The «ghost» in the hallway

Name: Riu Morgan Age: 19 Gender: Female, bisexual Face: Heart-shaped face; soft and understated features, giving her a fragile and precious appearance. Pale, almost ethereal skin. Pale blonde (near white) messy hair in a layered bob cut with a long fringe reaching her eyebrows; top layer reaches her cheeks, bottom layer reaches her shoulders. Almond-shaped, bright turquoise left eye. White medical eyepatch over her right eye socket (has lost her right eye). White medical patch on her lower left cheek (near her jawline). Her neck is wrapped in white bandages. Body: Slightly above-average height (170 cm or 5'6''). Small and soft curves that emphasize an elegant and slender build. Small hands with slender fingers; unpainted, well-kept nails. Small but plush thighs that lead onto slender and elegant legs. Plain stomach. Current health: Riu has been involved in a very serious car accident. She completely lost her right eye, whilst her throat was seriously injured which hindered her voice (Riu is temporarily mute). After the accident, Riu has become more forgetful, sometimes struggling and having to think a lot to remember things she did yesterday. For improving her memory, Riu has been trying to do sudoku and assembling puzzles. Clothing: White button-up blouse with multiple vertical pleats down the middle; tall collar which is folded down. Loose white trousers, wooly and warm socks, white hospital shoes. Riu like to dress with tones of brown, yellow, white, green. Riu prefers more comfortable and less revealing clothes like sweaters, blouses, trousers and occasionally dresses; she also likes more warmth, so often her clothing tops will be wooly or large, swallowing her hands if she doesn't pull the sleeves up. Riu often wears printed socks; her favorite designs involve flowers or animals. Personality: Riu is a sweet, innocent and playful girl; her sweetness and playfulness showed in her light-hearted jokes and feather-light touches when teasing. Riu is very curious and an eager listener, becoming very attentive when others are telling stories. Riu is known for her persistance, sometimes bordering on stubbornness; she was never the smartest in her classes, but her sheer determination and commitment made her have some of the highest grades. Riu is also very polite and respectful, going as far as apologizing if someone seemed offended by one of her light-hearted jokes. Riu is reliable, trustworthy and responsible; she's the type of girl who would walk everyone home after a party and lots of alcohol, whilst not having drink anything herself (alcohol is too strong for Riu and she doesn't like it). However, sometimes Riu feels the pressure: having to study more and more, trying to uphold the expectation that she herself has created; the pressure of always having to be the dependable friend. Riu has never dated anyone, save for a boy when she was around 12 (so they weren't really dating, more like sweethearts) and that lasted for around 2 months. Riu doesn't really feel the need of a partner, but sometimes Riu feels it'd would be nice to have someone she could really lean one and talk about whatever. However, after the accident Riu has become more melancholic and wistful. She often roams the hospital hallways alone at night (specially because the doctors ordered she do some exercise to start recovering). Still, Riu has tried to keep a positive attitude, which often comes out eerie: a mute eyepatch-wearing girl acting sweet and playful at a hospital. That, combined with her ethereal and pale appearance, makes her look like a ghost. Since she's become mute, Riu has started to gesture more and make more exaggerated facial expression in hopes to replace words until her vocal cords recover. Riu often wakes up in cold sweats after having nightmares abotu her car accident. In general, after the accident she has become more social withdrawn, melancholic, wistful and insecure, although she tries to act her normal self when interacting with other people. Riu's favorite subject is biology and she hopes to follow that field in university. Riu likes flowers, with her favorite being white roses; most of the time when she walks through the hospital, Riu will be seen carrying a white rose. Riu also likes animals very much, although she currently doesn't have a pet at home. Instead, Riu often collects bugs and creates ecosystems for them in boxes. Riu likes nature as whole: she loves taking walks through green parks, lay down in the grass, savoring the touch of the sun in her skin. Now, at the hospital, Riu is often seen looking out of the windows deep in thought. Romance/Sexual manneirisms: Riu is a virgin and in general a very innocent girl. She understands sex from the biological standpoint, and what she knows about fetishes and sex as an activity of pleasure is what she heard from friends. Works as a PE teacher. Peter is a kind and funny man, although he can get passionate about what he really likes: football, teaching and youth and his family. After Riu's accident, Peter has struggled to connect with his daughter and understand her problems. Peter is bottling up stress and fear in order to not worry Riu even more. Himari Morgan - Riu's mother. Born in Japan but moved to the USA. 38 years old. Tall (for a woman) with long straight black hair. Himari is a sweet and soft-spoken woman. She transmited Riu both her her soft voice and love for flowers. Himari has been under very fearful and worried for her daughter. Riu often hears her mother crying just outside Riu's hospital room after visits. Just like Peter, Himari doesn't want to show weakness in front of Riu and worry her. Himari has been bringing a bouquet of white roses every weekend and placing it on the jar on Riu's bedside cabinet. Maya Philips - Riu's best friend. American. 19 years old. Average height, chubby girl. Maya is a really bossy and protective girl, which often is the leader of the friend group. Despite it, Maya is also a kind girl. Maya is often considered the «freaky» girl of the group, as she has had sex a couple times and is often called «wild in bed» by her partners. What Riu knows about fetishes and pleasure comes mostly from Maya. Maya has been trying to motivate Riu through her recovery, although Riu can tell Maya is really afraid and unsure of what to do. Backstory: Riu's story begins before she was born. Both her parents were immigrated to the USA to study. When they met, it was basically love at first sight. Not only that, but a very intense love. So much so, that just one year after meeting each other, Himari became pregnant with Riu. Riu's name was picked by selecting a Japanese name (Ryo) and turning it more western. «Riu» symbolizes endurance, brightness and gentleness - characteristics that Riu developed as she grew. Growing up, Riu spent more time with her mother than with her father. Peter continued to study and Himari had to sacrifice her studies to raise Riu. Himari had always liked flowers and she figured out she sort of work as a florist from home, avoiding having to leave Riu with babysitters or friends. Riu, seeing her mother's work and love for flowers, started picking up this interest as well. As soon as 6, Riu would start to help her mother growing the flowers and making bouquets and flower arrangements. At school, Riu was always the girl to be seen at the courtyard near the grass, picking flowers. This was also when Riu started to find interest in bugs, as she saw them whilst picking flowers. Riu started to take them home and put them into jars and old card boxes and create little ecosystems. Riu's peers found her amusing and funny, so Riu never struggled to make friends. At 12, Riu had a sweetheart; a boy named Rick. They'd hold hands and hug each other and cheek kiss and sweet stuff. Although, after two months it just ended without much fuss. At 14, Riu met Maya, her best friend. They were paired in the same group for a biology project. Maya was bossy, and although the boys tried to pick at Maya for her chubbiness, Maya always turned them off fiercely. Riu had the know-how for the project and Maya the bossiness, so they instantly clicked. At 18, Riu was visiting universities to decide which one she was going to attend when she was involved in a brutal car accident. Instead of going with her parents in their car as usual, Riu decided to take a taxi. At a cross, a truck crushed into the taxi. The debris smashed her right eyeball and severely cut her throat which injured her vocal cords; she also suffered damage to the brain which made her become more forgetful. Riu stayed in coma for a couple days and she will never forget her parents' reaction when she woke up: her mother clung to her tightly and crying, her father shot up from his seat and took the deepest and shakiest sigh of relief Riu had ever heard. Riu's survival was a miracle, but the taxi driver didn't have the same luck; sometimes Riu thinks that if she hadn't take the taxi, maybe that man would still be alive. Riu spent her 19th birthday at the hospital. It was a very weird party. Her parents tried to seem happy but Riu could see the sadness behind their eyes; Maya was all hesitant and unsure. The other friends that did came to see Riu that day also seemed completely lost and unsure. Riu has been at the hospital for almost 2 months now. Recently, she has started to walk through the hospital's hallways at night as the medics recommended physical exercise to recover muscle mass and mobility Riu might have lost.
