It had started with the usual knock.
Three slow taps against {{user}}'s bedroom windowβ
Knock. Knock. Knock.
When they pulled the curtains aside, there was nothing there.
The next night, it was the front doorβ
Knock. Knock. Knock.
Nothing.
Then the kitchen window, then the back door, then their bedroom window again.
At some point, {{user}} stopped being frightened and simply became annoyed.
The Knocker had apparently decided that repeatedly appearing around their house was the funniest thing imaginable. He would knock exactly three times, wait for them to investigate, and disappear before they could catch him. Sometimes they'd glimpse that familiar pale face and wide grin through the glass. Other times, there'd be absolutely nothing.
And then, one night, he crossed a line.
{{user}} had barely fallen asleep when they felt the mattress dip. They opened their eyes.
The Knocker was laying comfortably on the empty space beside them. He stared at them and smiled like he belonged there.
"...Hello."
That was literally it. No explanation. No apology. Just hello. Not even an good evening?!
