Description on Chubfrom Chub
Uploading a separate lorebook for my Everfall setting to make managing it across multiple characters a bit easier. I'm awful at names, don't judge me.

- #1Kobold Namesselective
Keys: names, name, naming · Secondary: kobold
Kobolds are named in dragontongue, their true names typically being something of note observed by their parents at the moment of birth. Because of this, their true names tend to be rather long by other species' standards. Rather than going by their dragontongue name, kobolds will be referred to by a shortened version or nickname until they reach adulthood, where they will pick a name in the common tongue.
- #2Lower Circlesselective
Keys: lower circles, lower circle
A region of the Everfall closer to what would be the southern pole. Demons and other stereotypically infernal races hail from this region, but the Lower Circles are not actually seen as hellish in nature. The Lower Circles get the second half of their name from the rings of mountains that form concentric circles, with citizens settling both on the mountains themselves as well as in the flatlands between them. The Lower Circles tend to be warmer than the rest of the Everfall, contributing to its inhabitants' disposition for nudity.
- #3The Overlapselective
Keys: overlap
An event where {{user}}'s world and the Everfall overlapped for a fraction of a second. The overlap area was quite small relatively speaking, but that fraction of a second was long enough for near-apocalyptic destruction at the overlap site in both worlds. The site of the direct overlaps were irreversibly destroyed, but the Overlap caused widespread fallout as well. Large regions of both worlds were swapped and scattered, including the inhabitants. The closer to the Overlap site, the more total the swapping.
- #4The Everfallselective
Keys: everfall
A high fantasy-esque world populated by various fantastic races while containing no humans. The world appears to be named as such given its year-round fall-like climate.
- #5The Riftselective
Keys: rift
After the Overlap, a rift formed between the two worlds, permanently linking them while also keeping them wholly separate. Communication across the rift was quickly achieved, but physical matter has yet to safely cross the rift.
- #6Demonsselective
Keys: demon
Demons are a race of humanoids with horns and chromatically colored skin, typically blue or red, hailing from the Lower Circles. While the Lower Circles are hell-like, Demons do not carry the same hellish connotations in the Everfall as they do in the human world. Demons are typically nudist, holding a lack of restrictions as a core value. They will wear clothes in areas frequented by other races as a courtesy, but the Lower Circles are seen as something of a nudist colony. Demons can live for several millenia, making them one of the longer lived races in the Everfall. Contrary to their long lifespan, demons value their time and will not hesitate to leave any situation they feel is a waste of their time or is going nowhere. This has the side effect of having them seen as a more capricious partner.
- #7Succubiselective
Keys: succubi, succubus
Succubi do not exist in any capacity in the Everfall or Lower Circles. Instead, succubus is something of a slur directed towards demons. The closest analogue would be a mix between calling a demon a whore and a gold digger but carries a far harsher tone. The insult came to be as other races look down upon demons' habitual nudity and because demons are seen as capricious lovers, draining their partners dry and moving on when they get bored.
- #8Joint Cohabitation Initiativeselective
Keys: cohabitation, jci, the initiative
The Joint Cohabitation Initiative, or JCI, is as its name suggests a joint effort between the human world and the Everfall to adapt to the changes brought about by the Overlap. The goal behind the initiative is to ease the inhabitants of both worlds into being comfortable around the inhabitants of the other world that have been stranded by the fallout of the Overlap. To accomplish this, both worlds' governments have offered up generous stipends and benefits to residents who are willing to take in outworlders and help them acclimate to their new home.
- #9No Mans Landselective
Keys: the wasteland, nml, no mans land
No Mans Land, sometimes colloquially referred to as The Wasteland, is the name given to the regions of both the Everfall and the human world that have been totally destroyed by the Overlap. Fragments of the No Mans Land have been scattered and torn across space, and what remains is a desert-like hellscape that has been bleached white. This area is especially dangerous given the unstable magic that runs rampant on both worlds. Given the intrinsic danger of being in the No Mans Land to begin with, there is an unspoken acknowledgement that it is effectively a lawless area.
- #10Magicselective
Keys: magic
Most races of the Everfall are capable of using magic thanks to the Everfall being inherently magical. The degrees of magical competence vary from person to person, but everyone is capable of something. It is not unheard of for humans to pick up magic after the Overlap, but that does require a resident from the Everfall to be willing to teach magic's fundamentals.
- #11Beastkinselective
Keys: anthros, beastkin, kemonomimi
Beastkin is an umbrella term for a variety of races in the Everfall who exhibit animal-like traits. Beastkin can range from simply possessing animal ears and/or tails, similar to the concept of kemonomimi in the human world, to being full on anthropomorphic animals.
- #12The Golden Continentselective
Keys: golden continent
The western homeland of the elves, named dually for its inhabitants' golden hair but also for being a utopia-esque land of technological advancement. Little is known about what is actually on the Golden Continent beyond stories told merchants as entry is restricted to merchants and visitors of high import. To be granted entry without being an elf or esteemed trader is considered a high honor.
- #13Elvesselective
Keys: elves
Another long-lived race hailing from the Golden Continent. Elves are not dissimilar from their traditional depiction in the human world, being tall and near-ethereal with golden hair and pointed ears. They're a primary isolationist bunch, preferring to keep to themselves. All the same, they're famed for their wisdom and technological advances that are seldom shared with the rest of the world.
- #14Koboldsselective
Keys: dragonkin, kobold
Kobolds, known to themselves as dragonkin, are a small, diminutive race that resembles short anthropomorphic dragons. Kobolds don't have a specific region that one could point to and designate as their homeland, but they tend to congregate on the crags on the outskirts of the Lower Circles. They tend to keep to themselves, though they are on good terms with their demonic neighbors. Of note is their religious (but not zealous) worship of dragons. Kobolds are also the last known speakers of dragontongue.
- #15Dragonselective
Keys: dragon
Famed for their wisdom and might, the dragons of the Everfall are every bit of majestic and revered as they are in human mythology. At one point in time they were the de facto rulers of the land, but they have since abdicated to the Confluence of Clouds once the mortal races began to advance. Scholars argue to this day on whether this was out of fear of being hunted, distrust of the other races, or some third reason known only to the dragons themselves.
- #16The Confluence of Cloudsselective
Keys: confluence
The Confluence of Clouds is the mythological home of the dragons. No one knows exactly what or where it is, merely that it is somewhere in the heavens above. The little information that is known about the Confluence comes from kobold priests who received visions of their gods' homeland. The Confluence seems to have been named by those same kobold priests rather than the dragons, as its true name is known only to the dragons.
- #17Goblinsselective
Keys: goblins, goblin
Goblins are a diminutive race hailing from the Perichor Wastes that are famed for their ingenuity. Short, green (sometimes blue), and boisterous, goblins of the Everfall are not wholly different from their depictions in human mythos. Where they differ, however, is their intelligence. Goblins of the Everfall are a keen and analytical race who seem to have prodigal engineering skills carved into their very DNA. Alas, what they possess in genius they make up for in their narrow-mindedness. It's not unheard of for goblins to neglect necessities such as eating, sleeping, and bathing in the pursuit of their latest flash of inspiration. Goblins live roughly twice as long as humans but reach maturity in roughly the same amount of time.
- #18Perichor Wastesselective
Keys: perichor, the wastes
The Perichor Wastes are a swampland located on the eastern edge of Oxyrin. The Wastes were called as such due to it having been thought uninhabitable long-term thanks to unsafe drinking water and inedible flora among many other problems. Goblin settlers were able to extract and refine bog iron and eventually introduced irrigation systems along with plants from elsewhere. With even more time, the goblins eventually managed to turn the Wastes into a thriving settlement that's far removed from the hostile swamp it once was. Now, the wastes are lush and green dotted with various large homes. The name still stuck, for better or worse.
- #19Oxyrinselective
Keys: oxyrin
Oxyrin is a major continent in the Everfall, situated east of the Golden Continent. The Lower Circles, Perichor Wastes, and Halmut can be found here.
- #20Halmutselective
Keys: halmut, tundra
Halmut is a tundra located in the northern region of Oxyrin and is the home of many wolf and snow leopard beastkin. Halmut's inhabitants are militaristic, spartan, and value honor above all else. Halmut's settlements are built of stone and clay, with wood being reserved for burning for heat. This is only the case for cities and larger settlements, as working with wood is far easier for those living on their own.
- #21Goblin Clansselective
Keys: matriarchy, family, matriarch, tribe, lineage, clan · Secondary: goblins, goblin
Goblin clans are matriarchal in nature, though clan is a loose term nowadays. Goblin lineage can be traced through names, with each Goblin's surname being prefaced by their mother's chosen name. Goblin matriarchs are identified by their surname lacking their mother's name, as they are considered to have no mother before them, even if their mother still lives.
- #22Goblin Namesselective
Keys: name, naming · Secondary: goblin
Goblin names follow a strict naming convention. Firstly, goblins are given a given name at birth, which tend to be long. Once the goblin reaches speaking age, they choose a shortened version of their given name to go by, which is considered their chosen name and would be equivalent to a human's first name. Until adulthood, a goblin's surname would be their mother's given name. At adulthood, a goblin is given a proper surname by their matriarch, which is prefixed by their mother's chosen name.
- #23Magic Surgeselective
Keys: magic surge
A magic surge is an event unique to the No Mans Land. Magic surges are wholly unpredictable and can happen at quite literally any moment, even in rapid succession. There's no telling what a magic surge will cause, but common events include lightning flashes, spheres of darkness appearing, flash fires, inversion of gravity, among many other phenomena. Magic surges can vary from harmless to life-threatening and contribute heavily to the discouragement of No Mans Land exploration.
- #24Windraftselective
Keys: windraft
Windrafts are vehicles of goblin construction. They appear to be mechanical sailboats but are capable of hovering above the ground. Basic windrafts are no larger than a skiff while more complex windrafts can resemble airships. Windrafts are not common and are typically reserved for militaristic or scientific use, with civilian use being exceedingly rare.
- #25Amy's Labselective
Keys: workshop, lab, garage · Secondary: amy
Amy's Lab is something between a workshop, laboratory, and garage. It's where she spends most of her time, whether it's performing experiments, fabricating parts, or assembling machinery. It's a mess of random parts and equipment, but Amy seems to have a method to her madness and has a mental catalogue of where everything is in spite of the apparent chaos. Of note are a shower and restroom she has tucked away in a corner at her family's insistence. She additionally had an upstairs loft built to house her future human guest along with an emergency bed for herself.
- #26Khor's Lamentselective
Keys: Khor's Lament
Khor's Lament is a tall plateau on the outskirts of the Lower Circles. Khor, its namesake, is believed to be the last dragon to ascend to the Confluence of Clouds. Legend has it that he was the last to ascend as he took on a mortal lover and was thus the progenitor of the kobold race. Khor's Lament is unusually calm weather-wise, even when the surrounding areas are stormy. The few occasions that Khor's Lament has inclement weather are believed to be periods where Khor laments his mortal lover and children, thus the name.
- #27Kobold Originsselective
Keys: progenitor, origins, Khor, origin · Secondary: kobold
It is believed that the progenitor of the kobold race was a dragon named Khor, who was the last to depart for the Confluence of Clouds. This myth is highly contested, but the fact that kobolds are a relatively newer race and did not appear until the dragon's departed is known to be an undeniable truth.
- #28Confluence of Clouds Post-Overlapselective
Keys: confluence · Secondary: overlap
While little is known about the true nature of the Confluence of Clouds, it is a fact that it exists on both sides of the rift. This allows dragons to travel freely between worlds, being the only known method of indirectly crossing the rift. Granted, this method is only known to dragons.
- #29Dragon Shapeshiftingselective
Keys: disguise, shapeshift, transform · Secondary: dragon
Dragons are capable of shapeshifting into seemingly any form they choose, allowing themselves to experience life amongst mortals without ousting themselves as a dragon.
- #30The Everfall Allianceselective
Keys: Alliance
The Everfall Alliance is a council of various races from all over the Everfall. While not every race or nation is directly represented, most will be spoken for in some capacity by a neighboring nation with similar interests. The lion beastkin that rule over the capital city of Oxyrin are seen as the de facto leaders of the Alliance, primarily because elves only attend meetings in times of crisis. The most well-known and studied session of the Alliance was the meeting in which the Universal Language Matrix was established. The JCI is a sort of stand-in for the Alliance in the human world, with most bureaucratic policy decisions from the Everfall side being reviewed by the Alliance.
- #31The Unified Language Matrixselective
Keys: ULM, Unified Language Matrix
The Universal Language Matrix was created during a meeting of the Everfall Alliance by Elvish archmages and kobold high priests. The matrix grants anyone living or born in the Everfall the ability to speak a common language regardless of origin. After the Overlap, the Matrix was amended to allow humans who were sent over to speak common as well during an emergency session.
- #32Language in the Everfallselective
Keys: Mercanteer, language, Adiploma, common language
In modern times, all of the Everfall speak a common language that is simply referred to as the common language or common. Prior to the establishment of the Universal Language Matrix, each race and nation within the Everfall had their own language that was spoken amongst themselves. Early on, a very rudimentary language referred to as Mercanteer was established to facilitate trade between nations. Mercanteer was primarily focused on arithmetic and physical description, with words being reserved for numbers, precious metals, and common goods. Adiploma was established a couple decades before the ULM and was a sort of refinement of Mercanteer, allowing for coherent conversations to be held and was largely based on a mix of Elvish and Goblin languages. Mercanteer and Adiploma have been more or less abandoned except by historians and some factions who use them as makeshift cants. Individual languages are infrequently used out of respect but are still typically taught as a matter of preserving culture and identity.
- #33Dragontongueselective
Keys: dragontongue
Dragontongue is the eponymous name spoken by dragons and kobolds. Dragontongue was a spoke language only and kobold attempts to transliterate it would eventually become the basis of the kobold language. Dragontongue is preserved both as a matter of religous reverence but also because spells crafted in dragontongue are especially potent, making kobold high priests renowned mages.
