasionally given dreams and visions. As a cleric, Caduceus' powers stem from his faith. He frequently casts Commune to ask the Wildmother for information and advice. Caduceus has succeeded at summoning Melora's aid via Divine Intervention a staggering three times.
Veth Brenatto Main article: Relationship between Caduceus and Veth Caduceus was disappointed in Nott over how much she drank, although he would never say that out loud. [88] He did encourage Nott to deal with her emotions without alcohol after she told the Mighty Nein about her reincarnation, but seemed sympathetic and understanding of her addiction.[89] Caduceus was accidentally killed by one of Nott's explosive arrows under the well in Asarius. However, after he was revived, he accepted her apology and explained that he wasn't upset.[90] When Veth's son was killed, Caduceus was able to revive him.[91]
Veth asked Caduceus' advice about whether she should stay with her family or go with the party. Caduceus told her he didn't fear for Luc's happiness even if bad things happened, but that he, Caduceus, needed her. She decided to come with the Nein.[92]
Yasha Nydoorin Main article: Relationship between Caduceus and Yasha Caduceus is impressed by Yasha's faith in The Stormlord and by the fact that she seems to have earned his personal attention.[93] When Yasha was under Obann's control, Caduceus believed that her actions were not her own, and believed that they would be able to free her. Later on, it was Caduceus who freed Yasha by casting Dispel Magic on the sigil on her neck.[94]
In Rexxentrum, Caduceus confided in Yasha that he didn’t want to go home to his family yet, as he was afraid he’d miss travelling with the Nein. They each told the other that they thought they were "pretty great".[95]

Background Born Bren Aldric Ermendrud, Caleb was from a small town named Blumenthal near Rexxentrum in the Zemni Fields. His father Leofric was a member of the Righteous Brand.
His mother and father were incredibly poor, to the point that he once said they hadn't made fifty gold in their entire lives, though this may have been an exaggeration.
Critical Role: The Mighty Nein Origins: Caleb Widogast Bren attended the Soltryce Academy at 15 (around 817 PD), and stated that for the first time he felt as though he belonged. He dreamed of becoming a teacher in the Academy. However, he came under the tutelage of the abusive Trent Ikithon a bit over a year later. Trent singled out three students from Bren's hometown (Bren, Eadwulf Grieve, and Astrid Becke), and used them in human experimentation, embedding crystals into their skin in an attempt to increase their power. Caleb later learned that these crystals were refined residuum. All three of the students were also trained to interrogate and execute dissidents to the Empire as Volstrucker, or "Scourgers". In addition, at some point during this time, Bren fell in love with his fellow students, both Astrid and Eadwulf, and had a polyamorous relationship with them.
When Bren was around 17, as a test of his three students' loyalty, Trent modified their memories so they believed that their parents had betrayed the empire. The three killed their parents, but Bren "broke" when he heard his parents' screams from inside their burning house. Bren spent the next eleven years in the Vergesson Sanatorium until a fellow patient touched him, removing both his madness and his fake memories. After that, he killed one of the guards, took a necklace to hide from Ikithon, and escaped. He started going by multiple aliases and hid from Trent for the next five years. During this time, Caleb discovered that people did not pay attention to poor, dirty wanderers and maintained a disheveled appearance to escape notice. While he still had hopes not to let his parents down, Bren considered murdering them to be an unforgivable act on his part.
Approximately five years after his escape from the asylum, Nott and Caleb met in a small jail (where he introduced himself to Nott as "Caleb Widogast"), from which they escaped together. Caleb came up with their escape plan, using Frumpkin to bring a piece of wire into their cell which Nott used to pick the lock. Caleb proceeded to set the jail on fire and scream for help. The guards promptly fled, and Caleb and Nott walked out of the jail together, staying together first out of convenience, but then for several months.[65] They survived by petty theft, trickery, and con schemes, living from hand to mouth as wandering hobos.
The day before they met the rest of the Mighty Nein, Nott and Caleb were attacked by a pack of gnolls hiding in grass, and Caleb was knocked unconscious. Nott fed him the health potion Caleb carried on his belt, saving his life. Nott blamed herself for their inability to stay in any place for long without getting into trouble. It was Caleb's idea to stay in Trostenwald to find new companions "to tag along with."

Leofric and Una Ermendrud
Una and Leofric were Caleb's parents. Leofric was a soldier in the Empire forces, and both Una and Leofric believed strongly in the Empire.
Caleb had a happy childhood in the farming community of Blumenthal, and was selected to attend the Soltryce Academy. When Trent Ikithon gave his students the final task of killing their parents who were supposedly traitors to the Dwendalian Empire, Caleb "broke" when he heard his parents screaming inside their flaming house.
Caleb believes that killing his parents was an irredeemably evil act, and his goal when he met the Mighty Nein was to change time to erase the event. He has since realized that the more patriotic thing to do, and a better way to honor his parents, would be to make sure that the corruption of children by the Empire is stopped.
After helping Beauregard expose the corruption of the Cerberus Assembly, Caleb visited his parent's gravesite and took out the second book from his coat. This book contained letters that he had written to them while traveling with the Mighty Nein. Caleb then cast Teleport to move the book between his parent's bodies. When he had to face Trent for a second time, years later, he used undead versions of Una and Leofric against the adventurer, but he, despite having conflicted feelings about them, knew those creatures weren't his mother and father.
Frumpkin
Caleb is fond of Frumpkin. Outside of times when he uses Frumpkin to advance his goals, Caleb treats Frumpkin like a domestic cat, frequently showing him physical affection and getting emotional support from him in stressful or sad moments. Caleb knows that Frumpkin prefers to be in cat form, but is willing to change him to other forms when necessary.Frumpkin is named after Liam’s childhood cat of the same name.
Caleb was willing to share Frumpkin with others as a reward or when he sensed they too needed emotional support. For instance, he gave him to Yasha to hold when she rejoined the party, he sent him to Kiri to try to calm her, and loaned him to Beauregard to thank her for not telling anyone about his past.
Though Frumpkin has died on multiple occasions, this does not seem to bother Caleb or Frumpkin. Caleb has stated that Frumpkin has a good sense of humor about it. He has let Nott eat Frumpkin twice. Even though Frumpkin's deaths are temporary, Caleb takes it personally when someone other than Nott kills him.
Caleb decided to release Frumpkin after coming to terms with his past and his possible chance of death at the hands of Lucien.
Veth Brenatto
Caleb and Veth are best friends and love each other unconditionally, often referring to themselves as part of a family. They met when they were both going through very difficult times, and have supported each other throughout their journeys, helping each other overcome many obstacles. The two have been overly protective of each other since before they met the Mighty Nein.
Caleb cares a lot about Veth. He has taught her many magic tricks, and when she started creating her own spells, he was very impressed and proud of her. He tirelessly helped Veth find a way to be a halfling again, and was the one who finally transformed her back into her true self. He has also supported her and helped come up with solutions when Veth shared her doubts about staying with the Mighty Nein versus living with her husband and son. Veth has a lot of love for Caleb, often checking up on him and looking for ways to make him happy. Veth once described Caleb as being like a son to her. Later, she said she had been attracted to him when they first met, but no longer feels that way about him. Veth has told Caleb that he was the "second love of her life", to which Caleb responded, "I love you too, Veth the Brave."

Beauregard Lionett
Caleb and Beauregard are very good friends. Although their relationship had a rocky start, they quickly came to rely on each other and eventually grew very close. The two are also the dedicated researchers of the group and will team up when trying to solve a problem.
Being the only two Empire-born human citizens in the Mighty Nein, Caleb and Beau have a rather unique friendship among the group, and have a lot in common. Although Beau is much more expressive and confrontational, they share a similar awkwardness in social situations. They were both raised in the Dwendalian Empire, but think it is a flawed nation and want to actively make things better for the people of the Empire, especially if it means dismantling the current power structure. They also share a sharp analytical mind and vast general knowledge, especially when it comes to history.
Beau was one of the first people to hear about Caleb's past, and never shared his secret until he was ready to do so himself. Caleb has shown trust in Beauregard numerous times by choosing to hang onto her shoulder while his senses were transferred into his companion, Frumpkin. Beauregard has called Caleb her best friend, and Beauregard is probably the person Caleb trusts most after Veth.
Jester Lavorre
Jester and Caleb are very close friends. Their relationship has evolved significantly since the beginning of the campaign. It had a rocky start, as Jester came from a sheltered, lavish upbringing and Caleb had a very troubled past and came from a poor household, which meant their worldviews were very different. Initially, their interactions mostly involved teasing from Jester. However, it has since evolved. Caleb developed a crush on Jester, which has heavily influenced his goals and view of the world. Jester has in turn come to rely on him to provide emotional understanding and support.
Caleb has been "a little in love" with Jester since their waltz in "The Hour of Honor", although he regards his feelings as "useless" and "a problem" and feels that either Beau or Fjord would be better for her. Caleb appreciates Jester's positive attitude and playfulness that remind him of the life he could have had, if things had gone differently for him, and during the time before he revealed his past to her enjoyed the fact that she saw him as he could or should have been. Although he hides his feelings, Caleb often goes out of his ways with gestures to please or help Jester, and she always thanks him sweetly. Jester has never mentioned romantic feelings towards Caleb, but cares a lot about him platonically. She often includes him in conversation, teases him, and tries to cheer him up. She has several times admitted to him her doubts and fears that she hides from the rest of the party.

Fjord
Caleb and Fjord are friends. Upon joining forces, Fjord and Caleb quickly developed a collaborative working relationship. As an aspiring magic-user himself, Fjord complimented Caleb on his spells and sought his advice on arcane matters. Caleb admired Fjord's mind and his ability to get things done. Their relationship became more strained when the Mighty Nein infiltrated the High Richter's house in Zadash and during the Mighty Nein's time at sea. Caleb became suspicious of Fjord and his motives and noticed that his accent sometimes changed. However, Caleb seemed to sympathize with Fjord's conflicted feelings finding out that his mentor Vandran turned out to be a different man than Fjord thought he was.
At the Diver's Grave, Fjord was curious about the purpose and power of Dashilla's altar, and urged Caleb to explore it. Caleb offered to do so in return for unspecified favor at some point in the future, and they both cut themselves and used their blood to activate the altar, stopping just before completing the ritual. Liam O'Brien later confirmed on Talks Machina that Caleb was manipulating Fjord in this scene, and that he hated himself for doing so.
Caleb respected Fjord's desire to tell him about his past at his own pace. After Fjord lost his powers by throwing the falchion into the lava of Kravaraad, Caleb stepped forward, gave him his Glove of Blasting, and asked the group for other magic items to help him out. He also mentioned to Fjord that his sense of diplomacy had nothing to do with any magical gifts, but rather his persuasive nature. After being gifted Melora's boon, Fjord asked Caleb if he wanted the Glove of Blasting back. Caleb told Fjord that he could keep it.
On the ship sailing to the peace negotiations, Fjord apologized to Caleb for holding the sword to his throat during the heist in the High-Richter's home in Zadash, admitting that it came out of his desire to control the situation. Caleb told him that Fjord had been justified in his actions, revealing that he had killed his parents for the Cerberus Assembly. Although he believed he himself was ruined, he wanted to do something to make up for it. Fjord said he knew that Caleb had done terrible things, but he saw a good man and a good friend, and that the party would look to Caleb for cues on how to deal with the Assembly.
Yasha Nydoorin Caleb and Yasha are friends. Caleb likes Yasha due to their similar personalities and mutual dislike of, and uncomfortableness with, close contact. After asking her for advice regarding social situations, Yasha listed off a few things that she believed would make people like Caleb more (which he wrote down) and shaved his face with her sword after Caleb mentioned that he missed being cleanly shaven. Caleb asked if this made them friends, and Yasha said that it did.
Caleb and Yasha have similar tragic backgrounds, feeling responsible for the death of a loved one. They bonded over their feelings of guilt and grief. On Rumblecusp, Caleb told Yasha that she deserved happiness and that he was glad to be friends with her. Yasha then gave him a big hug.
Mollymauk Tealeaf Caleb and Molly were friends. When Caleb dissociated after burning a man to death in a gnoll lair, Mollymauk doused the flames, slapped Caleb in the face and encouraged him to deal with those feelings later. Molly then asked if he was alright, and kissed Caleb on the forehead. When the party later pressed Caleb on his dissociation and he pointed out that it was a traumatizing experience, Molly suggested using alcohol to numb the pain.
Caleb was present for Molly's death and funeral, eulogizing him by saying "shine bright, circus man." In Cognouza, Caleb was the one who attempted to bring Molly back to life by sacrificing his transmuter's stone.
Caduceus Clay Caleb and Caduceus are friends. Upon meeting Caduceus, Caleb whispered multiple times to Beau that he "like(s) this man." He appreciates Caduceus' calm demeanor. After Clay nearly drowned multiple times, Caleb gave him Mollymauk's Periapt of Wound Closure. Caduceus is also one of the few members of the Mighty Nein that did not mind Caleb's smell, and thought he smelled "fantastic." While the two have very different takes on the concept of destiny, they nonetheless get along and support each other.

Essek Thelyss Caleb and Essek are lifelong friends, and are romantic partners after the end of the campaign. Their friendship began after the Mighty Nein were assigned to Essek’s stewardship, and Essek agreed to tutor a curious Caleb in dunamancy. A connection soon sparked between them thanks to their shared passion for magic.
Their relationship became complicated after the revelation that Essek had given the beacons to the Cerberus Assembly. However, Caleb saw deep similarities between their mistakes, and encouraged Essek to make amends for his crimes. When they reunited at Vurmas Outpost, Essek showed new regret for his actions, and couldn’t make eye contact with Caleb at all.
The two wizards rebuilt their bond during their time in Aeor, discussing their past sins and working together. Some months after Lucien and Trent were defeated, they returned to the Temporal Dock in Aeor. Essek said he didn’t want to change a thing about his past, since his mistakes had led him to be here with Caleb. Caleb destroyed the T-Dock, and the two later began a romantic relationship. By 843 PD they were still together, and Caleb had been teaching Essek some Zemnian. Moreover, Essek seemed comfortable calling his partner by his birth name, "Bren", in front of other people. During this period of their lives the two of them shared a home in Rexxentrum and were apparently very passionate lovers, since all the rooms in the house counted as "sex rooms".
Eventually the two wizards separated due to the differences in elven and human aging, but they remained close friends for the rest of Caleb’s life.
Astrid and Eadwulf
Astrid, Eadwulf, and Bren were all from the small farming community of Blumenthal in the Zemni Fields of the Dwendalian Empire, although they didn’t know each other before being selected to attend the Soltryce Academy in Rexxentrum. There, they were close friends, and at some point Bren entered into a serious romantic relationship with Astrid and Eadwulf when they all were in their late teens. The three were selected to undergo Trent Ikithon's Volstrucker training together and were used in his human experimentation of embedding refined residuum crystals into their skin. All three of them were also trained to interrogate and execute dissidents to the Empire. While Bren went insane after murdering his parents, Astrid and Eadwulf passed Trent's final test and became successful Scourgers.
Caleb saw Eadwulf at the Vergesson Sanatorium when the Mighty Nein were checking on the Luxon beacon held there. Caleb greeted him as they were leaving, saying it was good to see him again. Eadwulf returned the greeting, saying that Bren/Caleb looked good, but remaining impassive.
“ I will... never forget what we were. And, even now, all these years later, I can't shake it, I still care a great deal... about you. At least, the girl I knew. ” – Caleb to Astrid. While in Rexxentrum, Caleb went privately to see Astrid at her home. She welcomed him, was seemingly honest in her responses to his questions, and invited him to stay longer. When he left, she told him he was welcome back any time and she would like to see more of him. When the Mighty Nein returned to Rexxentrum after Traveler Con, Caleb and the group received an invitation from Trent Ikithon to have dinner with him, Astrid, and Eadwulf at Trent's home in The Candles. The dinner was tense, culminating in Trent's revealing that he believed Bren had the potential to replace him as a member of the Cerberus Assembly. Eadwulf and Astrid told Caleb that if that happened, they would follow him and do as he commanded. Caleb brought up his prior conversation with Astrid where he had the impression that she was being groomed for Trent's seat, and she nervously shut down the inquiry. After the dinner when Eadwulf and Astrid walked the party outside to the gate, Astrid asked Caleb if he meant what he said inside, that he meant to stop Trent, and Caleb confirmed. Her response: "Race you to the top."
Astrid and Eadwulf were present in the Mighty Nein's battle against Trent, eventually turning on their abuser and helping Caleb defeat him. They later collaborated with Caleb and Beau in sharing their story with the Cobalt Soul.

Luc Brenatto Luc is the son of Caleb's best friend, Veth, and Caleb has made multiple efforts to comfort and connect with Luc. In one instance, Caleb invited Luc to help him work on his teleportation sigil. Later, Caleb told Luc that he had potential and, in the future, if Luc wanted to learn magic, he should come see Caleb (Luc would eventually learn the Dancing Lights cantrip in 837 PD, thanks to Caleb's teachings to the Wildemount Wildlings). Years later Caleb had become Luc's official godfather and teacher, and loved him accordingly. Because of this, he was strict with him when needed, expressing his concern about him being exposed to danger too soon, or the way he spoke about Veth in his most rebellious moments; despite the occasional disagreement, Luc admired him a lot.

Fjord was orphaned and grew up in the Driftwood Asylum orphanage in Port Damali in the Menagerie Coast. He does not know who his parents were, and his earliest memories are of the Driftwood Asylum. Grankton, the headmaster of the orphanage, gave him the last name "Stone" to remind him that he had been cast aside, like a stone. Life in the orphanage was difficult: the orphanage was associated with the Myriad, and the children were set to work creating wooden goods for sale.
He described himself as a chubby, short, mis-proportioned stumpy kid with big teeth. He was the only half-orc child in the orphanage, and the other children teased him relentlessly for being different; the leader of those bullies was Sabian, a half-elf and a cruel boy, although popular with the other orphans, and he enjoyed bullying Fjord and making the other children behave in a similar way, both in private and during tasks Headmaster Grankton gave the children. The hurtful comments about his appearance, particularly those about his tusks, drove Fjord to shorten them himself to ward off the teasing. Because his tusks continually grow, Fjord began shortening them regularly, despite how painful it was; he claimed he continued to do so in adulthood out of habit, not "necessarily" because he felt the same about his tusks as in childhood, but he generally remained self-conscious when others noticed his tusks
He eventually worked at the docks, at one point loading and off-loading goods for the Pink Giver. Around 822 PD Captain Vandran of the Tide's Breath arrived at the orphanage looking for new crew members, and Fjord volunteered, despite the fact that Sabian was going too. They both spent many years as part of the merchant ship's crew, and Fjord worked primarily as a boatswain, with some additional responsibilities in barrel-keeping, and ultimately became the ship's first mate and quartermaster.[ Vandran grew fond of Fjord, mentoring him throughout the years, and they developed a close personal relationship in which Fjord considered him like a father and Vandran grew paternally protective of Fjord. During that whole period Sabian didn't show his dislike towards Fjord openly, but he subtly worked against him, once even trying to dump him overboard.
In early 835 PD, Fjord briefly met Jester Lavorre in Port Damali while she was searching for her father, who was a sailor, along the Coast and playing tricks on people. He saw her multiple times in the city afterward. Shortly after, he left Port Damali aboard the Tide's Breath for an unknown port west of Darktow.
As the ship returned, Sabian decided to sabotage the ship: Fjord walked in on Sabian lighting a fuse in the cargo hold, but before he could react the half-elf wounded him with throwing daggers, ran to the deck of the ship, and jumped into the ocean. Fjord was knocked into the water by the explosion (for further detail, see: Tide's Breath). Panicked and desperate, the half-orc subconsciously agreed to a pact with Uk'otoa to avoid fatally drowning; upon waking on the shore of Bisaft Isle, he could not remember the pact. discovering his new falchion and powers. He returned to Port Damali to investigate Vandran's warehouse there, finding that Sabian had survived and had come to raid the place shortly before his arrival. Multiple people in Port Damali quickly noticed that the Tide's Breath and its crew did not return, except for Sabian and Fjord.
Because Fjord's survival of the sinking was met with suspicion, he left the city (using the magic he had just acquired) and, remembering that Jester cast spells, pursued her to the next town over. Jester could not help him in understanding his magic, so he decided to travel to the Soltryce Academy in Rexxentrum in the Dwendalian Empire. He asked if she would like to accompany him, and she agreed. During their time traveling to the Empire, Fjord changed his bearing and accent to imitate Vandran. After about a week and a half of travel along the Amber Road, they arrived in Trostenwald and, about a day or two before "Curious Beginnings", met Beauregard Lionett. The three of them saved the daughter of Rinaldo, a fisherman in town, from a giant snake.

Beauregard Main article: Relationship between Beauregard and Fjord Beauregard and Fjord met a day before the events of "Curious Beginnings" (2x01). Beau instinctively trusted Fjord by the time of "A Show of Scrutiny" (2x02), relying on his instructions in order to act more "manly" for a disguise. Fjord eventually started guiding Beau towards less hostile forms of social interaction, to mixed success. The two joined a meeting of The Knights of Requital together and did not reveal what they witnessed to the other members of the Mighty Nein, though Caleb saw the first meeting they attended through Frumpkin.
Beau thinks that she and Fjord have similar moral perspectives.
After the rest of the party was rescued from the Iron Shepherds, Beau and Caleb assured Fjord that what happened was not his fault but rather Lorenzo's. The two have a great respect for one another's abilities and have formed a close friendship, often going to one another for advice. They have also made an agreement to keep each other in check. Beau put herself forward as Fjord's first mate while at sea, a position she seems to take seriously.
During a conversation on whether to seek out the families of those with connections in the Empire, Beau confided in Fjord about her family's abandonment of her and the birth of her baby brother. Fjord had seemed confused at first as to why she was hesitant to reconnect with her family, but on learning this he accepted her decision. Fjord advised Beau to consider her baby brother's innocence.
While the Mighty Nein were in Zadash on the search for the old hag who had cursed Nott, the group stopped in the Evening Nip for the night. Noticing that Beau was more reserved than usual, Fjord comforted her. In turn, Beau confided that she was struggling with the idea of seeing her dad again. Beau also told Fjord, "You're still my captain."
Fjord was very vocal that he was not okay with the deal Beau wanted to make with Isharnai, as the deal would have meant Beau had to leave her friends and her life at the Cobalt Soul behind. One night, as Fjord came under attack by Uk'otoa's minions while the rest of the crew was in their respective cabins, Beau immediately rushed to his aid instead of staying below deck. However, despite her efforts, she found herself incapacitated, unable to offer much assistance as Fjord fell unconscious from the mast to the deck, prompting her to quickly alert the others.
During a discussion among the members of the Mighty Nein on Rumblecusp about their plans following their separation, Beau turned to Fjord for advice. Expressing her admiration and respect for him, she confessed that a part of her envisioned sailing the seas as Fjord's first mate after the group parted ways, while also pursuing her role as an Expositor in the Cobalt Soul. However, she ultimately chose to remain with the Cobalt Soul in the Empire. In the course of their conversation about Jester, Fjord confided in Beau about his attraction to her. In response, Beau admitted to harboring feelings for Jester as well and offered her advice on how to approach her. Subsequently, Fjord inquired about Yasha, and Beau shared her own feelings regarding her.
After Fjord and Jester shared a kiss, he told Beau about their budding relationship during their shared night watch. Beau mentioned her upcoming date with Yasha. Later, while preparing a trap for Lucien, Fjord privately expressed to Beau that he didn't plan to run if the plan didn't work. They both affirmed their determination not to disappoint the group and to stand their ground and fight until the very end.

Caduceus Clay
Fjord and Caduceus are good friends.
Caduceus considers Fjord to be something of an angsty teen. However, he is very proud of Fjord for not being lured by the power that Uk'otoa seems to promise. Caduceus thinks it is very admirable that Fjord did not lose his sense of self during the Mighty Nein's time at sea.
As the situation with Uk'otoa worsened, Fjord found himself opening up more to Caduceus. Following a particularly unsettling dream that woke him in the middle of the night while Caduceus kept watch, Fjord decided to confide in him. Sharing the details of the dream. After breaking his pact with Uk'otoa, Fjord tossed his sword into the searing lava of the forge, and seeking help, he woke Caduceus, expressing that he found inspiration in him.
After the intense battle beneath Rexxentrum, Caduceus surprised Fjord with a custom sea-themed symbol of the Wildmother, crafted in Kravaraad. Caduceus told Fjord that he loved him like family after Fjord joked about an eye appearing on his cheek in Eiselcross, which was met with an initially earnest response from Caduceus. Realizing that he was joking, Caduceus playfully threatened revenge, drawing on his experience with his siblings,
In the moment before parting ways, Caduceus, choosing to stay with his family in the Blooming Grove, received a hug from Fjord, who expressed gratitude, stating, "I wouldn't be here like this without you." In response, Caduceus stated that Fjord had earned everything he had.
The Wildmother
Fjord first interacted with the Wildmother in a dream he had underneath the Arbor Exemplar. He asked Caduceus soon after about how to see her again and feel the warmth devoid from his previous visions. Caduceus taught Fjord how to meditate and listen closely to the nature surrounding him. After some time, Fjord heard the familiar waves and felt a sense of comfort wash over him.
After seeking guidance from Jester and Caduceus, Fjord asked the Wildmother to take an interest in him. She agreed to give him back his magical capabilities, as long as he became her follower. Fjord accepted the offer, and soon after became a warlock/paladin of Melora. After the events of "Refjorged" , his warlock abilities were modified to fit the themes of the Wildmother, such as Eldritch Blast being a verdant green color and Hexblade's Curse manifesting as dark and shadowy vines.
While meditating aboard the Midnight Hammer on the way to Eiselcross and asking for calm seas, Fjord started seeing visions of distant islands, calm shores, and abyssal depths. The Wildmother then asked Fjord if this is what he wanted to seek out, to become like the waves and explore the unknown. After resoundingly saying yes, she bestowed upon him a sacred oath.

Jester Lavorre Jester have been close friends since the start of the campaign and are now romantically involved. They first crossed paths in Port Damali when Fjord observed Jester employing her magic to play pranks on the locals, a few weeks before encountering the rest of the Mighty Nein. They often reach out to the other to ask how they are doing, and have supported each other through their personal journeys. Jester expressed concern about Fjord's tusk filing and offered her support for whatever choice he decided to make. Fjord told Jester that he would stop filing his tusks if she wanted him to. From that point onward, Fjord stopped filing his tusks and allowed them to grow. She was the only person in the group who knew about Fjord's original accent and his imitation of Vandran's accent, and she kept this information a secret from the rest of the Nein. Jester had a crush on Fjord since early on, although at first it seemed very superficial. Fjord acted oblivious to her flirting for quite some time. However, after spending a lot of time traveling together, Fjord began to admit that he may reciprocate her feelings. Jester, on her end, has reflected a lot on her feelings for Fjord, wondering if they were real, and if she still feels the same way. On Rumblecusp, Fjord shared his worries about the Traveler with Jester, revealing a genuine concern for her safety. Fjord admitted to Beau that he wanted Jester to be happy. He felt strongly for her, but understood that her early feelings for him might have been whimsy. He wanted to explore the world, see lands he hadn't seen, and find the things that people were scared of and solve them. He hoped she was a part of that. When Jester clung to the Traveler as he was taken away in chains, Fjord employed Hex and Relentless Hex to grasp onto her, encouraging her to let Artagan go. Despite Artagan eventually forcing them both off, Jester expressed gratitude to Fjord, telling him that she didn't know what she would have done without him. One night while residing within Widogast's Nascent Nein Sided Tower, Fjord visited Jester at her room. After discussing their plans, Fjord asked if he could kiss her, and when she nodded, he did, further remarking that he had wished to do it earlier, he had simply been too afraid. The two became a couple and have kissed several times. When Jester contacted Vandran on Fjord's behalf, despite Fjord's request for her not to do so, she admitted her actions the next morning. Although surprised to learn that Jester had scried on Vandran, Fjord interpreted her choice to reach out as a reminder that he had people in his life willing to assist him, strengthening his feelings for her. After the defeat of Lucien, Jester confessed her love to a half-asleep Fjord, not allowing him to respond. Later, Fjord reciprocated, expressing his love for her while extinguishing the flames following Trent's attack. Following the conclusion of their adventure with the Nein, while alone with her watching stars on top of a water tower, Fjord asked her to accompany him out on the sea, a proposal to which she gladly agreed. Furthermore, he floated the idea of getting a shared home in Nicodranas, and her response was enthusiastic, describing it as a wonderful idea. Sometime after the Mighty Nein went their separate ways, Fjord and Jester bought a small property in Nicodranas below the water tower, giving them a place to stay and some privacy when they were not at sea. Whenever they are in Nicodranas, they climb the water tower to watch the stars together, just like they did on their last visit with the rest of the Mighty Nein. They painted their house and converted a large part of it into a studio for Jester. According to Fjord, it has too much color. However, they don't spend much time there, as most of their time is spent at sea with their new shipping company, Stone's Throw Shipping. Despite Jester's dislike for the name, she is very supportive of Fjord's endeavors. They spend their days at sea saving other ships and stopping pirate attacks. During their voyage, Fjord appointed Jester as his first mate. Jester, trying to make Fjord more confident in front of his crew, warned him that she noticed Kingsley eyeing him and suspected he might attempt a mutiny. When Jester was knocked unconscious by Uk'otoa's minions, Fjord, without hesitation, pulled out the last Cloven Crystal and handed it over to protect her, apologizing as he did so. Later, when Fjord agreed to a pact with Zehir, the Cloaked Serpent, Jester was worried about him. Seeing Zehir's mark on Fjord's chest, she remained troubled despite his reassurances that everything would be alright, fearing he might now be bound to a Betrayer God. After defeating Trent Ikithon's demon form in Blumenthal, the pair became engaged

Caleb Widogast
Fjord was initially intrigued by Caleb's wizardry, as he was interested in learning more magic himself. Fjord is allergic to Caleb's (sometimes) cat familiar, Frumpkin.
When the group first set off on the road together the two spoke about whether or not things would work out. Fjord seemed positive and Caleb responded that they would make it work. This became something of a mantra between the two.Caleb thought of Fjord as his closest friend outside of Nott early on in the campaign and considered him to be a great leader
During "Midnight Espionage" , they got into an argument over Caleb stealing a spell scroll and potentially exposing the operation. Caleb walked away without the scroll when Fjord held his falchion to Caleb's throat and prepared to cast Eldritch Blast at Nott.[
After they helped to rescue Fjord, Jester and Yasha from the Iron Shepherds, Fjord confided to Caleb and Beauregard that he felt responsible for their capture. They both assured him it was not his fault, and Caleb advised him that he should not blame himself for being taken advantage of.
Caleb being part of their rescue party seemed to alleviate some of Fjord's concerns regarding Caleb's dedication to the group. As time went on he came to trust and rely on him, even taking him to one side in "A Pirate's Life for Me" and asking him to "exercise quick judgement" and protect the group against Avantika should things go badly. Caleb would later go on to do exactly this, casting Wall of Fire between Avantika and the Nein to give them a chance to get her diary to the Plank King and expose her.
In Dashilla's lair during "The Diver's Grave", Fjord pushed to explore what would happen should they drop some blood onto a runic altar, appealing to Caleb's sense of curiosity. After assuring Caleb a favor in return, Caleb cut his palm. The blood was not enough to complete the ritual and Fjord cut his own palm. When this was still not enough they decided not to complete the ritual, and clasped hands to solidify their agreement to continue to help each other in the future.
In "In Love and War", Caleb told Fjord that he appreciated him, and referenced their prior discussion on taking risks. He seemed to want to say more but a misunderstanding on Fjord's part ended the discussion early.
Caleb was the first in the party to confront Fjord about his multiple accents, citing concern that there might be something dangerous in his past. Fjord did not want to explain himself, though he did assure Caleb that the group was in no danger, and replied that his current accent was related to being a version of himself that he liked. When Caleb offered to share secrets of his own in return for learning more, Fjord told Caleb if he had his way he would not tell any of the Mighty Nein anything about his past. He asked for Caleb to give him more time until he decided to share his past on his own terms and Caleb agreed.
After throwing his pact blade into the lava in the Kiln and losing his powers, Fjord told the group that he was now powerless, seemingly nervous that they might no longer accept him as he might prove a liability. Caleb reminded him of his many other talents and was the first to offer him an item to help him in his magic-less state, putting the Glove of Blasting on his hand and prompting Jester to hand over the Whip.
In "Dark Waters", Caleb finally shared his past with Fjord, explaining that Trent Ikithon made him kill his parents, Una and Leofric. Fjord apologized for almost killing Caleb in the High Richter's house, stating it was his way of controlling the situation. He promised to help Caleb in rooting out the corrupt individuals of the Cerberus Assembly.
After the eyes of the Somnovem appeared on him, Caleb decided it was time to cash in the favor they'd agreed upon at the Diver's Grave. He turned to Fjord, saying that if he were to lose control, Fjord would take him down and protect the others. Fjord affirmed his commitment to keep his promise and expressed confidence that such a dire situation wouldn't arise.

Nott/Veth
Nott hoped to steal Fjord's letter of recommendation to the Soltryce Academy for Caleb to use instead. Fjord set a trap after Nott's initial theft attempt, learning of this and Nott's motivated attachment to Caleb when Molly charmed Nott. Afterwards, Nott treated Fjord with hostility.
When Nott was reluctant to accompany the group into the ocean, Fjord teased her with stories about Captain Buttonbeard. Although meant as a friendly jest, he did not realize this was a sensitive topic for Nott, who appeared to be annoyed by it. After learning about Nott's life as Veth and her death by drowning, he apologized for his insensitivity (being particularly understanding, having drowned himself). During their travels to Xhorhas their relationship has developed into one of more reciprocal teasing and banter.
Luc Brenatto
Unlike the dynamic between Fjord and Veth, who often enjoy teasing each other, Luc holds admiration for Fjord. Like the other members of the Mighty Nein, Fjord is an honorary uncle to Luc. During a moment when Luc made his plea to remain with the group for their mission to stop Trent, Fjord expressed support, telling Luc he was rooting for him. Luc saw Fjord as not just cool, but also as a remarkable man capable of achieving great things. In his plea, Luc drew parallels between Fjord and his captain, who inspired him, emphasizing the need for similar guidance in his own journey.
Yasha Nydoorin Fjord and Yasha have been reliable allies, though not close friends. In Rosohna, Fjord loaned Yasha 500 gold to commission a set of enchanted bracers, which she promised to pay back.
After Yasha fell under Obann's domination, Fjord tried and failed to get her out of the King's Cage. She brought him to zero hit points but he used his half-orc Relentless Endurance to bring himself back to consciousness and said, "Why?" Yasha looked at him intently and said, almost disembodied, "I heard you." Fjord was certain after seeing Yasha turn that she had betrayed the Nein, and had been tricking them all along. When fighting Yasha in the Chantry of the Dawn, he cast Enervation on her, draining her health to heal himself. He continued to pull from it even after she was freed from Obann's control, saying he would "cash in on that guilt and regret" as she knelt on the ground before him.
Later, Yasha paid Fjord back the 500 gold she owed him. He said it was not necessary, but she insisted. He took the money saying it made him uncomfortable, so as a thank you, he gave Yasha the Manual of Gainful Exercise that Caleb had given him.
Sabian Fjord and Sabian were both hired by Vandran as crew of the Tide's Breath. Fjord said he had known Sabian for many years, and they grew up together in the orphanage, where Fjord suffered a lot due to Sabian's bullying; he stated Sabian has "always been a piece of shit of one variety or another". In recent years before the Tide's Breath explosion, Fjord believed "that stuff had faded between us", since Sabian mainly ignored him in public, although the half-elf never stopped disliking him.

Mollymauk Tealeaf
Molly and Fjord had a friendly relationship, often being roommates at inns. Fjord wanted to learn about Molly's ritual with his swords and asked to join in. He hoped that Molly might have knowledge about magical swords that could be helpful to him as he searched for the meaning of his falchion. Before Molly's amnesia was revealed, Fjord realized Molly was lying about where his swords and his powers came from. For unknown reasons, he decided not to confront Molly or tell anyone else.
The two frequently collaborated in Zadash, particularly in causing a distraction at The Guided Hand Infirmary, and in trapping Nott when she attempted to go through Fjord's things in their shared room at the inn.
Before leaving the town of Berleben, Fjord confided in Molly about his concerns about the new eye in the center of his falchion. Molly attempted to charm him in response to get more information, but it failed.
After being rescued from the Iron Shepherds and learning that Molly had died, Fjord was saddened. He felt like the death was partially his fault for not being able to fight back when the Iron Shepherds kidnapped him. He made Molly's sword, Summer's Dance, his pact weapon to honor Molly's memory.
Kingsley Tealeaf When the Mighty Nein returned to Nicodranas, Kingsley discovered that Fjord was the captain of a ship. Eager to pursue his dream of becoming a pirate and to learn from Fjord, Kingsley sought permission to join his crew. Fjord accepted, expressing his delight at having Kingsley aboard. Over six months aboard the Nein Heroez, Fjord acknowledged Kingsley's tremendous help on the ship, even though he was still learning the ropes. Kingsley enjoyed occasionally undermining Fjord's authority, seeking to demonstrate his own leadership among the crew.
Kingsley revealed to Jester that Fjord had shared some basics about his past encounters with Uk'otoa. Fjord disapproved when Kingsley eagerly considered accepting Zehir's pact. Following Fjord's decision to accept the pact himself, telling the others that it was his responsibility, he approached Kingsley to understand his eagerness, emphasizing that his choices between light and darkness matter, since he got a fresh start in his life. Despite this, Fjord entrusted Kingsley with the Fang of the Spire King, a sword received from Zehir, to which Kingsley responded, "Every now and then I like you."
That night, in a conversation with Beau about Molly and Lucien, Kingsley said that Fjord doesn't mention Molly that much and only occasionally talks about the conflict with Lucien in front of him. Beau observed traits of both Fjord and Jester in Kingsley and mentioned that she sees how they influenced him. Kingsley acknowledged that he respects them, even if he doesn't show it, since Fjord and Jester had taught him everything he knows.
After their victory over Uk'otoa, Kingsley continued to serve under Fjord aboard the Nein Heroez for many years, learning everything he could from him. However, following Fjord's decision to entrust him with his own ship, Kingsley departed for Darktow Isle a month later. In his farewell note to Fjord, Kingsley expressed gratitude for everything he had done for him and for everything he had taught him.

Uk'otoa Fjord's Hexblade patron is a mysterious entity. After Fjord defeated a nergaliid and left Trostenwald, the patron came to him in a dream. While falling asleep, the air seemed to transform into a cold, dark ocean. Struggling against the currents, Fjord gasped the cold water into his lungs, and eventually he was able to breathe it. A giant yellow eye appeared, and an entity communicated eight words directly into Fjord's mind: watching, potential, learn, grow, provoke, consume, reward, patience. Upon waking, Fjord coughed out the salty water from his dream. He then gained the ability to summon and dismiss his falchion as a pact weapon.
When Fjord made another weapon into his pact weapon, his falchion eventually absorbed the other weapon's properties. This is apparently what Fjord's patron meant by "consume."
After meeting Captain Avantika, Fjord discovered she was another follower of his patron and learned its identity: a mighty leviathan known as "Uk'otoa".
Fjord claims he does not want to release Uk'otoa nor does he want the kind of power Uk'otoa seems to offer his "chosen". He believes control over the seas is too much power for one person to have. He told the Mighty Nein he did not know who he would be if he had power like that. Fjord seems to be afraid of Uk'otoa and hopeful that the Wildmother may be able to keep the leviathan at bay.
Fjord's relationship with Uk'otoa took a turn for the worse when the group journeyed to Xhorhas without releasing the leviathan. After introducing the word "punish" to the dreams, Uk'otoa appeared to somehow limit Fjord's warlock powers following another punishment dream. This limitation seemed to pass by the morning.
In "Clay and Dust" , Uk'otoa (again displeased with Fjord's procrastination) further tormented and punished the half-orc, taking his powers a second time. However, Fjord resisted and attempted to take command of his pact by placing his Sword of Fathoms slowly deeper and deeper into his own chest, claiming that Uk'otoa needs Fjord more than Fjord needs him. However, all of his attempts were fruitless, and he cast his blade into the lava forge of the Kiln, severing his connection to Uk'otoa.
In "Dark Waters" , Fjord had a dream in which he tried to summon the Star Razor, but ended up summoning the Sword of Fathoms instead. Fjord and the rest of the Nein then found themselves facing off against multiple agents of Uk'otoa. Later, it was revealed that the agents were sent to retrieve the Cloven Crystal and Fjord in order to break the final seal. In "The Chase Begins" , the Mighty Nein once again encountered a deep scion, chuuls, and the undead form of Avantika. However, their attempt to retrieve the Cloven Crystal was again unsuccessful and Avantika was killed.
When Lucien asked about Fjord's goal to break free from the sea serpent, he answered by expressing his enjoyment in Uk'otoa's pursuit. He added that his relentless pursuit provides him with a good picture of the leviathan's position. Fjord desires to confront and defeat Uk'otoa on his terms, with the ultimate goal of bringing this chapter of his journey to a close. He is confident that with a few more steps, he will be able to do so.
Once Uk'otoa had been released, Fjord agreed to a pact with Zehir, the Cloaked Serpent, in order to imprison the False Serpent. Fjord was able to track down Uk'otoa by bearing the mark of vengeance from Zehir and utilizing the lingering connection to his former pact master. During the encounter, Uk'otoa was perplexed about why he couldn't strip Fjord of his powers. Uk'otoa exploited their link to take control of Fjord and attack Jester. After they defeated Uk'otoa, Fjord pursued him into the deepest parts of the ocean with the help of Caleb in the shape of a dragon turtle. He was successful in resealing Uk'otoa while also beginning a new cycle by creating three new Cloven Crystals.

Avantika The relationship between Fjord and Avantika was complicated. Their patron Uk'otoa brought them together, but Avantika tried to maintain constant control over Fjord and the Mighty Nein. She conscripted them into the crew of the Squalleater, eventually forcing Fjord to become her quartermaster.
During the weeks that they knew each other, neither of them wholly trusted the other. However, their mutual desire to hide their true intentions led them to pursue a physical relationship. During this time, Fjord told Avantika he shared her goal of releasing Uk'otoa; but told the Mighty Nein he was just using her for information.
Avantika openly yearned for the power Uk'otoa might grant her when released, while Fjord denied any desire to release Uk'otoa outside of her presence. When Fjord shared new dreams from Uk'otoa, Avantika became jealous due to her belief that Uk'otoa favored Fjord over herself. This fueled the race to claim Uk'otoa's boon in "Dubious Pursuits" , which she won.[288]
Fjord did not trust Avantika or her long-term plans, even conceding that she probably wanted to kill him. The degree of her fervor for Uk'otoa led the Nein to plot her downfall, culminating in the theft of her journal in "A Hole In the Plan" . Fjord slept with Avantika to ensure she did not interfere in the plan (though neither Jester nor Nott went through with disguising themselves as her). The following day Fjord was called with the rest of the Mighty Nein to Avantika's ship, where a battle ensued.
After the Plank King arrived with knowledge of her journal and plans, Avantika claimed Fjord had blown up the Tide's Breath, though Fjord had never informed her of Sabian's sabotage. She also claimed that Fjord seduced and manipulated her by using the memory of Vandran against her. Fjord did not seem bothered by her death at the hands of the Plank King.
After her execution, Fjord used her journal to pinpoint the location of the next temple of Uk'otoa, apparently in the jungles of the Menagerie Coast north of Nicodranas.
Avantika reappeared as an undead creature of some kind in "The Chase Begins" on the deck of the Midnight Hammer after the ship was attacked by minions of Uk'otoa. Saying "Darling, we have business elsewhere," she attempted to grab Fjord. Fjord fought back but Avantika was able to retrieve the Cloven Crystal and Dimension Door away. She was pursued by the Mighty Nein. In the ensuing fight, Fjord landed the final blow, bisecting Avantika and recovering the Crystal. Her remains were then devoured by a group of orcas.
Vandran Vandran was captain of the Tide's Breath at the time it was sabotaged and sank. Fjord has described him as a mentor and father figure[290], and seemed surprised to learn of his previous connections to Avantika, The Revelry, and Uk'otoa. Seeing that someone had looted Vandran's quarters after the Tide's Breath wrecked seemed to make Fjord angry. Fjord claimed to the Mighty Nein that one of the reasons he appeared to ally with Avantika was to find out what had happened to Vandran.
When the party reached Kravaraad on the quest to reforge Dwueth'var, Fjord cast Minor Illusion to conjure an image of Vandran's face to help Jester contact him via Sending. From this, Fjord learned that Vandran was "retired on an island with good folks", but this only seemed to confirm his own fears that Vandran was not looking for him. Later, Fjord dropped the accent he had used since the rest of the party met him, and adopted thereafter his own, native accent. He explained that Vandran had been a man of great renown and respect, and Fjord had wanted to emulate him, "to be him."
After defeating Lucien and Trent, Fjord, Jester, and Kingsley sailed off to Bisaft Isle to seek out Vandran using the information gathered from Jester's Scry. He eventually found the small driftwood house that Vandran was living out off and convinced him to come aboard the Nein Heroez, so that they could reconnect with each other once more.

Named Genevieve Lavorre at birth, Jester comes from Nicodranas, and her mother still lives there. Jester claims to have been an artist for quite some time, a talent for which she credits her mother. Jester was wealthy, stating she had owned a horse (that she dressed up) and a carriage. Her mother is a famous singer and courtesan known as the Ruby of the Sea, so Jester had to stay in hiding because having a child would hurt her profile as a courtesan. Nevertheless, Jester said her mother still loved her and took care of her even though she was very busy. In "The Threads Converge" it was revealed that the Gentleman was her biological father. For her entire childhood, Jester was forbidden to leave the Lavish Chateau by her mother, who wished to protect her from the outside world. As a very young child, Jester was spotted by one of her mother's regular clients, Lord Robert Sharpe. She began to draw and paint after her mother encouraged her to bring the outside world to her, and Jester often sat at her balcony, painting what she could see of Nicodranas.
When she was around thirteen, a young boy called out to her from the street and asked if she would let him in to watch Marion's performance. Desperate for a friend, Jester happily helped him. However, inside, Sharpe recognized the boy, his son Barnabas. Sharpe accused Jester of forcing Barnabas to come inside, and Barnabas pretended she did. Angry, Jester stormed off to her room, where she found a boy about her age who introduced himself as The Traveler. After a short moment of hesitation, Jester agreed to be his friend.
When Jester was in her late teens, the Traveler encouraged her to explore the world outside and play tricks on people. Though Marion was happy her daughter was outside in the world, she feared that Jester's antics with the Traveler would bring her harmful trouble. Jester, however, felt that Marion did not trust her and ran off into the streets. There, she was pushed over by a man, and she and the Traveler decided to trail and prank him. He turned out to be a member of the Revelry, and Jester had to fight off a group of them. However, she was helped out by the Traveler, who granted her magical gifts. After stealing a ruby from one of the Revelry's shipments, Jester was nearly caught but saved at the last minute by Bluud.
Shortly after, Jester was in her mother's room when Sharpe appeared and demanded to see Marion. Recognizing his crest from the Revelry shipments, Jester disguised herself as her mother and convinced Lord Sharpe to meet her on the balcony in his underwear. She locked him outside, but Marion, who arrived at this moment, realized that Jester made a terrible enemy. Marion revealed that she had been helping the guilds uncover Sharpe's involvement with the Revelry for years and urged Jester to leave immediately for her safety. After quickly packing and saying goodbye to her mother, Jester took off with the Traveler.

Beauregard Lionett Jester and Beauregard are close friends. When the Mighty Nein have booked rooms in inns and taverns throughout their journey, Beau and Jester made a habit of rooming together, and even share a room in the Xhorhaus.
Caduceus Clay The first time Caduceus and Jester met, Jester was slightly put off by a second cleric in the Mighty Nein, and even more so that one of her teammates, Beau, specifically sought him out over her. Consistently having felt the conflict of having to heal a comrade versus wanting to finish off whichever foe they were fighting against, Jester was introduced to someone who was quite the opposite: a firbolg cleric who almost always chose to heal and provide buffs and support over attacking. But the internal conflict didn't last long, as Caduceus presented as a perpetually sincere, earnest-to-a-fault character.
Eventually, Caduceus and Jester have found their rhythm as co-clerics of the group, more often than not syncing strategies in and out of battles. They also have a mutual appreciation for each other's deities, allowing space for both of their patrons in their house in Xhorhas.
Caleb Widogast Jester and Caleb are very good friends. Their relationship has evolved significantly since the beginning of the campaign. It had a rocky start, as Jester came from a sheltered, lavish upbringing and Caleb has a very troubled past and came from a poor household, which means their world views are very different. Initially, their interactions mostly involved teasing from Jester. However, it has since evolved into a deep mutual respect. Caleb developed a crush on Jester, which has heavily influenced his goals and view of the world, and Jester has in turn come to rely on him to provide emotional understanding and support.
She has several times confided in him her doubts and fears that she hides from the rest of the party.

Essek Thelyss Jester and Essek are friends. Soon after meeting Essek for the first time, Jester told him he seemed like "a really cool guy" and that she hoped they could be friends. When Essek presented the party with the Xhorhaus, Jester thanked him with an awkwardly long hug.
Jester regularly casts Sending to Essek during the party’s travels, asking for information and assistance. Essek accepted the Uthodurnian cupcake Jester gave him on one visit to Rosohna. He was, however, uninterested in her offer to teach him her own magic.
Jester was "really happy" to have Essek visit for dinner. He was interested in her goals and called her desire to find where she fit in "very noble". Essek was touched and grateful when Jester created a parasol with her magic paint to shield him from the sun after he teleported the party to the Whitedawn Lagoon.
While disguised as Dezran Thain, Essek flustered when Jester spoke to him and made awkward attempts to lie to her. She later held his hand while he confessed to his crimes.
After learning of Essek's presence in Eiselcross, Jester continued to Send him updates on the Mighty Nein's progress, sometimes adding friendly compliments to her messages. She ran to hug Essek immediately on reuniting with him at Vurmas Outpost. Essek was startled, but told her it was very good to see her again. Jester suggested that the party take Essek with them after defeating the Tombtakers and alter his appearance with Transmogrification to protect him from assassins. She was open about still trusting Essek. When Essek joined the party to travel through Aeor, Jester tried to make him feel welcome and included.
When Essek parted ways with his friends after the defeats of Lucien and Trent, Jester promised to cast Sending to him every day. Essek said he would welcome her messages.
Fjord Main article: Relationship between Jester and Fjord Jester and Fjord began the campaign as very close friends and are now romantically involved. They met in Port Damali a few weeks before encountering the rest of the Mighty Nein. They often reach out to the other to ask how they're each doing, and have supported each other through their personal journeys.
Jester had a crush on Fjord early on, although it seemed very superficial.
One night while residing within Widogast's Nascent Nein-Sided Tower, Fjord visited Jester at her room. After discussing their plans, Fjord asked if he could kiss her, and when she nodded, he did. She was seemingly enthused by this interaction, going to sleep holding the unicorn figurine he had gifted her prior. Some time afterward, the two became a couple and have since kissed several times.
When they took up the seafaring life together, Jester was particularly appreciative of Fjord's naval success, affectionately calling him "admiral", which he seemed to like. After defeating Trent Ikithon together for the second time, they became engaged.

The Gentleman The Gentleman, originally named Babenon Dosal, was revealed to be Jester's father, although he initially denied this fact. He knew nothing of Jester's existence until they met. He told Jester that only a man who was there to help raise his child could truly call himself a father. While he still cared for Marion and Jester, he believed that due to his criminal activities, he couldn't be close to them. Despite this, Jester stills wanted her parents to get married and retire together.
When the Nein drew the ire of Trent Ikithon, Jester's mother was endangered. Jester brought her to the Evening Nip for her own safety, and also in the hopes of rekindling her parents' relationship. The Gentleman was extremely nervous about seeing his former love again, and Jester apologized for springing it on him so suddenly, though she emphasized the importance of keeping Marion safe. She told the Gentleman she was proud to call him her dad, and reassured him that Marion was just as nervous as he was. She helped him choose an outfit before he went to see her. After he left her alone, Jester searched his room and was disappointed to find Suude, but let it go for the moment.
When Jester returned to check on her parents after the defeat of Cognouza, she found Marion, naked, in her father's bed. Marion explained to Jester that she and Babenon had a lot to discuss and many differences, and she cautioned Jester not to get her hopes up. Jester asked the Gentleman for relationship advice, and he answered genuinely and reassured her.
After the campaign ended, Babenon waited a few years and faked his own demise, handed over his Zadash operation to Ophelia Mardoon, and went to join Marion in Nicodranas under an assumed identity. Jester was presumably delighted that her parents fell in love again and retired together like she always wanted.
Marion Lavorre Jester is very loving and protective towards her mother. She is equally confident that Marion loves her back. It is very important to Jester that Marion think well of her and be proud of her. She holds no resentment towards Marion for keeping her isolated during her childhood. Marion used her wealth to make sure Jester had plenty of books and paints to keep her occupied. Marion also gave Jester five thousand gold to help her escape from Nicodranas. Jester told Fjord she would like to someday earn enough money for Marion to stop working and get back together with her father, The Gentleman.
Marion did not seem sure if the Traveler was real or not. Jester talked about him, but Marion thought he might have been an imaginary friend. After the party visited her in Nicodranas, Marion gifted Jester a necklace with a ruby, and Jester gave her a jar of honey that she and Caduceus Clay had bought. She promised to keep her mother updated with their travels, and Marion made the Mighty Nein promise they would keep Jester safe.
Marion has welcomed the Nein (and, at their request, sheltered Luc and Yeza Brenatto as well) each time they appear, frequently without notice, offering love to Jester and rooms to the party.
Mollymauk Tealeaf Molly read Jester's fortune for two copper pieces, using a small set of cards. He predicted that there is something bright and adventurous in her future. At the Traveling Carnival of Curiosities, he gave her the moon and shadow cards together, seemingly with some sort of meaning intended. Jester seemed enamored by Molly's fortunes, instead of seeing him as a conman. Much later, after his death, Jester even called him "basically a god."
After learning that Molly had died, Jester mourned him deeply, getting on her knees next to his grave. When Beau offered her Molly's cards, she again drew The Moon. Saying that that was his card, she placed it leaning against the marker with Molly's coat.
Later, Jester tried to learn to do tarot card readings herself and brought along Molly's deck to do research at the Cobalt Soul Archive. It was revealed that the deck that Molly had was handmade, and that some cards were unfinished. Jester decided to finish the deck with some of her sketches as well.
After visiting Molly's grave in "New Homes and Old Friends", Jester cast Scrying and saw that his body was active - though now belonging to Lucien, walking in a snowstorm with an intense smile.

Veth Brenatto Jester and Veth are very close friends. They share a similar knack for getting into trouble and get along very well, often helping each other out or teaming up to go on crazy misadventures. Veth's small size and aptitude for trickery proved to be a great complement to Jester's love of pranks and whimsical behavior. The two have also shared more serious emotional moments, sharing advice and looking out for each other. They form a self-proclaimed detective duo.
The Traveler Jester has referred to the Traveler as her "best friend" and "Number One Love". She told the Mighty Nein he was her friend while she grew up in the Lavish Chateau. The Traveler has appeared to Jester as a hooded male humanoid while she is alone. Jester becomes extremely nervous when she doesn't feel the presence of the Traveler for a long time and sometimes goes to extremes to get his attention. Jester believes she is the Traveler's favorite and was very excited at the possibility of meeting other followers of his. The Traveler told her she was his first follower, and will always be his favorite.
Artagan's "Traveler" persona began after sensing a kinship and discovering a spark uniquely similar to his own within a little blue girl named Jester Lavorre. Young Jester believed with such unconditional childlike faith and wonder in Artagan's "divinity" as The Traveler that Artagan pretended to be the god she believed him to be, only to discover he actually started to become newly empowered from the unconditional faith she bestowed in him.
As Traveler Con approached, Artagan approached Jester for advice, confiding in her that he had no idea what he was doing, and needed her help. When the Mighty Nein discovered that being on Rumblecusp caused its resident's to lose their memories, Jester became concerned that the Traveler had known about this, and intended to take advantage of this fact to get rid of his followers. When she confronted him about this, he told her that yes, he knew what happened to those who stayed on the island. This upset Jester greatly. Artagan reassured her that he was never going to leave her and her friends on the island. To cheer Jester up, he manipulated the shadows around Catha to create an image of the mark of Tusktooth. Jester became more stressed as her faith in the Traveler was shaken. She reiterated to the party how great of a friend he had been to her as a child, and how much he had done for her, but she now saw his essential selfishness. Most of all, she wanted the Traveler to still be her friend.
On Traveler Con Eve, Artagan spoke with Jester, telling her that she was still his favorite. He told her how much she had changed him for the better, and how much she'd grown. The conversation seemed to quiet all Jester's recent fears and uncertainties about him, and she told him he was her best friend and always would be, just before leaning in like she was going to kiss him and biting his nose instead. He cautioned her that he didn't expect things to last forever, and they should appreciate the time they had together.
During the Traveler Con proceedings, Artagan was interrupted by an avatar of Sehanine. He was restrained by silver chains, and the entity said he was being punished and brought back to the Feywild where he belonged. As the Traveler, panicking, was being dragged away, Jester grabbed onto him and begged for him to be released, saying that she loved him. To prevent her from being captured along with him, Artagan kicked her (and Fjord) free. Seeing that Artagan had grown to truly care for another creature, the celestial entity asked him if he'd learned his lesson, and released him. Later that evening, Artagan and Jester talked privately, and he apologized to her for endangering her and her friends.
They became somewhat closer after that, and during their adventures in Aeor it was revealed that Sprinkle was the way Artagan checked on his cleric constantly, making sure she was ok. Although the quasi-divine archfey was aloof sometimes, not wanting to stay with mortals, he always granted Jester magic, and when she became powerful enough to cast successful Divine Interventions weekly, she used that ability constantly to ask him small favors (like making coffee), even if it was only to spend time with him. He always granted them, for she was still his favorite cleric. When Artagan was going through a trial in the Feywild, he managed to be sent to Jester to ask her for help and she agreed, although convincing him to be responsible and face the consequences of his actions too.

Yasha Nydoorin Main article: Relationship between Jester and Yasha Yasha and Jester had a growing camaraderie. When the two first met, Yasha took Jester's weapons with the promise she would return them. Jester responded by making Yasha "pinky swear," declaring that this made them "best friends." Yasha later commented to Mollymauk that "Jester's adorable" and that she liked her.
While rowing in "A Favor in Kind", Caleb refered to Yasha and Jester as the "Strength Sisters".
Jester was keen on getting Yasha out of her shell, going to great lengths to get to know her. During the night before Yasha disappeared from the Mighty Nein for the third time, Jester sat beside her, showed her drawings, and drew Yasha "lit up by the lightning" before going to sleep.
When Yasha woke up from her captivity, she broke down and Jester was the first person to offer her comfort. Jester, Caduceus Clay, and probably Mollymauk Tealeaf were the first people that Yasha told about her presumably deceased wife Zuala. They kept the secret for her until Yasha was ready to tell the rest of the Mighty Nein later on their travels.
Jester was shocked and heartbroken when Yasha turned on the rest of the Nein in "The King's Cage" . Jester was in complete denial, refusing to even consider the idea that Yasha's real personality and memories had surfaced, insisting that the anger and cruelty Yasha had demonstrated was nothing more than the mind control of Obann's charm effect.
Through Scrying, Jester witnessed some of the horrible acts Yasha committed under Obann's control. Watching those acts weighed on her, but she also saw Yasha trying to fight against Obann's control and Obann inflicting pain on Yasha when she showed defiance. Jester, worried for Yasha, prayed to the Traveler to watch over her. She struggled with the perception that the Mighty Nein had abandoned Yasha.
After Yasha broke free from Obann's control, Jester welcomed her unreservedly back into the group.
Covak After the Mighty Nein's escapades beneath the well, Beau and Jester met Covak after recognizing the Traveler's symbol outside his ramshackle hut and inquired within. The pair shared their experience with the Traveler, although his sense of humour was somewhat earthier than Jester's. For instance, he thought defecating in four of the public wells in the city was a funny joke.
The budding friendship soured somewhat when Jester appeared to have a closer relationship with their god. Regardless, Jester created a small figurine of the Traveler for him to pray to before leaving, and Covak seemed excited about the upcoming gathering of Traveler believers. He did, however, light Jester's cloak on fire as she left. In return, she drew a giant dick and a flaming poo on the back wall of his house.
Covak came to the island of Rumblecusp for Traveler Con, where he was recognized by Jester. Jester said it was good to see him and told him who to see to get a place to stay in the village.
Braius Doomseed Braius worked in the Platinum House of Zadash when Jester attacked it and defaced it with Nott's help, which led to the minotaur being expelled from his religious community, since he hadn't been able to stop the prank. Since then, he was determined to have his revenge by killing the tiefling and the goblin that had ruined his life. When he met Jester in person years later he recognized her, but she, realizing what he felt, managed to befriend him with her cheery attitude and by offering to contact his ex, Suzy Greene, and put a good word for him; they also bonded through their common interest in art. By the time they had to say goodbye, Braius even apologized for wanting to kill her in the past.
