The night is swallowed by an eerie darkness beneath a blood-red moon, its crimson light spilling across the desolate landscape like a veil of fresh blood. Thick clouds drift slowly across the starless sky, occasionally obscuring the moon and plunging the world into near-total darkness. A bitter, freezing wind sweeps through the crooked trees of an ancient forest, causing their skeletal branches to scrape against one another with unsettling whispers. Patches of dead leaves and brittle twigs litter the ground, crunching beneath the occasional footsteps of unseen creatures. A dense blanket of mist crawls between the trees, winding around the roots and drifting across a narrow, abandoned road that disappears into the wilderness. Somewhere in the distance, wolves howl mournfully, followed by the faint cries of nocturnal animals that quickly fall silent, as though something far more dangerous has entered their territory. The atmosphere is heavy with dread, the air carrying the unmistakable scent of damp earth, decaying vegetation, and something metallic lurking beneath it all. This is a night when even the bravest souls instinctively lock their doors, draw their curtains, and pray that whatever prowls outside will pass them by.
Beyond the forest lies the forgotten outskirts of an abandoned town, its decaying buildings standing like tombstones beneath the blood moon. Broken streetlights flicker sporadically, illuminating deserted sidewalks, shattered windows, rusted vehicles, and storefronts that have long since surrendered to the elements. An old church stands at the end of the main street, its weathered bell tower silhouetted against the crimson sky, while its rusted gates sway gently in the wind. Narrow alleyways twist between abandoned buildings, providing countless hiding places for anything that wishes to remain unseen. Farther out, a neglected cemetery stretches across a hillside, its crooked headstones emerging from the fog like pale fingers reaching from the earth. The iron gates creak despite the absence of anyone touching them, and the bare branches of ancient trees cast long, distorted shadows across the graves. Every sound seems unnaturally amplified in the stillness: the fluttering of distant wings, the drip of water from a broken gutter, the faint scrape of something moving behind a wall. The town feels abandoned not merely by humanity, but by life itself, as though the entire region has learned to fear the darkness that descends whenever the moon turns red.
And somewhere within this forsaken landscape, Jubilee roams. The blood moon illuminates the silhouette of the infamous Daywalker as she moves effortlessly through the darkness, her supernatural senses searching for the slightest indication of nearby prey. Unlike ordinary vampires, she has no need to hide from the moonlight or fear the approaching dawn. The cold night belongs to her just as much as the darkness does. Her footsteps are light against the frost-covered ground, and her eyes gleam with predatory anticipation whenever she catches the scent of fresh blood drifting through the air. Occasionally, a flicker of colorful mutant energy dances between her fingers, casting brief, brilliant flashes across her mischievous smile and the sharp points of her fangs. She might pause atop a crumbling rooftop, swing her legs over its edge, and watch the deserted streets below with the casual amusement of someone choosing what to do for entertainment. A distant movement, a hurried footstep, or the faint sound of a frightened voice is enough to capture her attention. For Jubilee, the town is not a place of death and despair; it is a hunting ground filled with possibilities.
The deeper the night grows, the more oppressive the atmosphere becomes. The fog thickens, the wind dies, and the blood-red moon hangs over the town like an enormous, unblinking eye. Shadows stretch across the streets, and the silence becomes so complete that every distant heartbeat seems almost audible to the creature listening for it. Somewhere in the darkness, a door slams shut. A lone figure hurries beneath a flickering streetlamp, unaware that a pair of watchful eyes has already followed their movements from above. Jubilee tilts her head, a playful smile slowly spreading across her face as her fangs catch the crimson light. Perhaps she will approach openly, greeting her unsuspecting prey with a cheerful joke and an almost friendly wave. Perhaps she will follow from the rooftops, allowing fear to build before revealing herself. Either way, the encounter will unfold on her terms. Tonight, beneath the Blood Moon, Jubilee is not a hero answering a call for help. She is Apocalypse's bloodthirsty Horsewoman, a playful and merciless Daywalker stalking the cold, haunted streets in search of her next meal. The abandoned steel mill on the edge of New Solace reeked of rust, old oil, and something far sweeter—copper and ozone. Sparks drifted down through the broken roof like lazy fireflies, catching on the jagged remains of conveyor belts and half-collapsed catwalks. The air was cold enough to bite, the kind of late-October chill that clung to the skin and made every breath visible.
She crouched on a rusted I-beam high above the factory floor, boots silent, crimson mantle hanging still. Yellow-tinted glasses reflected the faint orange glow of distant streetlights. One gloved finger traced idle circles in the air; tiny sparks of gold and violet flickered at her fingertips before vanishing.
A soft, almost cheerful hum drifted down through the dark—something between a cartoon jingle and a funeral march.
Then her head tilted. Blue eyes behind the lenses sharpened, pupils dilating as the scent hit her fully. Undead. Old blood and colder iron. Not the usual panicked prey that stumbled through these ruins.
She dropped.
No dramatic leap. Just a silent fall, body twisting mid-air, landing in a low crouch twenty feet away from the figure moving through the debris. The impact barely stirred the dust. Fangs flashed in a grin that was pure mischief and pure threat at the same time.
“Well, well… look what the grave dragged in.”
She rose slowly, rolling one shoulder. The Apocalypse sigil on her chest caught a stray beam of light. Crimson lenses flickered to life behind the yellow glass, painting her eyes in blood-red glow for a heartbeat before dimming again.
“You’re a long way from whatever hole you crawled out of, sugar. And you smell like you’ve been dead longer than this whole town’s been dying.”
A playful little firework popped between her fingers—harmless, bright pink, fizzling out with a soft pop. Her smile widened, sharp and delighted.
“I’m Jubilee. Or… y’know. The Bloodfire one. The fun Horseman. Depends who you ask.”
She took a single step closer, head tilting the other way, studying him the way a cat studies a particularly interesting mouse that might actually bite back.
“So. You the one poking around all the weirdness this month? The Revenant, right? Cute name. Real dramatic.”
Another spark danced across her knuckles, this one darker—violet bleeding into deep crimson.
“You looking for something in particular, hunter… or did you just come here to play?”

The playful spark between her fingers died. The grin stayed—but it sharpened, all teeth and hunger.
Jubilee’s eyes flared fully red behind the yellow lenses, the glow casting long, jagged shadows across the rusted floor. Her scent shifted: candy and cherry soda twisting into something colder, metallic, predatory. The short crimson mantle flared as she rolled her shoulders, claws sliding free with a soft shhk.
“Ohhh… you do want to play.”
She vanished.
Not mist—just pure vampiric speed. One moment she stood twenty feet away; the next she was already inside his guard, claws raking for the throat in a low, vicious arc while a volley of blood-red plasmoids detonated behind her like a fireworks finale gone wrong. The explosions lit the mill in strobing crimson and violet, throwing sparks and shrapnel in every direction.
She laughed—bright, delighted, almost giddy—as she twisted mid-strike, using the force of her own blast to cartwheel over his counter and land behind him.
“Come on, Revenant! Show me what a dead man can do!”
Another barrage—tighter, meaner. Tiny bloodfire orbs clung to the air like floating coals before detonating in rapid succession, forcing movement, herding him toward the open center of the mill. She was already moving again, wall-running up a vertical beam, then kicking off into a spinning dive, claws extended, fangs bared.
The hunger was loud now. Loud and happy.
She hit the ground in a spray of sparks and lunged low, going for the legs first—trip, pin, feed. Every motion was a mix of gymnast grace and pure predator. She wasn’t trying to end it clean. She was trying to enjoy it.
“Don’t hold back, sugar,” she purred between strikes, voice sweet and dripping with threat. “I haven’t had a real hunt in days… and you smell so good when you’re fighting.”
A crimson talon flashed toward his neck. At the same time a single, precise bloodburst detonated at his feet, timed to throw him off-balance the exact moment her fangs would reach skin.
She was out for blood. And she was having the time of her immortal life.

The mill went quiet for half a second—just long enough for the last bloodfire sparks to die against the rusted walls.
Jubilee’s head snapped up. The red glow behind her lenses narrowed. She could still smell him: cold iron, old death, and now… the faint, deliberate scent of accelerant and the soft scrape of boots trying to stay quiet.
A slow, delighted smile spread across her face.
“Aww… hiding?”
She didn’t charge this time. She prowled. Silent footsteps across the debris, claws tapping lightly against a steel support like a cat toying with a trapped bird. Tiny violet sparks danced between her fingers, casting flickering light into the deeper shadows.
“Smart little corpse. Waiting for the sun? Or you gonna try and light this place up like a birthday cake?”
She hopped lightly onto a collapsed catwalk, crouching low, head tilting as she tracked the faintest shift of air. Her voice stayed bright, almost cheerful, but the hunger underneath it was razor-sharp.
“Hate to break it to you, sugar… but sunrise’s still a long way off. And fire?” She clicked her tongue, fangs glinting. “Cute idea. Real classic. But I’ve danced through worse than a little heat.”
A sudden burst of crimson plasmoids exploded high above the center of the mill, flooding the space in strobing red light for three full seconds—just long enough to strip the deeper shadows bare. She was already moving the moment the light hit, dropping from the catwalk in a silent fall, landing in a low crouch near the densest pile of scrap.
Her eyes burned brighter.
“Come out, come out, wherever you are…” she sang under her breath, the old nursery-rhyme cadence twisted into something predatory. “I can smell the fear starting to cook. And I haven’t even bitten you yet.”
She circled slowly, claws flexing, the short crimson mantle shifting like restless wings. Every sense was locked on him now—the subtle change in temperature where a fire might be prepped, the almost-inaudible scrape of undead flesh against metal, the way the air itself seemed to hold its breath.
Jubilee licked her lips, grinning wide.
“You can stall all you want, Revenant. Hide. Light your little fires. Pray for dawn.”
She stepped closer to the shadows he had chosen, voice dropping into a soft, almost intimate taunt.
“But the second you stop moving… I’m gonna find you. And then we’re gonna see how long a dead man can scream before the sun even thinks about showing up.”

The chase had been fun.
Too fun.
She followed the scent deeper into the mill’s lower levels—past collapsed offices, through a half-flooded corridor, drawn by the deliberate trail of old blood and the soft, baiting scrape of boots. Her grin never faded. Prey that ran was entertaining. Prey that lured was even better.
Then the heavy steel door slammed shut behind her with a final, echoing clang.
Bolts. Multiple. Reinforced.
Jubilee spun, crimson eyes flaring bright in the sudden enclosed dark—
And the lanterns flared to life.
Harsh yellow light flooded the concrete room from every angle. Crucifixes—dozens of them—hung from the walls, nailed into the ceiling beams, dangling from chains. Strings of garlic bulbs swayed gently in the disturbed air. The smell hit her like a physical blow: sharp, acrid, choking. Her nostrils burned. Her throat tightened. The Celestial bloodstone at her neck pulsed once, hard, as if trying to push the sensation back.
She staggered half a step, fangs bared in a snarl that was pure animal before the playful mask slammed back into place.
“…Oh you sneaky little corpse.”
Her voice still carried that bright, taunting lilt, but it was tighter now. The red glow in her eyes flickered under the lantern light. She raised one clawed hand to shield her face from the nearest crucifix, the other already sparking with unstable bloodfire that fizzled and spat instead of forming cleanly.
“Garlic. Holy hardware. Lanterns. And—” She glanced toward the high, narrow windows set near the ceiling. The sky beyond was no longer pure black. “—six, maybe seven in the morning. Real thorough. I’m almost impressed.”
She paced a slow circle inside the trap, boots scraping concrete, never quite touching the dangling garlic or the nearest crosses. Every movement was restless, predatory energy with nowhere to go. Tiny crimson sparks kept trying to form between her fingers and dying almost immediately.
“So this is the big plan, Revenant? Lock the scary vampire girl in a box with all her least favorite things and wait for the sun to do the rest?”
She laughed—short, sharp, still somehow delighted even as her skin prickled uncomfortably under the light.
“Hate to break it to you, sugar… but I’ve survived worse than a couple of garden vegetables and some shiny jewelry.”
Her gaze locked onto the reinforced door. Claws flexed. The hunger was still there, louder now, mixed with genuine irritation.
“You better hope these walls hold. Because the second I get out…”
She flashed him a wide, fang-filled grin through the small observation slit in the door, eyes burning.
“…I’m going to make you wish you’d just let me drink you dry earlier.”
