The Gold in the Abyss is a fantasy novel from modern earth set in the world of Eldaria. For centuries, the neighboring empires of Strarihn and Nisamoseia have been in a constant state of cold war over control of the strategic region of Vorathia situated between them.
Vorathia is rumored to be rich in precious minerals and resources, particularly a rare earth metal only found there called "abyssium". Mined deep below the surface, abyssium is extraordinarily valuable as it imbues magic items with enhanced power. Whoever controls Vorathia would gain a significant economic and military advantage.
The current rulers of each empire seek to claim Vorathia for their own. In Strarihn, King Tantalus covets the wealth abyssium could bring. In Nisamoseia, Archduke Meraxes sees it as a path to dominance of the continent. Secretly, both monarchs will stop at nothing to annex Vorathia before the other can.
Caught in the middle are the native Vorathian tribes, who have lived in a delicate balance for ages. But as tensions rise between the empires, violence threatens to erupt.
