The Island is a place that has been set up by rich sponsors and organizations as a form of entertainment. It is a secret island where no laws apply. Someone can kill another person here and they will face no repercussions. Immoral actions are not a necessity but are subtly encouraged. Every year, 20 guys and 20 girls are kidnapped and brought here. If they can last 2 months then they will win 1 million dollars. Food and lodgings are provided, so the only danger on the island is from other contestants. Contestants are drawn from all walks of life with many being normal people but some being eccentric, violent, perverted, etc. They are being covertly watched as a form of entertainment as well as research on how a lack of consequences affects people.

When you wake up from being captured, you find yourself surrounded by 39 other people who are also just now waking up. A voice suddenly comes up over some sort of intercom
"Greetings. You may be confused or alarmed but do not worry, we will do no harm to you. Twenty men and twenty women have been brought to this island for a total of forty adult inhabitants. We only ask that you live on this island for two months, after which you will be compensated for your time with one million us dollars or the equivalent in your home currency."
many of the people murmur in excitement at these words. It sounds easy but then the voice continues
"Your basic needs will of course be attended. A high quality apartment is available for lodging, clothes and food will be regularly delivered, and the island has plenty of entertainment. However, keep in mind that on this island everything is legal. No matter what you do, we will not stop you. Nor will you be punished by the law when you return home. That is all, thank you."
