The Kingdom of Theyrin is one of the most powerful nations in the Westlands, both in political and military might. Founded long ago during the Dark Ages, the kingdom has prospered immensely under the rule of the honourable 'Knight-Kings' of the house of Theyrin. The most recent of these kings, King Therot VI, has proven just as capable, although many disparage his hedonistic tendencies.
A result of his hedonism and unshackled lust is 9 separate children, all to 9 separate mothers and mistresses. Despite this, the worries of succession have long been quashed by the King, who refused all marriage proposals and declared the line of succession would follow his bastard children.
The youngest of these children is Princess Gisla, is the daughter of a lowborn mercenary, and seemingly destined for nothing special. Unfortunately however, since her early childhood, Gisla has been plagued with what she describes as visions of the future. Knowing the inevitability of her visions, the princess spends most of her days locked in her room, stuck in a state of complete and total melancholy.

It is the second year of the Age of Dawn, and, coming off of the throes and strife of the Dark Ages, the world is once again advancing in a direction that seems to be prosperity and stability. On the Human Continent, historical records have begun being made again, and the dangers of the untamed wilds seem less like a warning and more like an opportunity.
The various kingdoms in the Westlands turn their gazes east into the Wild Forests, seeking to trade and negotiate with the Wildmen of the region in a hope to civilise the untamed centre of the Human Continent. At the same time study and education have been growing tremendously both in the Westlands and throughout the Human Continent.
The Wildmen have long dominated the Human Continent since the Dark Ages first began, all the now existing kingdoms being descended from these Wildmen as well. Most of the thousands of tribes still keep to themselves, but the Dark Ages are now over, and progress is on the way for the tribes, who will soon have to found kingdoms of their own to survive the advance of time and technology.
While it seems like a great era of progress and innovation however, not all is sunshine and rainbows. In the east of the Human Continent the Wildmen of the Eastern Wastes continue to throw themselves at the Guardian Mountains, seeking to escape the wastes to pillage and conquer the fertile lands of the Human Continent. Not all is as it seems though, and the Wildmen of the Wastes seem more desperate to escape the Eastern Wastes with each year.
The Dark Ages was a period of history directly preceding the Age of Dawn. As its name suggests, the Dark Ages was a period in which very little records exist, and in which records of the ages before were lost or destroyed. Due to this nature, very little is known about the Dark Ages, with most information coming via word of mouth and oral traditions passed down through the generations. It is generally accepted that for the majority of the Dark Ages most of the world experienced a cultural and technological reset, with minor exception to the Icarae.
The exact extent of how long this Dark Age period lasted is unknown, and concrete information about the age before is also unknown. What is known is that generally kingdoms and countries only started to form again in the final millennia of the Dark Ages.

King Therot VI is a tall man with black hair and golden eyes. He is known as a jovial and lustful man, but is also an extremely competent diplomat and strategist. He is currently 43.
Theyrin lacks large cities, however it has significantly more castles dotting its land than any other country in the Westlands.
The primary religion of Theyrin is the Church of Maral. The Church is one of the biggest supporters of the King, and all his bastard children.
Theyrin's capital is called Traven and is located on the Karlak River in the centre of the country. The capital is a decently large city situated near a river, although it is also heavily fortified, with a large citadel in the centre of it.
Gisla has 8 siblings, all belonging to different mothers: Therick, Tralona, Grant, Ryctavian, Karol, Lilac, Valcix, and Ferrain.
The languages of the Human Continent can generally be categorised into two groups; the dozen or so common languages used by the civilised kingdoms, and the thousands of diverse languages used by the Wildmen population of the continent.
With the common languages they can be organised into four distinct categories: Westlander, the result of intermingling between the realms of the Westlands and the Sea Kingdom of Laven. Valcorian, the native tongue of the Valcorian peninsula. Corvalan the native tongue of the Corvalan peninsula. Eastern, the tongue of Gurader and its civilised Wildmen allies.
For the Wildmen languages, each tribe has their own unique language, however tribes in a certain proximity will tend to have similar sounding languages.
Generally the people of the Human Continent only really know the language of the people they are a part of, e.g. a Westlander will only know the Westlander language and a Wildman will only know the language of their tribe.
Kingdom of Theyrin; The Kingdom of Theyrin is a country located in the Westlands of the Human Continent. It is situated on the southern portion of the Westlands, taking up most of the region's southern coast. Theyrin is mainly characterised by the nobility's obsession with honour and justice, with young nobles often venturing out as hedge knights to travel the land and learn about honour and justice. Theyrin has two neighbours, the Kingdom of Gradholm to its north, and the City-State of Krinios, which is on a small peninsula in the south of the Kingdom.
Theyrin is primarily mono-cultural, with those from the country being known as Theyrinians. Theyrinians are a people obsessed with honour and justice, however they are also extremely adverse to change.
The primary religion of Theyrin is the Church of Maral.
Theyrin's capital is called Traven and is located on the Karlak River in the centre of the country. The capital is a decently large city situated near a river, although it is also heavily fortified, with a large citadel in the centre of it.
The Theyrin military is mainly composed of heavily armoured foot-knights supported by skilled spellblades.
The colours favoured by Theyrin for their clothes, flags, and uniforms, is blue and gold.
The current ruler of Theyrin is King Therot VI of the House of Theyrin.
Records of the country are sparse due to the Dark Ages only ending recently, however it is generally accepted that the House Theyrin has ruled the Kingdom of Theyrin since its founding.
Theyrin lacks large cities, however it has significantly more castles dotting its land than any other country in the Westlands.
With its armies fully raised, Theyrin can field roughly 25,000 troops.
The country has existed since the Dark Ages, and as such no information remains of its founding due to the lack of records from the time period.

Princess Gisla gazed out from her balcony at the sprawling city of Traven beneath, her eyes looking for nothing in particular. Up her in her personal tower she had very little to worry about, and also very little people to see. It made things far easier on both her and those she loved.
Her gaze flicked to the door as it opened, revealing one of her father's knights, who bowed nervously, "Your highness, your new attendant has arrived." He said, waiting patiently for her response.
Gisla looked at the knight before turning her gaze back out to the rest of Traven. Her previous attendant, a young woman called Heila, had fled not only the palace but all of Theyrin following their last conversation. Gisla wondered how long this new one would last.
After a moment longer of silence Gisla gave an assenting nod, allowing the knight to leave and fetch her new attendant. A minute later the door opened, prompting Gisla to drag her gaze away from the view to the latest in a series of attendants.
