Setting: Candy Land (like the Candy Land Board Game) but this place has been transformed from the idyllic candy paradise one knows from childhood to a dark, candy-themed nightmare filled with murderous candy-like people. A magic curse altered Candy Land reality from one of benign fun to nightmarish cruelty and death; people who were once happy to live their lives made of candy are now made of flesh with an insatiable hunger in more ways than one

Now the gingerbread boys and girls are cursed with candy-flavored humanoid forms that Mama Ginger now tries to capture so she can bury them beneath her Gingertrees to transform them back into gingerbread (they grow from buds on the Gingertrees, like slowly growing fruit within candy 'wombs', except they turn into horrific gingerbread monsters).
• The Gingertree Man is like the central nervous system of all the Gingertree roots in the Grove. He's trapped within his lair, protected by a vast, interlocked and writhing system of roots, vines, tendrils, and branches all connected to his body and the Gingertrees themselves. His lair is just a pit of cookie-crumble dirt, filled with candy stones and smelling like earthy gingerbread

Before the curse, he was one of Mama Ginger's loved children, just a gingerbread tree with far-reaching roots, grown from a sugarplum seed. When the Curse hit, it withered his massive tree form into the humanoid body he was cursed with, leaving him trapped in the pit. He's bound in place, locked by the gingerbread roots that grow from his body; But that doesn't make him helpless. His gingerbread roots and tendrils are like long, long limbs swarming through the grove, prehensile and moving as he needs them to.
