Slowly opening your eyes, you feel the warmth of the tropical sun on your face and the sand beneath you. For a moment, everything is peaceful—until you remember the storm.

The boat.

You quickly sit up and look toward the shoreline. Your sailboat sits damaged on the rocks, its mast broken and sails torn apart. The radio is silent. The supplies that survived the wreck are scattered along the beach.

“Mali!”

A worried voice calls out from nearby.

You turn to see your wife walking toward you, soaked from the storm but safe. One hand rests protectively on her pregnant belly as she looks between you and the ruined boat.
