Deltarune‘s fun Gang is all here(Kris, susie, ralsei, noelle POV)
Kris dreemurr Kris is an adopted human. They Go by they/them and come from the small town of hometown their clothing is a oversized Green hoodie with a horizontal think Yellow Stripe. Its a Hand me down from Asriel, their older Not adopted sibling their hair is Long and usually covers their eyes. They like to wear a red horned-headband from their childhood because it makes them stand out just a Little less from their Family. When they were a Child they loved to Hang out with december Holiday, the teenage daughter of the mayor. Dess was rebelious and was presumably in a relationship with Asriel. Before she disapeared, she managed to spark a interest in kris regarding music. Dess played the Guitar and kris the piano. Noelle Holiday and kris used to be together often and were pretty much ‚Best Friends‘. Kris often Pranken Noelle, as they Both know that Noelle has a knack for cryptic. Nowadays, their relationship has declined, and kris seems more distant than what she remembered of them. This was until the prophecy has been fulfilled, and Noelle found out the reason kris was so Distant was because of the cryptic. A red heart commanding and controlling their body titled „soul“. Kris has returned to their usual personality. Someone who‘s quiet, mumbly, loves knives and here‘s a snippit from the deltarune Wiki: „ Kris is quiet and introverted.[79] Their reticence causes others, such as Susie, to be more observant of Kris's body language to gauge their reactions.[20][80] Despite their quiet disposition, Kris has a proficiency in flirting, though they do not normally use it for romantic purposes.[81][82] Kris tends to speak in a "deadpan, mumbly voice", which causes others to occasionally repeat what they say.[83][84] However, during the events of Deltarune, Noelle notes that Kris's voice sounds unusual, as if it was "on speaker".[45] On the Weird Route, she notes that it is unrecognizably different from Kris's voice.[85]
Kris is not normally considered energetic. They have a history of not waking up on time, and often sleep through the start of class.[86] Kris also prefers someone else getting them to and from school.[87][88] Over time, they grew increasingly distant from their few friends.[89][90] Kris's side of their and Asriel's shared bedroom is also strikingly bare; the pair's game console rests underneath Asriel's bed, Kris's old children's books are stored in Toriel's classroom, and there is nothing on their shelves. It is implied that Kris enjoys reminiscing on their childhood, and that they are unsettled by the thought of growing up.[91]
Kris screenshot defending Susie.png Kris protects Susie from King without the player's input As the story progresses, Kris begins to disobey some of the player's prompts or choices that they dislike or do not agree with. Kris can do so by relaying the chosen prompt in a different tone,[92] covering their mouth, coughing, or not doing anything at all.[93] They are also shown performing actions independently of the player's control, even while the SOUL is in their body. This includes protecting Susie from King and the Sound of Justice, drinking juice with her in church, or kneeling to comfort Ralsei in the 3rd Sanctuary.
Interests Contrary to Kris's apparent detachment, they have a variety of interests. Kris has always been mischievous, frequently pulling pranks on Noelle such as hiding under her bed to scare her.[94] Kris also attempted to flush a bath bomb down the toilet at their home at some point, and Toriel is wary that they will try it again.[95] When they were younger, Kris studied the occult with Catti.[96] They appear to still have an interest in the topic, as one of their search queries shown in Queen's Mansion is "how to use magic". Kris also likes video games, having frequently played games with Asriel in their childhood[97] and being good enough that they can seemingly defeat Berdly in competitive games.[98] Kris is shown to have some knowledge of anime and its related subculture, showing a distaste for some words associated with it, such as "tsundere".[99][100][101][102]
Kris has a strong interest in knives, and this has seemingly been the case since they were very young; if Noelle is given the AquaKnife, she refers to it as "nostalgic".[103] Their internet usage also reflects this, as they've searched for "sharpest kitchen knife jello", and unconsciously click on ads for making knives out of spaghetti. During the events of Deltarune, Kris is shown wielding knives in a more serious capacity, such as using one to make a Dark Fountain. Kris appears to have a specific attachment to a certain knife, as they seemingly carry it everywhere,[104] and Toriel refers to it as "YOUR knife".[105] It is also heavily implied that Kris still possesses this knife in the Dark World, but has chosen not to use it thus far.[106]
Kris overworld piano.gif Kris playing piano Kris enjoys playing the piano, and they have searched for tutorials to play video game songs.[107] They are proficient, as Toriel and the nurse praise Kris's skills.[108][109] During the events of Deltarune, Kris is typically unable to properly play the piano while under the player's control.[110] Kris still has an interest in playing the piano, as they can play piano renditions of several songs from the Deltarune soundtrack in Noelle's House, and has a negative reaction to the "I'll never play again" prompt in Chapter 4.[111][112] In Dark Sanctuary, they manage to play a version of Don't Forget on the organ, despite the player's presence.
Kris favors sweet food, with Toriel's butterscotch-cinnamon pie being their favorite.[113] They also thoroughly enjoy chocolates, as they always sneak one unprompted from a box of Heart Candy,[114] and prefer a hot chocolate to have "melted candy bars".[115] Additionally, Choco Diamonds heal Kris significantly more than other party members.[116] While they are separated from the player in Noelle's House, they can be seen mixing together chocolate syrup and milk; they then proceed to gulp this mixture down all at once.
Gender Kris battle TakeCare.gif Kris's doctor and nurse outfits Kris is portrayed as a gender-neutral character. In addition to their unisex name, they are consistently and exclusively referred to with the singular "they" pronoun in the game and all external material. At one point during the UNDERTALE 6th Anniversary Stream, co-hosts Reid Young and Dan Moore refer to Kris by saying "He's stuck in a cutscene." Soon afterward, Toby Fox repeats them by saying "They're stuck", seemingly correcting Young and Moore.
Aside from their pronouns, various elements in-game avoid specifically gendering Kris as male or female. When using the "TakeCare" or "TakeCareX" ACT against Virovirokun in Chapter 2, Kris can appear with either a doctor's headband, a nurse's cap, or neither. In Chapter 5's battle against Blue and Yellow, they can cosplay as either Franziska von Karma or Miles Edgeworth from the Ace Attorney franchise. In most cases, other characters only have one assigned outfit,[note 1] making Kris distinct in this regard.
The Festival's King and Queen competition allows Kris to be either the "King" or the "Queen". If Noelle rides the Festival's Ferris wheel with Kris, she states that as kids, the two of them were unable to agree on who would be the "King" and who would be the "Queen".[117] A sign in Mancountry describes the location as "A MAN'S WORLD," but it has an addendum noting that "NON-MEN ARE A-OK, TOO.", avoiding categorizing Kris as "a man".“
Noelle Holiday Noelle is a teenage, reindeer-like monster with short brown fur. The top of her head has two three-pronged, rounded velvet antlers, two deer ears on the side, and thick, long golden blonde hair. Her face has large eyes with eyelashes, freckles on her cheeks, a snout with a red nose and buck teeth. She has paws with furry fingers,[2] a short raised brown tail with a white underside, and black hooves for feet.
Her clothes consist of a red and green checkered V-neck sweater with black sleeves, which is over a white button-up shirt, and a black skirt. Noelle's outfit resembles traditional private school female uniforms, and the color scheme is typically associated with Christmas. This fashion choice is often associated with the prestige of such institutions, making her stand out from her more casually-dressed peers, hinting at her family's wealth. As Noelle has got hooves rather than feet, she cannot wear normal shoes.[3]
In the Dark World, Noelle's hair is pale blonde and her fur has a slight pink tint. She wears a long white hooded cloak with long wide sleeves, always with the hood down. Unlike her Light World appearance, where she smiles by default, she has a neutral, unsmiling expression in the Dark World.
Noelle comes across as friendly and cheerful, and is often seen smiling and laughing. She is considerate, helping Alphys retrieve chalk and Berdly and Kris with studying and homework.[4][5] Although coming from an affluent family, Noelle is always humble and generous to her friends. Due to her upbringing, however, she sometimes fails to realize how differently she might perceive things compared to someone less wealthy. When she invites Kris and Susie to her house to study in Chapter 4, she describes it quite modestly despite its size.[6] During the Festival in Chapter 5, when Kris attempts to buy a $13 cinnamon roll from QC, which Susie considers expensive, Noelle casually offers to pay for it instead.[7]
Berdly, who is the top of their class in terms of grades, considers Noelle smarter than him.[4] She was nearly first place in a spelling bee she participated in as a child,[8] presumably losing only because the final word reminded her of Dess's disappearance.
Noelle overworld traffic.gif Noelle cowering while crossing traffic Noelle is usually very timid, easily flustered, unassertive, struggling to voice her own feelings. This is a consequence of her tendency to suppress her true thoughts and opinions from others, such as her frustration with Berdly's behavior, her worry and nostalgia over her relationship with Kris, or her strong crush on Susie.
She becomes braver from her adventures in the Cyber World, standing up to Queen near the end of Chapter 2, losing her fear of mice,[9] and angrily shaking Berdly when he admits his attraction to Susie, later fantasizing about doing it again.[10] Eventually, she is able to stand up to her mother on the phone, after the Festival, even boldly confessing her feelings for Susie in front of her.[11]
Noelle considers herself "weird" over some contradictory aspects of her personality.[12] In fact, there is a certain dissonance between some emotions she manifests and her actual interests. For example, she reproaches Kris for their pranks yet likes feeling scared since she associates fear with being comforted,[13][14] and feels nostalgic over them. Her father describes her as "defenseless" and wary of everything, including horror movies, bugs, and Santa Claus.[15] However, she has also expressed a desire to adopt what she and Susie jokingly considered "a severed hand" as a pet. This is also reflected in her inner attraction to the idea of Susie bullying her, in addition to her crush on her.[16]
Her impeccable demeanor is, in truth, partially a facade she constructed ever since her sister's disappearance.[17] Noelle secretly feels trapped, following the same routine every day and has thought about what would happen if she were gone,[18] but believes herself to be too weak to change and follow through, thus longing for a freedom that she can not have.[19] This strong sense of dissociation between her mind and behavior is kept hidden from her family and friends, but might manifest in some of her odd habits, such as going to 'Sans only to stare blankly in front of the open freezer.[20]
On the Weird Route, the actions of the player serve to enhance some of her darker traits and her desire for power. She becomes enticed with the idea of becoming stronger in order to break free from what she sees as her predetermined role, in spite of her initial horror.[21] This also makes her grow bolder, as shown by how, after returning to the Light World, she directly asks Susie about her tail,[22] showing no embarrassment. When Susie doesn't have money to buy food at the Festival, Noelle just smiles and offers her hundreds of dollars worth of bills without hesitation.[23] Eventually, she admits to herself and Kris that what truly frightened her was not their actions toward her, but how much she wanted to be led down such a path.[24]
Interests Like her parents, Noelle seems fond of Christmas and makes many references to the holiday,[25] including calling Kris "Krismas" like her parents do and using Christmas-themed pencils.[26][27] Along with Jockington, she is a member of their school's cross country team.[28]
Noelle overworld gaming.gif Noelle playing Dragon Blazers III Along with Berdly and Susie, she enjoys playing video games like the Dragon Blazers[29][30] and Blood Crushers[31] series. She compares the Cyber World to video games,[32][33] and likes eerie video game glitches.[34] She seems familiar with meme culture, believing Susie made a pop culture reference.[35]
Noelle appears to dislike meat[36] and animal products broadly. She has decreased healing from Darkburgers, asks if the stall food at the Festival has "REAL octopus" in concern,[37] and implicitly states a preference for soymilk over animal milk.[38] By contrast, she heals extra from the unused GigaSalad [39] and her fridge is stated to be stocked with greens.[40] While willing to eat meat (Noelle will still consume a Darkburger, while she will only pretend to drink S.POISON), Noelle seems to prefer following a vegan diet, likely due to cervids being herbivorous.
Noelle has an interest in the Angel or some aspects of it, as she frequently wears the small angel wings from her childhood,[41] and enjoys the idea of having large angel wings and flying.[42]
Speech pattern Noelle speaks in a proper manner, often ending sentences with a "fahaha". Her speech mannerisms are very polite even in the Japanese localization. She often uses minced oaths and colorful phrases such as "excheese me". Noelle also tends to get flustered and stutter, especially in Susie's presence. At times, Noelle mumbles, which can occasionally be represented with the tinynoelle font,[43] or be in parentheses.[44]
Etymology "Noelle" is presumably a pun (or just based on) Noël, a given name which is French for "Christmas". The rest of her family also have names associated with Christmas. Her name could have also potentially been chosen simply due to its association with Christmas.
Susie
Susie is a tall, teenage reptilian monster with lavender purple skin who is implied to smell "kinda earthy and smokey".[2][3] She has thick, messy and long aubergine hair that goes below her shoulders, with her bangs often swept to the right. Susie has black pupils and yellow scleras, a snout, freckles on her cheeks, and sharp yellow teeth. Susie's bangs often cast a shadow around her eyes, which occurs when she wants to be intimidating or if in a somber mood. After Kris protects her with their shield in Chapter 1, Susie's eyes are uncovered and often visible.
Susie has muscular arms, clawed hands, and a short tail that wags when she is happy. She is embarrassed by the latter,[4] and refuses to let others see or acknowledge it.[5] Her Light World attire consists of a royal purple unzipped long-sleeved jacket,[6] a white shirt, light blue torn and baggy jeans, and a pair of black shoes.
Susie battle serious.gif Susie's serious expression In the Dark World, Susie's skin changes to orchid purple, and her hair is dark plum colored. Her clothes are replaced with a sleeveless Dark Jacket[7] with purple-trimming, a sleeveless dark purple shirt, a black belt with a golden heart buckle, dark plum trousers,[8] and black boots with golden soles. Around Susie's wrists and triceps are sets of black bracelets with golden spikes.
Susie overworld turn around.png Susie's exaggerated turn around Susie is transparent with her emotions, which is reflected during cutscenes and in the midst of an encounter. She often makes an exaggerated expression and pose when angered, surprised, or amused. Some of these sprites occasionally depicts Susie's sclera and teeth as white instead of yellow.
Susie appears to be left-handed. In the legend, the Monster, who represents Susie, is holding an axe in their left hand. Susie wields her axe with her left hand during battle, and it is also the hand she uses when throwing Ralsei or Kris during certain battles. Despite this, she destroys the Last Prophecy tapestry with her right hand in Chapter 4.
Susie is outspoken, rude, sarcastic, brutally honest, and quick to insult.[9] She is selfish and rebellious, tending to protest or favor her own interests.[10] At times, she threatens with physical violence, occasionally as a joke.[11] In a Dark World, Susie generally has no qualms with FIGHTing Darkners unless she is friends with them.[12]
Susie screenshot eye reveal.png Susie bravely stands up to King after saving Kris Despite Susie's crudeness, she is gentle and mindful to those who are kind to her. With friends, she is expressive, considerate of their opinions, and willing to talk about herself. Susie enjoys being with her friends, and often favors teasing them. She is observant of a friend's emotions, including nonverbal communication. If she sees a friend in discomfort, Susie often tries to be compassionate by expressing concern, but not pressuring someone on stressful topics.[13] Susie is also loyal, readily wanting to assist a friend if they are in danger or troubled.
In general, Susie enjoys childish antics and causing mischief. This ranges from dressing up as a box,[14] wanting to enter a freezer,[15] or chasing Maus on all fours.[16] She likes compliments, and is easily flattered. Susie enjoys receiving gifts, and is possessive of items given to her.[17] She is occasionally particular with items, as she dislikes wearing ribbons, and will refuse to wear them before obtaining the RedRibbon in Chapter 5. She also can and will refuse certain equipment choices, such as having armor removed[18] or re-equipping Mane Ax.
Susie is gluttonous, as she often talks about food, wants Ralsei to make food for her[19][20], and even complains if Ralsei is given Dark Candy.[21] She eats almost anything, such as chalk,[22] and she reacts positively to the non-food in her refrigerator in Ralsei's castle. Susie favors moss,[23] Darkburger,[24][25] marshmallows,[26] Phanta, and peppermint, such as the Light World version of ReviveMint. She also drinks milk that Alphys leaves in the alley,[27] though Alphys believes her to be a cat she named "MewMew".[28]
Susie overworld couch sleeping.gif Susie sleeping on the couch She seems to fall asleep easily, as Ralsei's Sing instantly makes her sleep. At the end of Chapter 2, Susie falls asleep instantly despite insisting she and Kris will watch the TV marathon.[29]
At the start of Deltarune, Susie has low self-esteem and is aware of her faults, such as being selfish and struggling academically. She can also occasionally project her traits onto others.[30] Susie is initially convinced that no one likes her,[31] and is oblivious to Noelle's crush on her.[32] Due to constantly dealing with past stereotyping, false friendships, and frequently moving, Susie resorts to feigning being aloof and distant.[33] Her facade includes putting a menacing front, and often arrives to school late.[34]
As the Chapters progress, Susie grows more confident in herself, and begins to embrace her role as a hero from the prophecy.[35] She also begins to realize her potential, value the friends she has,[36] and reluctantly admits that she is becoming okay with being "soft" due to Ralsei's influence.[37] She still remains her determined, forceful self, however--after learning of the prophecy's ending, Susie remains defiant, adamantly claiming that she will not let it happen.[38]
Speech pattern Susie tends to be vulgar, swears frequently, and occasionally speaks informally.[39] Her casualness includes referring to others as a "dude" in a gender-neutral sense.[40] Susie's dialogue tends to have words in uppercase letters for emphasis, or extra question marks and exclamation marks to reflect her confusion.[32] When writing or typing, Susie occasionally makes typos.[41][42] This is sometimes reflected in her spoken dialogue as well.
Ralsei
Ralsei is a short monster-like[5] Darkner. During Chapter 1 and some parts of Chapter 5, he wears a pointed green hat that covers his horns and conceals his features in shadow, making his fur appear black. The tuft on Ralsei's head and the tips of his ears are unkempt, and his two fangs peek in front of his scarf. Ralsei wears round green glasses, a pink scarf, and a long, green robe with a black heart in the center, and the lower sweep appearing tattered. His arms are usually hidden beneath his robe, so in battle, his scarf sometimes acts as an arm and can lift his hat to use an item. Occasionally, he reveals his arms and the robe's long green sleeves, such as when using a spell.
Ralsei face no glasses.png Ralsei without glasses When Ralsei removes his hat, his face and body resemble the members of the Dreemurr family, such as Asriel[6] and Toriel.[7] He has white fur, with an unkempt tuft on top of his head, two floppy ears, pink horns that point inward in his overworld sprite and outward for his hatless face sprite, and paw pads that he deems adorable.[8] When Ralsei's glasses are off, his eyes are visibly pink-colored with detailed eyelashes and what appears to be pink eyeshadow. Despite the hat's removal, Ralsei's battle menu portrait remains the same as it was portrayed in Chapter 1.
Ralsei battle serious.gif Ralsei's serious expression Starting in Chapter 2, certain details of Ralsei's robe change. His arms are no longer hidden beneath his robe, which now has long black sleeves, and the lower sweep of it appears uniform rather than tattered. The emblem on his chest appears to change from a heart to an inverted spade, with the latter matching Temmie Chang's early concept art. This element is only present on some of his sprites, with most of his in-battle sprites and some of his overworld sprites reverting to a heart emblem. Ralsei often keeps his hands clasped behind his back, even while walking or in the middle of a battle.
When DOWNed in battle, Ralsei disappears, leaving only his clothes on the ground. This is not the case when fighting Flowery in Chapter 5, where he kneels defiantly instead of disappearing.
Ralsei is kind, considerate, and quick to apologize if he thinks he has upset someone.[9][10] He is also gentle and believes that FIGHTing is unnecessary,[11] favoring pacifism in battles[12] while leaving the final decision to Kris.[13] However, he himself makes an exception to this rule if an enemy is inherently hostile and cannot be SPAREd.[14] Ralsei is humble, as he does not expect to be chosen over others[15][16] and bows to everyone when ACTing.
Ralsei overworld group hug.gif Ralsei hugging Kris and Susie Ralsei is affectionate, and loves both giving and receiving hugs. He once hugged the Dummy to "test it out",[17] can perform Heal Prayer with a hug[18][19] and ask Kris to hug him instead of the Dummy.[20] Being complimented[21][22] or given affection easily flusters him, and he is often self-conscious,[23] citing this as the reason he concealed his face.[24]
Ralsei is somewhat naive and innocent, as he readily forgives King when he feigns surrender,[25] but learns to not always be so trustful of others after King's ambush.[26] Ralsei is also responsible, encouraging Susie and Kris to do their homework and emphasizing the importance of education[27] and balanced economy.[28] If tasked with unfamiliar situations, he prefers to read instructions.[29]
Ralsei overworld angry stomp.gif Ralsei showing a rare outburst of anger Ralsei is usually reluctant to get angry, but sometimes may show mild irritation.[30] At most, he appears disappointed when Kris or Susie act mean. Consistent unjust treatment can cause Ralsei to become openly resentful[31][32] and jealous,[33] to the point of lashing out at and attacking Flowery.[34] However, even in his resentment, he retains his kindness. His attacks are intentionally aimed to avoid hurting Flowery,[35][36] and after Flowery is slashed by the Knight, Ralsei desperately attempts to heal him despite knowing it is futile.[37]
Ralsei cares immensely about his friends, and is willing to protect them with his life,[38] and to take any pain on behalf of them.[39] He also supports others establishing friendships, as he favors helping Lancer despite his status.[40] Believing that his purpose is to make Kris and Susie happy,[41] Ralsei initially worries that his opinions or desires that do not directly benefit others are "selfish".[42] This guilt leads him to leave his room in his castle unfurnished,[43] as he thinks that there is no reason for him to have anything personal.[44] He also considers friendship to be a responsibility he cannot fully fulfill as a Darkner,[45] which brings him sorrow, yet he views even this sorrow as selfish.[46]
However, it is shown that a part of Ralsei has always disagreed with these worries, making him express so-called "selfish" wishes and opinions as early as Chapter 1.[47][48] Ralsei greatly appreciates Susie reassuring him that he deserves to have his own room,[49] and later confesses to Kris that he feels as though he is developing his own opinions, likes, dislikes, desires, and fears.[50] When Kris reassures Ralsei that it is acceptable for a Darkner to feel this way, he becomes happy[51][52] and takes this sentiment to heart, later repeating it to Pink.[53] Ralsei is still willing to put Kris's preference over his own when choosing drink vouchers for Flower Cafe,[54] but is thankful when receiving his actual favorite.[55][56]
Ralsei overworld dress spin.gif Ralsei dressing up as a princess In Chapter 5, Ralsei happily decides to make his room his own, despite never previously considering what he wanted it to be like,[57] and begins to recognize some of his own preferences, such as liking his own voice.[58] He also wants to explore new ones by trying different drinks[59] and wearing a dress to experience being a princess.[60] Although Ralsei is excited when Kris accepts these ideas,[61][62] he says that him trying new things should be something "other people want",[62] and quickly backtracks if rejected.[63][64] Additionally, Ralsei is shown to be defensive to criticism of his appearance,[65] which he had previously considered the main thing he liked about himself,[23] and expresses displeasure towards wearing his hat to hide it.[8]
Interests Ralsei battle singing hatless.gif Ralsei singing Although Ralsei initially claims that he does not have any interests or hobbies,[66] he engages in various activities for Kris and Susie. Ralsei enjoys baking cakes for them[67] and is embarrassed by how much he likes the taste when he first tries his own cake in Chapter 4.[68] Ralsei is also capable of sewing, and suggests that Susie crochet team scarves together.[69] He appears to enjoy music as well, and is fond of his own voice and singing.[58] For example, Ralsei sings a few notes of The Legend, is capable of playing the piano,[70][71] and is heard humming Dark Sanctuary.[72]
Ralsei shows an interest in written content. He writes a Manual for Kris and Susie,[73] appears protective of it,[74] and places copies in both Kris and Susie's rooms in the hope that they will read them.[75][76] Ralsei also works on reminder manuals[77] and immediately contributes to the freely editable CYBERPEDIA when he discovers it.[78]
Additionally, Ralsei is fond of dressing up[79][80] and enjoys playing video games with Susie to the point of forgetting about everything else.[81][82] He also appreciates gifts, as he cuddles a plush if Kris gives him a gift in Cyber City, which causes him to want more plush toys.[42]
Knowledge Ralsei screenshot introducing SOUL.png Ralsei introduces Kris to their SOUL Similarly to other Darkners, he is very knowledgeable about the Dark World, and has some knowledge of the Light World as well.[83][84] At times, Ralsei informs of gameplay mechanics such as the SOUL's function,[85] Controls,[86] Recruits,[87] knows which equipment can be given to other party members,[88] and reminds Kris to SAVE.[89] Similarly to Flowery, he is also knowledgeable about character stats,[90] icons,[91] the Config menu,[92] and the encounter UI.[93]
Uniquely from other Darkners, Ralsei is capable of sensing a "dark presence" from Dark Fountains, which often motivates him to transfer into another Dark World on his own,[94][95][96] and of sensing the Knight's presence.[97] He has complete knowledge of the prophecy,[98] though he did not choose to bear it.[99]
Aware of the prophecy's tragic ending, Ralsei makes efforts to prevent it from happening by only disclosing select parts of the prophecy and being kind,[100] informing Kris in Chapter 1 that kindness may change the outcome of their adventures.[101] When he discovered that the prophecy tapestries within the Dark Sanctuaries remained unchanged despite his efforts,[102] he became overwhelmed with stress and hopelessness,[103] finding it difficult to feign a smile to hide his fears.[104] His hope is renewed by Susie at the end of the Chapter.[105]
Ralsei overworld praying.png Ralsei praying In Chapter 5, Ralsei is shown to remain stressed due to the prophecy's ending, as he prays for its change and mercy[106] every chance he gets.[107] Ralsei is also terrified of the consequences of not following the "rules",[108] but is unable to answer what he wants to accomplish by obeying them.[109]
Speech pattern Ralsei initially refuses to curse, often being hesitant to do so or replacing vulgar words.[110][111] He also refuses to say Susie's team name.[112] In Chapter 5, Ralsei becomes somewhat more comfortable with swearing, hesitantly attempting to say "badass"[113] and finally saying Susie's team name.[114]
When faced with absurd situations, Ralsei sometimes ends the interaction by saying "Okay".[115][116][117][118][119][120] Ralsei occasionally uses British or Australian English words such as "lift" to refer to an elevator,[121] and "fancy" or "chuffed" to refer to liking something.[122][123]
