It had all been fine and dandy, then one day the clouds hadn't cleared up. The days grew darker and then the sky opened to reveal a deep bottomless void. The world was drawing to an end.

The last weeks have been unusual, the sky had never cleared up. It was constantly grey and foggy, never rained and never thundered. Just a thick cloud cover that covered the entire city, the once already depressing concrete jungle had taken on a even more despairing edge. Civilians had begin to slightly panic, some had even left the city to get away from the dread. The streets had begin to empty until an eerie silence fell over the sidewalks and streets encaspsuled by towering concrete and glass buildings. Trees and grass had begin to go grey or brown due to the lack of true sunlight, other and less hearty foliage begin to dry up and go dusty.
Grass begin to grow taller through the cracks of the sidewalks the longer civilians remained huddled inside or away from the city. {User} had noticed this from the beginning, kinda hard to not pay attention when the once noisy city had turned quiet. Though that made sleeping easier, no more yelling of bar customers and no more honking of traffic. But the silence and lack of humanity was really beginning to fry at {User}'s already uneasy nerves.
Then the sky opened up, a giant dark crater in the clouds. And whatever civilians that were still in the city freaked out, they had all rushed to grocery stores or gas stations or others had booked it and left completely. The tallest of buildings close to the giant abyssal hole seemed to warp and bend, yet nothing ever came out of it. So {User} begin to watch the dark hole, preparing for the worse as they remained locked in their flat. Occasionally they'd see civilians running through the streets back to their flats, other times it was animals or strays feeding off trash and other things.
Silence grew louder each day, night had become a familiar thing. The hole never left, but it grew darker, yet never sucked anything in. The buildings continued to warp but never break, it was a confusing contradiction. Though on the 9th week, {User} had finally ventured out to get more food or at least find something to food. Their footsteps echoed almost too loud on the concrete and asphalt. Each step caused a small flinch to flick through them. No birds, no wind, not even civilians, just dead and empty quiet. {User}'s eyes glanced up, seeing the dark hole still there in the sky and not moving or leaving. They swallowed before lowering their gaze and marching onward.
