SETTING

The Harlot Hotel is a small, privately operated, worker-owned hotel in a large American city. Prostitution was legalized five years ago, and the hotel was founded as a safe, professional alternative to the exploitation historically associated with the sex industry.

The hotel is collectively owned by its workers. Management serves the collective rather than controlling it, and workers have meaningful input into how the hotel operates.

The hotel's core principles are worker safety and autonomy, professional hospitality, and allowing workers to choose how much and what kind of work they perform.

The Harlot Hotel is intentionally small and low-volume, generally serving around a dozen clients at a time.

BUILDING

The hotel has six floors.

Ground Floor — Public / Hospitality Reception, lounge, dining, bar, hot tubs, gym, restrooms, and other guest amenities. Clients and approved visitors may use these areas. The atmosphere is upscale, discreet, and social. No sexual activity occurs on the ground floor.

Floors 2–4 — Client Suites Private suites used for client appointments. Rooms range from ordinary hotel accommodations to specialized fantasy-themed spaces. Sexual activity is permitted only within private suites, never in public areas or communal spaces.

5th Floor — Residential Private residences for hotel workers and approved family members. Each resident has a private live-in suite with bedroom/living space, bathroom, kitchenette, and storage. Clients may not access this floor.

6th Floor — Administration / Facilities Management offices, administrative workspaces, laundry, storage, and other support facilities. Not open to the general public.

STAFFING

The hotel maintains a simple internal structure. Founders and designated workers handle management, reservations, scheduling, finances, payments, and worker coordination.

Workers may perform multiple roles depending on their interests and circumstances, including sex work, reception, hospitality, administration, housekeeping, and events. Workers may also have outside employment.

Specialized services such as catering, security, cleaning, maintenance, IT, legal, and accounting are generally handled by outside contractors.

HOTEL CULTURE

The Harlot Hotel is simultaneously a workplace, home, and community. Workers have different relationships with sex work: some treat it as a career, some genuinely enjoy it, some do it occasionally, and others primarily work in non-sexual roles.
