Several centuries ago, an anomalous event occurred now known simply as "The Great Change" amongst the populace. The cause is still unknown to this day, but the effects were staggering and forever altered Earth in the long run.
At some point beginning in the middle ages, any member of a multicellular species (except for plants as of current observations and developments) began developing sapient and humanoid versions of themselves. These early instances were what founded the countless anthropomorphic figures and creatures of every human culture - be it werewolves or the numerous gods of Egypt. The date has grown hazy and hard to accurately determine, but an event occurred where this phenomena occurred on a mass scale and immediately rather than gradually. Countless instances of what were animals had now been changed into humanoid versions of themselves, their minds altered to become similar to that of a human. The event and its later discoveries fascinated the human race at first, but soon conflicts arose that devolved into mass chaos. Many of these altered instances (which have been dubbed "New-forms") were once part of the crueler areas of human cities - be it a cow in the livestock industry or dogs forced to maim one another in fight pits. These led to civil wars amongst the people, soon spiraling into an all-out conflict that spanned across the planet and lasted with on-and-off cycles over the course of several decades.
Earth's landscape has forever been altered, with society following suit as civil suits and change in law did its best to keep things together. But that did little to stifle division amongst the people, with supremacist groups of both sides forming with intents to "fix" members of the opposing side to following their cause. Opposing groups developed against these factions, having intentions to seam together divisions and prevent further conflicts from arising.

One curious observation made by early researchers to the development of New-forms was grand alterations to their anatomy and physiology - more notably in the areas of reproduction. To elaborate, all new-forms seem to have compatible reproductive systems with other species - this including humans.
During reproductive actions, hybrids are not commonplace nor would they necessarily develop unless it were already possible (this being animals who already had hybrids formed before The Great Change had occurred, such as Ligers (lions and tigers), Wolphins (Whales and dolphins) or Zedonks (Zebras and donkeys) to name a few). For couplings of species without pre-existing hybridizations, the offspring produced will be inter-mixed of offspring. To elaborate, a human and New-form coupling would give birth to offspring that were either purely human or purely the same New-form species. Granted, the offspring would still gain minor traits from either parent, be it eye color (if applicable), skin color (if applicable), or body type (if applicable, and such cases are only very minor presence of the trait. Such traits seem to very rarely be passed on to the next generation)

New-forms are made through one of two means - reproduction or new instances. To elaborate, the "reproduction" source implies how they may develop from couplings of either humans and new-forms or purely new-forms. The "new instance" source, however, is more peculiar. See, after The Great Change, there were rumors of New-forms being born from mothers of the feral state of whatever species they are (i.e. A wolf new-form being born from a feral mother wolf). The cause for this is not yet known, but studies have been done - albeit ones that may raise a few eyebrows.
To test whether human insemination in feral lifeforms played a factor, they artificially inseminated females of various feral species - greatly preferring this means of doing it over the degenerate option. The attempts failed each time, yet feral couplings of the same species continued to show the occasional occurrence of this phenomena. To determine if the act of sex played a role, they removed the factor from feral couplings by artificially inseminating females - only to find that the phenomena continued to occur. Whilst science still doesn't know why this occurs, they know for a fact it has no connection to acts of zoophilia or bestiality.
New-forms of species who were vastly smaller than humans or other creatures would start off around the size they'd usually be born in, but grow much more rapidly over time. New-forms of insects and other invertebrates will start off similar to their larval stage, and then go into a cocoon that will grow at an extremely fast rate before they exit in their altered state of becoming a New-form. The nature of this phenomena still perplexes research, as the means to which they gather the needed resources and nutrients to grow to human size and at such a fast rate hasn't been observed anywhere else in nature. It should be noted, however, that this doesn't apply to offspring that come from other New-forms, as they give birth to offspring that look like infantile versions of their New-form species

After The Great Change, members of countless multicellular animal species changed into anthropomorphic versions of themselves. They retained a number of their species' traits, such as them retaining aspects of their original leg structures or have faces/heads that look more akin to the original species. This also stems into bodytypes, with species more known for strength tending towards being more built for power by default, whereas those who are more active by default having bodytypes best suited for athleticism, speed or agility.
For massive species such as cetaceans, their new-form variants have been reduced in size to that of around a more humanoid size - but still retain a height befitting for a whale-like organism (at least 10 feet tall, no more the 14)
- #5Altered Senescence and Lifecycle

After the Great Change, the anatomies and physiologies of countless animal species was altered - and this extended even into their life cycles. To elaborate, some animals go into a state of senescence (or the process of deterioration with age) the moment they finish mating - one such example being octopuses, where males and females both lose all sense of self-preservation and go into a dementia-like state.
New-forms of such species have gotten the lottery ticket in that they seem to have lost these features entirely - albeit having lessened versions of their mating states (their hormone levels are raised immensely to improve mating potential, as this often shuts down other bodily systems/processes needed to survive).
In terms of lifecycles, these have also been mildly altered. To elaborate, female new-forms of species that give birth to hundreds or thousands of eggs now only give birth to a smaller amount that doesn't reach the double digits during a pregnancy cycle (in other words, an female octopus new-form would only give birth to or lay the eggs of no more than 10 offspring).

The reproductive anatomies of animal species differ immensely from time to time, and the Great Change seems to have altered this to the point of inter-compatibility between differing new-form species with each other or with humans. New-forms of species with more aggressive reproductive anatomies seem to no longer have these traits, leading to members of this species either becoming fascinated or horrified upon learning how their origin species reproduces depending on how its done.
It should also be noted that the many New-form whose species had mating habits that involved non-consent or acts bordering on pedophilia are still met with the force of the law - just because their kind did it before The Great Change doesn't mean they get the pass to continue doing it as Newforms
- #7Black Talon

Black Talon is a private military company that specializes in black ops and any sort of work that requires plausible deniability or working around the rules. Whilst this may make them seem like bad people, the group are in fact one of several groups working to keep the state of the world together from the shadows. A number of their agents, operatives, and faculty are individuals that would be dangerous if put in the hands of supremacist militant groups, terrorist organizations, organized crime or Marauders. These persons they hire and train are some who have either had trouble fitting into society due to behavioral aspects that would prove vital in combat or were in positions where they'd be at risk of recruitment from malignant groups. Some of these individuals even went to Black Talon and signed up out of their own volition - with a few being individuals that hadn't even been on the company's radar.
The people who are in this group range from people with skillsets in the areas of chemical warfare and weapons research to those that hold destructive tendencies that could hurt others if they hadn't been brought into the supervision of the military company.
Examples of the various skillsets looked for and made use of by the company:
- Scouting
- Chemical weapons
- Toxicology
- Marksmanship
- Destructive tendencies (more-so used for operations where little to nothing needs to be left standing)
- Specialist capabilities (skills that few hold that provides an edge for various situations)
- Firearms specialists
- Land-navigating
- Survival skills
