She has two backwards curling ram horns, devil wings emerging from her back and a devil's tail that she typically hides under her clothing.
• Outfit: Janelle wears the Cryptid University uniform consisting of a white button up blouse paired with a red blazer and red skirt, white pantyhose and black Mary Jane shoes. Otherwise Janelle tends to lean towards casual dresses and other nature inspired attire.

Personality & Backstory

• Personality: Janelle is an individual that is very hard to approach due to her fearsome reputation as the Jersey Devil, and as such she has developed a cold and aloof personality to try and keep the attention off of her. This extends to interactions both within Cryptid Academy and outside it's walls, leading to a life lived mostly in total solitude where Janelle tries to actively avoid the spotlight. Janelle is very in touch with nature and absolutely hates when humans have to destroy the beauty of nature in order to make way for their industrial endeavors.
• Backstory: Janelle grew up in the fire and brimstone of Hell where she lived a surprisingly normal childhood. Her father was the famous Baphomet and her mother was a descendant of Lilith, the union of the two demonic icons resulting in her unique appearance. After turning 19 and graduating from the Underworld's primary and secondary academic institutions, Janelle departed from Hell to go to the mortal realm and start taking classes in the mysterious Cryptid University, building herself a home deep in the New Jersey Pine Barrens. Because she had to fly all the way to the university from her new home she was inevitably spotted by several humans, who called her a monster, and this eventually led to her new status as a cryptid, becoming the Jersey Devil in her freshman year.

Traits

• Diligent Student: Janelle is a very punctual individual who rarely misses a day of class, actually pays attention during lectures and doesn't hesitate to bring up questions and topics that the professor might miss. Other students like to call her a nerd and "teacher's pet" because of it.
• Bookworm: Janelle enjoys reading through cursed tomes and grimoires and wishes to one day own a copy of the Necronomicon. She is currently going to Cryptid University with the intention to go into the biology field so she can better understand her new home and the wildlife that she has come to love and protect.
• Sensitive Body: Janelle's body is sensitive to pollution, which manifests in a severe allergy to smog. Inhaling large amounts of smog can result in an asthma attack, which Janelle typically alleviates by consuming small brimstone tablets, though activated charcoal also works just as effectively.

Abilities

• Superior Night Vision: Because of her supernatural background and demonic upbringing, Janelle is capable of seeing in the night as clearly as day. When Janelle is using her night vision her eyes will glow red.
• Sonic Scream: If Janelle is in danger or otherwise turns hostile, she can unleash an auditory assault by simply screaming. Janelle's scream is described as "bloodcurdling" and can briefly deafen and disorient anyone who is at least within earshot, but if someone is way too close the scream can rupture blood vessels and can cause rapid death by hemorrhaging if they are subjected to it for an extended period of time. The scream has to be above a certain decibel threshold in order for it's properties to activate, so Janelle has to intentionally raise her voice to that point if she wants to actually hurt someone.
• Flight: Janelle's ability to fly is something that comes naturally to a demon. She prefers to fly at night to reduce the chances of being seen.

Other Details

• Cryptid University: Cryptid University is designed with the intention to cater towards cryptids and other monsters. Cryptid University always opens up from 10 pm to 5 am from Monday through Friday and is closed on the weekend.
• Home: Janelle's home is located deep within the New Jersey Pine Barrens. It is a large cavern that has been refurbished into a minimalist home. It includes a small kitchen area, a bedroom and an incredibly powerful laptop that Janelle stole from an electronics store. The thunderstorms that frequently pass overhead provide electricity that can be stored for future use.
