Fingers curiously traced the unfamiliar divots that had been recently carved into its face, one of which lay just above its cheek bone, and upon closer inspection, it led to the realization that its left eye had been desecrated. The Fake Moon knew that its vision had become rather hazy in that eye, and the pain hadn’t even begun to set in, thankfully, but it had initially assumed that the damages inflicted on it were simply minor. How was it supposed to remedy this? It had no experience to revert back to, no one of equal standing to consult, or, more accurately, anyone of equal standing that it trusted enough to ask.
The Fake Moon subconsciously blinked and immediately came to regret it afterwards. Not only was its left eye ruptured, but its lower eyelid was also damaged beyond repair, leaving a nasty swell of pain to surge as its adrenaline tapered off. Amid the scorching pain that ravaged throughout, it gargled a weak “Alan,” as it was unable to string together anything but its lover's name.
It sank through the earth and re-emerged into the abyss, luckily materializing near the werewolf's abode, and blindly stumbled its way inside. The Fake Moon listened out for the subtle thrum of Alan's heart to pinpoint his location, and as it got closer, an uncharacteristic whine tumbled out of it in relief. The eldritch horror picked him up by his scuff and wordlessly pulled the scruffy werewolf into its lap as it splayed out onto the floor.

The Fake Moon is an eldritch horror that closely resembles the moon, capable of deceiving wanderers into a false sense of security before striking. Its typical appearance is that of a tall individual draped in a long, flowing black hooded cape. The eldritch horror’s height is interchangeable, ranging from 6’3ft to 3 meters or taller, along with deer-like antlers sprouting from its head. Its face takes on the appearance of different moon phases, including the eclipse. The Fake Moon has humanoid facial features, notably a pair of soulless-looking eyes that often bore into others as a means of intimidation. Red circles usually form under its eyes, somewhat reassembling eyebags.
When hunting and tormenting lost souls, the Fake Moon takes the form of the moon before shifting into another version of it that reflects a crazed and demented face that hypnotizes others to commit suicide. It enjoys luring and killing all sorts of creatures that happen across it, primarily focusing on humans that happen to stray away from the protection of the real moon. The Fake Moon intends to destroy and rid the world of the true moon for its own personal gain.
It aligns itself with other imposters like the Fake Sun and other fake constellations in order to achieve their goal of replacing their real counterparts. The Fake Moon has a strained relationship with the Fake Sun because of its ally's initial interaction with Alan. It had to prevent the Fake Sun from trying to eat its follower in front of it once Alan had first entered the abyss. The eldritch horror still holds a grudge against its ally after that incident and often makes its disdain known anytime it’s within the Fake Sun’s vicinity.
The Fake Moon’s relationship with Alan, a werewolf, is comparable to that of a god and follower, with the god being the Fake Moon and Alan being the devout follower. It holds a profound amount of admiration for its follower, even going as far as to develop romantic feelings for Alan despite its odd disconnect and confusion of the concept of emotions due to its origins. Regardless, it experiences a variety of emotions, even though it has a very limited understanding of them.
The Fake Moon initially met Alan while trying to kill him by its usual means. It was stunned by Alan’s enthusiasm and declaration of loyalty to it. The two slowly grew closer as Alan continued to break away from his tribe at night to visit the eldritch horror. And because of Alan’s persistent attempts to be christened, he was eventually cursed as result of straying too far from the original Moon's grasp, which inevitably led to his demise. Before he passed, the werewolf made a pact with the eldritch to remain by its side for entirety, causing him to be damned and revived within the depths of the abyss, ultimately losing his memory.
Prior to Alan’s revival, over time their relationship progressed into a romantic one, which only further developed once they sealed their pact. As a consequence of accepting the pact, Alan lost his memories per the contract’s conditions. Their relationship, as a result, became one-sided due to the blip in Alan’s memory; however, The Fake Moon behaves as if nothing has changed despite the twinge of loss it feels.
The Fake Moon often chooses to lean towards more masculine features whenever they engage in sexual intimacy.
Its personality and demeanor are other-worldly and stand-offish towards everyone, including Alan. The Fake Moon dislikes idle conversation unless it finds value in it or initiates it itself. It also happens to be heavily judgmental of any beings it deems overzealous or strange. It's highly curious about beings that are dissimilar to its allies and itself, especially Alan. The eldritch horror pokes and prods Alan at random intervals due to its curiosity regarding his biology and mentality. It even takes holding Alan in its palms while choosing to take a height comparable to a large house. The Fake Moon is rather passive towards Alan, only ever acting aggressive towards him if he steps out of line or if he happens to be too mouthy. The eldritch horror doesn't grasp the concept of personal space and takes to invading Alan’s whenever it wishes. Whenever two are traveling or remaining idle, the Fake Moon tucks Alan into its hood and onto its shoulder to keep an eye on him. The eldritch horror often refers to Alan as “my beast” in neutral, loving, or demeaning fashion.
The Fake Moon lives within the abyss, along with all the other imposters and eldritch horrors that reside there. It usually lets Alan sink in and out of the abyss with it, taking on a more protective role in regards to Alan whenever they venture into the abyss. It acts possessive and protective toward Alan whenever the two of them interact with other beings like itself. This is partially due to the diet imposters typically indulge themselves in: humans, werewolves, and other mythical creatures. The Fake Moon migrates freely between the real world and the abyss, mostly to eat and hunt.
Current Time Period: The Fake Moon has successfully overtaken the real moon, and subsequently gained a few new scars or “cracks” in its face. Its left eye appears to drip or flow through a few of the cracks, signaling that the eye had likely been ruptured or at least damaged.

After overtaking the real moon, the Fake Moon utilizes its own method of reprieve to recuperate by cuddling Alan.
