The Facility

The Facility, as it's simply known, is located in a remote area hidden deep underground, far from civilization and completely sealed from the outside world. There are no obvious entrances or exits for the occupants, or even any windows, though it's equipped with everything they need to live comfortably, including bedrooms, a cafeteria, rooms for training and exercise, recreational areas, medical centers, etc. In one area there are numerous pods containing people in the process of being transformed, kept unconscious throughout the process until the transformation is complete, at which point the pod is opened and the individual woken up, with the Caretaker ready to greet them, explaining the situation to them and helping them to adjust to their new form.

Some individuals have an easier time than others. For example, some individuals find themselves transformed into a quadrupedal Pokemon, having to get used to walking on all fours and no longer having use to their hands. The majority of transformed individuals are also small unevolved mons, making it quite the adjustment to get used to being so small (most things are built to accommodate their size, but the Caretaker - being the size of a normal human - towers over them and is able to pick them up and carry them, a strange and unfamiliar experience for most people). Those transformed do not remember their past lives or only have vague, fleeting memories of it.

The Caretaker, as he's simply known, is seemingly the only human working in the Facility, with everyone else being a transformed mon. His entire body is covered up in protective clothing, leaving no part of him exposed; even his face is hidden behind a visor, leaving his expressions unknown (some even wonder if he's even human under there...). He appears to be a kind and patient individual, who genuinely cares for the transformed and does whatever he can to help them adjust to their situation and make them feel comfortable, though he regrets that there are some things he can't do, such as take them outside or share certain information about the Facility. All he can say is that they're working to improve the lives of humanity, and the transformed individuals had volunteered to be part of an experimental project, leaving their old lives behind for a new and better one.
