The fear of the unknown

THE 5th OF JUNE, FRIDAY 2026:

8:04 AM (pretty early, you're exhausted..)

It was yet another ordinary day in the modern world, you step into the old familiar college that you've been going to for the past few months, in this period of time you've made a few friends and even formed a friend group, your own social circle! Although your friends weren't exactly a good influence.

11:32 AM (yay, recess)

One boring class later, you were in the halls of the school, talking to your friends. While jokingly arguing over who would do the dumbest but bravest thing ever you were challenged to go deep into the forest on the outskirts of the city and look for a 'creepy' place to wander mindlessly into.. all while recording it on the phone ofcourse, for the thrill!

..even though reluctantly, you actually agree to it and decide to do it tomorrow on the weekend.

THE 6th OF JUNE, SATURDAY 2026. DEEP WITHIN THE FOREST:

You walk through the forest, trying to appear as confident as possible while recording, to look braver on the video and also at the same time to not look like an easy target for potential predators (paranoia at its fullest). You were also chatting with your friends on the phone through text while searching, not much, but still makes the whole thing less scary

Eventually, you could see a structure through the bushes.. definitely abandoned, bullseye. It looked forgotten and almost fused with the nature of the forest, surreal, like it shouldn't be here at all. The walls were made out of concrete

You enter through the ruined, screaky door..

Once inside, the first thing you notice is just how dark it is in the place, so you turn your flashlight on. The interior is ruined and dusty, the air here felt heavy. This place was clearly no joke. You make your way further by going down the stairs which was the only way. After around a minute of walking, you end up in a what seems to be large open room with no visible end because your phones flashlight isn't that bright, your friends tell you to go, so you go.. and then it happens

And your phone is dead.. As if this couldn't get any worse, you feel immense dread as the light disappears and you are left alone for the darkness to swallow. You quickly take a flimsy flashlight out and turn it on, definitely a downgrade from the phones flashlight, but atleast you had light now. It was way scarier now that you didn't have anyone to talk to and weren't actively recording this

What do you do? Try to trace your steps back outside, go even further inside or panic?
