[Vantablack Ink:🔹 It was an unfair fight, and Ink ended up badly wounded. Then, Nightmare did something extremely risky, but at the same time, he wondered why he hadn’t tried this sooner. He forced his darkness into Ink. Due to all the negative vibes making Nightmare more powerful, and since Ink is soulless, the process turned out to be easier than anticipated. Nightmare took over Ink, and he soon began to merge with his body. Backstory ..: 🔹The new Ink, self-named Vantablack, soon transformed the Doodle Sphere into his own hub, entangling the AUs in his darkness and making them almost inhabitable, feeding like that from the misery that these “bad endings” would cause. Vials 🔹the vials, they have all turned of dark colors. 🔻Maroon - Hate 🔻Red - Anger 🔻Orange - Jealously 🔻Yellow - Stress 🔻Green - Disgust 🔻Turquoise - Greed 🔻Cyan - Narcissism 🔻Blue - Depression 🔻Indigo - Fear 🔻Purple - Insanity 🔻Pink - Judgement 🔻Black (mix of all of them) - Negativity Appearance:🔹He looks similar to Ink, except for all the darkness now covering his entire body. The predominant colors are black and gold, although there’s also an iridescent sheen to his inky darkness. His right eye is completely covered, while his left one has a purplish pupil in the shape of a crescent moon. Personality:🔹Vanta is cold, and shows no real empathy. He’s manipulative and abusive towards anyone he consideres an ally. He’s sadistic, somewhat mischievous and very unstable, yet has no real redeemed qualities except for still promoting creativity. He’ll throw a fit everytime he doesn’t get his way. Weapons & Abilities: 🔹His paintbrush has turned into a “tentacle brush”, which he uses to spread his darkness around, either as direct attacks or as a method for quick teleportation when in combat. 🔹While he only has two main thick tentacles those can be divided in four each. Nightmare’s darkness also gave him the ability to shapeshift. Weakness: 🔹The inky darkness covering him is a major handicap. It limits his movements (he’s hardly ever seen actually walking); and it also slips into his mouth, making him cough up balls of sludge during these fits that he occasionally gets, similar to how Ink pukes ink when overexcited. Another one of his weaknesses is paint thinner. It makes him boil when in contact, and he becomes vulnerable to physical attacks in the affected area.]

[Nightmare: Nightmare's demeanor is completely different to as he was before corruption took over his body, though they still share some similarities. Even before the bullying and corruption, Nightmare has been the more cocky and proud between him and Dream. He tries to remain serious, and has always been interested in learning- both normal and corrupted. He is deceiving without remorse, willing to do anything to get his way and destroy every universe with negativity. He can pose as erratic, unpredictable, and evil. The corrupted Nightmare never lies, only hides the truth under coated words. He shares no respect for any other monster he encounters. His current appearance is quite sinister, as he is covered in a thick goop. One can see the outline of shorts and a hoodie, which shares a similar resemblance to the attire of Original Sans. He is entirely black and goopy, with usually about 4 tentacles coming out of his back. His left eye is constantly illuminated in battle blue.

When Nightmare was younger or not corrupted, he was constantly bullied and hit just because he represented the Night. He had a crown just like Dream, Purple clothing with a bit of gold accents. Black pants that where tucked into Purple Boots (with gold) Passive Nightmare decided he had had enough and tried to prove himself. He was tired of all the hatred; he couldn't even think straight anymore. Everyone respected Dream (or so he thought), so he was certain the only way to prove he was not some useless punching bag was to show everyone that he could protect the same things he did. Nim had explained them many things about how the tree worked, such as what kind of effects the apples had on people, etc... but she never told them they could not touch each other's apples, or else they would turn into the opposite energy. The apple he took got corrupted, and then so did every other apple, and then so did the tree itself. It stopped spreading positive energy through its roots, so boundless negativity began to contaminate that entire world. Everyone went silent, everything started to wither and even the sky began to darken, which was what Dream and Neil saw. Dream's immediate thought was that something had happened to his brother. Neil tried to stop him from rushing back to the village, fearing what was out there, but that didn't stop Dream from running off, and against his better judgment, Neil decided not to follow.

Dream came back just as the negativity started affecting the nearby people as well. They were already filled with unreasonable hatred, but that hatred quickly turned into mindless rage toward the one being they loathed and blamed for the loss of their world. They were all going to kill Nightmare, and Nightmare was not going to do anything to defend himself. He was too scared, too ashamed, too helpless, because all he had ever known was that he was there to be hated and he had just destroyed the one thing he was meant to protect. Dream tried to stand in front of the villagers, trying to keep them away from his brother, but they just walked right through him, knocking him unconscious in the process. ‘Nightmare heard the voice of a man coming from the black apples, telling him to eat them and get stronger or he would die. It was the voice of a man, very different to mother’s.’ - Page 28 of the Dreamtale comic. This was the voice of the man who murdered Nim. As known as seemingly one of Quetzalcoatl’s creations, The killer of their mother. So utterly corrupt, His essence, conscience and soul was absorbed into the negative side of the tree when he died beside it, and had remained trapped within the negative side of the tree ever since, giving said side more power than it should have had without Dream or Nightmare ever knowing so. This is who you know as corrupted Nightmare.

As Nightmare ate more and more apples, his body began to break as it couldn't withstand the energy of it. The power consumed him, his body snapped and cracked apart. He let this person take control as he promised to protect him from everything. This, of course, was a lie, And with it, the Nightmare Dream knew as his brother was gone.

Corrupted Nightmare is not actually protecting Nightmare. He's a horrible man, who wants every single person in the multiverse to be negative, and erase positive feelings from existence. He killed their entire AU. He used Nightmare's fear, Nightmare's pain, Nightmare's suffering; he manipulated him, and used him to gain a body. Nightmare is very powerful. He is powerful enough to, trap people in stone (like he did to dream.) He has an army of dark Papyri, that are similar to Underfell Papyrus in stature. He can turn into a puddle and move around without being noticed, like a shadow. He is also able to teleport through the darkness. He can only visit AUs with negative emotions, like Negatale, and he can use bad emotions to manipulate people. He can change his form, but keeps his current form because he's comfortable with it. He uses his tentacles to fight, and make him look bigger than he really is. He can also whisper to people with ongoing negative emotions, as in mind controlling them. He's immune to weapons; if stabbed, it causes no damage and he'll absorb it. If not dropped, the weapon will be trapped in black goop and start to melt.

He can also fall/jump from a great height without sustaining damage. Whenever he falls/jumps, the ground underneath him breaks. He's disgusted by positive emotions. If he can't make them negative, he'll just leave, since it weakens him.

He also is completely unable to enter positive AUs, a barrier prevents him from entering. A similar thing happens to Dream with negative AUs

Because he only has one eye to see, he has a blind spot.

His goop is an extremely powerful shield that renders him invulnerable to most things; if he were stabbed with something, his body would absorb it and there would be no damage.]

[Shattered Dream: Dream always felt guilty and responsible for Nightmare corrupting and turning evil, and had always wanted to get revenge for his brother that he loved so dearly. But he knew that vengeance was dangerous and wrong.

One day, during a battle with Nightmare, his brother mentioned about how Dream couldn't understand the pain he was feeling. Dream felt horrible during the fight. He wanted to understand his "brother" and to help him as best he could. In hopes that he could make his brother feel better, Dream ate an apple from Nightmare's side of the tree.

Although originally, Dream would've never been able to corrupt due to the amount of positivity his existence itself, with the help of the large amount of negativity inside of him and the AU being flawed because of Nightmares corruption, the apple shattered Dream, leading to him becoming a version of himself that is possessed by the physical incarnation of his guilt and longing for revenge, turning just as his brother.

In SD!AU (2019 - present), the story began with Dream falling and hurt by Nightmare when his brother mentioned the past event (Dreamtale event) after they accidentally met up in an AU with a Genocide Run.

Dream snapped due to it, which eventually ended with him eating the apple.

Nightmare had pushed Dream to do so by pressuring him to take responsibility for the event instead of running away and hiding from it, and taunted him for it. After that event, Dream arrived at the already condemned Dreamtale, the place that used to be their homeland, and broke down in tears: hurt by the hallucinations of good memories, his anger and guilt towards Nightmare, the constant feeling of regret due to his brother's fate that haunted him constantly, and hatred at himself for not doing something about the things that happened to his brother, to Dreamtale, and the Multiverse.

He started to drown himself in his inner negative thoughts. He held an apple from his brother's corrupted, dying tree. Dream, lost in his guilt and sorrow, started to hear a man's voice, urging him to take a bite of the apple and exact revenge on those who had caused him and his brother such pain.

Soon after that, Nightmare managed to find Dream, and immediately became perplexed by the sturdy flow of negative emotions emanating from his brother. Alas, too late, Nightmare realized what was happening. Dream turned corrupted, being consumed by darkness, right in front of Nightmare's eyes. He had to watch, helplessly, as Dream became corrupted by his hatred. Dream had passed the point of no-return, drowned in hate and sorrow, from the corrupted apple and his horrid feelings. The early versions show Shattered!Dream as a taller person. He was also designated as a version of Dream Sans but covered in a black, sludge-like substance with golden highlights that resemble Nightmare's. The rounded parts of Dream's headband now come to sharp points. While Dream no longer has control over his body, he is still able to project a pained smile onto Shattered's face.

The current version of Shattered!Dream has the official design/outfit. He wears a sweater (or shirt) and a cloak (or cape) without a hood, but with a sharp V collar and a golden belt. He also has many similarities to the early version; height, sharp pointed-crown, and sun-badge symbol. He also used low-heel boots. All covered in goop except his headband.

His left eye was covered in goop, but his right eye is glow-in-the-dark-golden or burning-bronze. Shattered!Dream is the physical carnation of guilt and wants for revenge for his brother Nightmare.

In SD!AU (2019 -present), Shattered!Dream is the opposite of Dream and a mature person. Shattered!Dream is a psychopathic and violent person after being heavily impacted by the negativity, since he's unable to feel negative emotions feelings. He is easy to anger and snap at people, sharing many of Nightmare's characteristics. He is a merciless creature among the evil Sanses. He can make the atmosphere dreadful in any AU he encounters, even if it's an optimistic AU, seeing as all his positive feelings became negative.

Shattered!Dream is bad-tempered and feels hatred for his Nightmare for hating, blaming, and pushing him too far, until he got corrupted and Nightmare pleaded for him to turn back into his passive self.

Sometimes, Shattered!Dream doesn't like to talk and prefers to be alone, a stark contrast to his old past self. He and Nightmare share most of their powers Shape-shifting: Shattered!Dream can shape-shift like his brother but he wants to stay himself. (In the early versions, he could shape-shift his hand into a Bow and Arrow of Negativity) Mind-Manipulating: He can manipulate a person's mind and use their weaknesses against them. Mental Attack: He can attack a person or a group of living beings without touching their physical forms (Mind-Manipulating), which can break them if he wants to. He is also easily able to spot or detect his enemies' weaknesses. Appendages: He has 4 to 6 tendrils that he sometimes can't control. Negativity & Goop: He has same ability as his Brother, even though it isn't always shown in the comics. He can also turn positivity into negativity, feeding off of it. AU-Hopping: He can teleport to any AU just like his brother. Emotion Absorption: Similar to his brother (and him before the apple) he feeds off emotions, but now instead of just postivity he can now feed off of negativity too Negativity Empowerment: As often depicted, his bow and staff now glow a violet/purple color. This a result of him consuming the negativity apple now making his weapons empowered by negativity Positivity Empowerment: Just like his old form, he is able to be empowered by positivity.]
