Xadia is the land comprising the eastern part of the continent. It is a land rich in magic. Everything in Xadia bears a connection to one of the six Primal Sources, every creature, plant, tree, even the earth itself. The most intelligent of the magical creatures, the elves and the dragons, rule over the harmonious races of Xadia. Each elven race has their own territory inside Xadia. 5000 years before the birth of Azymondias, Xadia was formed by the First Elves, followed by the rise of the city of Elarion. 2000 years later, the Archdragon Shiruakh battled the Startouch Elf Laurelion, which resulted in their deaths and the creation of the Nova Blade. 1800 years later, the Archdragon Sol Regem became the first known King of the Dragons, succeeded by Luna Tenebris only 200 years later, the same era the Mage Wars took place. Originally, Xadia was still one land that encompassed the entire continent. Elves were neither allied nor divided by their Primal Sources. Humans suffered during this time, however, this changed with the rise of Elarion 2000 years before the birth of Azymondias, when they had discovered and used dark magic, which harnessed the magic from magical creatures themselves, killing them in the process. On the decision of Sol Regem, the city of Elarion was burned down in return for Ziard's refusal to give up the forbidden knowledge. Terrified by the threat of dark magic, the elves and the dragons drove all of the humans to the western half of the continent 1000 years ago, which became known as "Judgement of the Half-Moon", due to being an order of Luna Tenebris, the new Queen of the Dragons, who decided to spare the lives of the humans after some convincing from the daughter of an elven leader. The continent was then divided by a churning river of molten lava to keep the Human Kingdoms and the lands of Xadia apart from one another. After Luna Tenebris mysteriously died, the Archdragons of Xadia, including Domina Profundis, Rex Igneous, and Avizandum, fought bitterly to replace her as the next monarch in line, as she lacked a suitable heir. To prevent violence between the dragons from escalating, the trusted and wise Sunfire Queen of the time, Queen Aditi, stepped in to guide them to the right decision. However, before this decision could be reached, Queen Aditi went missing, leading to the elves believing that the dragons had slain their beloved queen, which sparked an uproar for war. This was when the Orphan Queen discovered the meddling of the Startouch Elf Aaravos, one of the Great Ones, to be the root of multiple crises the world had to suffer through. Eventually, Avizandum succeeded Luna Tenebris and became the new King of the Dragons, rising to power 300 years before the birth of Azymondias. During his reign, Aaravos was punished for his crimes and locked away into a magical prison through a collaborative effort of both the Archdragons and elves. Approximately 10 years before the birth of Azymondias, a group of humans led by King Harrow of Katolis invaded Xadian territory on a mission to kill and harvest the heart of a Magma Titan, which allowed his advisor Viren to perform a dark magic spell that put a permanent end to a great famine across Katolis and Duren. However, their intrusion did not go unnoticed by Avizandum, who attacked and took the lives of Annika, Neha, and Sarai in the progress. Although wishing for peace at first, Harrow was convinced by Viren years after to seek revenge for the loss of his beloved wife Sarai, leading to yet another trip into Xadia, to the Storm Spire, where the nest of the Dragon King lies. Using a weapon enchanted with dark magic, the two humans struck down Avizandum, petrifying him and taking his life. Due to assuming his son might one day seek revenge for his father, the egg of the Dragon Prince was forcefully taken and presumably destroyed. Four moons after these events, Zubeia, Avizandum's mate and the reigning Queen of the Dragons, ordered the assassination of King Harrow and his son Prince Ezran, executed by trained Moonshadow Elves. They, however, failed to kill the young prince. One of these elves, Rayla, discovered the lost egg of the Dragon Prince alongside the two princes Callum and Ezran, swearing to return it to its mother, as it could promise peace for Xadia and the Human Kingdoms at last. While the group was on their journey to return the egg, the clash at the Border intensified, as the Standing Battalion of Katolis defended the Breach against a troop of Sunfire Elves. However, the humans failed in protecting their only fortress within Xadian territory. Seeing no other way but to block the elves' path into the Human Kingdoms, the Breach was eventually destroyed by General Amaya. Meanwhile, Viren, who had become allied with the infamous Startouch Elf Aaravos, strove to put everything in motion for a final and fatal attack on Xadia, hoping for humanity to emerge as the victor once and for all. As the temporary ruler of Katolis, Viren allied with Prince Kasef of Neolandia, whom he marched into Xadia with, targeting Lux Aurea. There, the allies overran Queen Khessa, who was murdered by Aaravos after he and Viren corrupted the Sunforge, Lux Aurea's nexus, allowing their soldiers to be enchanted with Sun magic. The army marched towards the Storm Spire once again, where they faced Team Zym, who had by then successfully hatched Azymondias, the Prince of the Dragons, and returned him to his home. Together with plentiful helpers such as the army of the Sunfire Elves led by Janai, a pack of Fire Dragons led by Pyrrah, the support of Duren, and other friends, Xadia reigned victorious over the foreign threat. Finally, the newly allied humans and elves faced the Dragon Queen Zubeia, who had fallen into a deep slumber due to the sorrow of losing both her mate and her egg. Now finally awakened again, the queen was overjoyed to learn that there may be a future for elves and humans to live in peace again. The peace was eventually threatened with Aaravos's plan to liberate himself from his imprisonment. Despite everyone's best efforts, the Fallen Star was freed and intended to create an Eternal Night to destroy Xadia and avenge his daughter Leola. However, the Archdragons sacrificed themselves to destroy Aaravos's physical body, sending him back to the heavens until his stars align with Xadia again in seven years. However, the Archdragons sacrificed themselves to destroy Aaravos's physical body, sending him back to the heavens until his stars align with Xadia again in seven years. Callum is the Prince and High Mage of Katolis, currently possessing a stable connection to the Sky and Ocean Primals. He is the adopted son of King Harrow, the son of Queen Sarai and her first husband Damian, the step-grandson of King Atticus, the nephew of Amaya, and the older maternal half-brother of Ezran. Along with Ezran, Bait, and Rayla, he returned the Dragon Prince, Azymondias, to his mother, the Dragon Queen Zubeia, to establish peace between the humans and the inhabitants of Xadia. Two years later, he regrouped with his friends and embarked on a quest to stop the liberation of Aaravos, followed by successfully uniting to fully rid the world of the Startouch Elf Archmage for seven years and nineteen days. He is currently in a relationship with Rayla, and the two have a daughter, Sarai II. Callum is a slim boy with a light complexion and rosy cheeks. He has round, olive green eyes and thick eyebrows. As a teenager, his thick, dark brown hair was kept at neck-length, with a big chunk lying onto his forehead, and messy strands stood up at the top of his head. His main set of clothing consisted of a maroon undershirt with lighter red designs, tucked back by a black belt with a silver buckle, and was topped by a dark blue, long-sleeved jacket. He wore baggy, dark gray trousers and dark brown boots with purple accents. His accessories of choice were brown finger-less gloves and a red scarf, which are still present in his later years. When growing wings through the use of "Manus. Pluma. Volantus." for the first time, the transformation ripped apart his jacket, leaving him with just his sleeveless shirt and scarf. Callum always carried a satchel containing his cherished sketchbook. Two years after the battle at the Storm Spire, Callum's hairstyle has changed to be brushed to the left side of his head in a messier fashion. His attire switched to a tightly-fit, turtlenecked chest piece that separates into two sections at the front around the level of his hips, and is colored in a mix of blue, red, brown, and golden seams. The blue part of this chest piece sports a pattern in a slightly lighter hue. A brown belt with a golden buckle holds a sachet on its right side, as well as Callum's spellbook. His black sleeves fully cover his arms and are equipped with shoulder pads, as well as two golden bracelets around each wrist. He also wears a pair of high brown boots over black pants. His fingerless gloves and red scarf are also still part of his attire of choice, while the latter is not always worn. After using dark magic against Aaravos, he gained a bit of a white streak in his hair. Some time after the Battle of Lux Aurea, Callum has grown a beard, and his hair has become slightly longer. His clothing is a mix of Moonshadow Elf and Katolan styles, and his hair color has changed to black. As a child, Callum wore a dark blue shirt, held together by a brown belt and a golden buckle, decorated with the symbol of Katolis. Callum loves to make wry jokes and has a bright sense of humor. When suspicious of others, he can come off as rude and untrusting towards them. However, when it comes to the people that he cares about, he takes a more serious approach and is always concerned for their well-being. He is incredibly compassionate and protective of those he cares about, notably Ezran, Rayla, Bait, and Azymondias. Callum knows how to be hospitable towards others, even if he has not known them for long, like when he tried to help Rayla against her seasickness by asking her questions about her home and pushing their boat that had been driven ashore away. According to King Harrow, Callum has a lot of youthful optimism and hope as he tried to convince his stepdad to make peace with the elves, understanding that both sides wanted to survive. He also does not like it when those he cares about are stuck in the past, finding it better to make a mistake, learn from it and move on. Callum is also quite sensitive and respectful to others most of the time. He fell in love with Rayla because he admired her courage, and seeing her heroics actions caused him to do the same by saving her in times of need. When he told Rayla what made her strong and admirable, she kissed him, but he withdrew out of refusal to take advantage of her emotional vulnerability, despite reciprocating her feelings. Callum is loyal to his friends. At the Moon Nexus, he did not want to believe Rayla when she said that Claudia and Soren were planning to spring a trap until she, with the help of an illusion, provided proof of her claim. When Soren reached the Storm Spire after leaving his father and sister behind, Callum did not hesitate to trust him again. Once Viren and Rayla fell off the Storm Spire, he jumped after them and conjured mage wings to save her. Like Rayla and his mother Sarai, he too values the life of other creatures, believing that he along with Ezran has their mother's big heart and with his strong desire to learn primal magic. Callum at first wanted to practice dark magic for how powerful and useful it seemed to be, but after being told by Claudia that it works by killing and using the essence of magical creatures, he became suspicious of it, finding it too easy. After realizing the death toll that it can cause, how unpractical it can be in the long run, and how dangerous it is for the user, he decided it is unethical because killing innocents on purpose is not worth it for any cause. However, he has used it as a last resort, such as when he helped Rayla free the captured Fire Dragon Pyrrah or free himself when captured on Finnegrin's ship let alone planned to make the ultimate sacrifice of sealing Aaravos and dying in the end to save everyone. Callum is also very moral, refusing the temptations of dark magic when confronted with the choice within his dreams while suffering illness due to the corrupting effects of such magic. His stance against using it allowed him to open both his mind and body to the Sky arcanum, displaying an iron will. However, still on his quest to stop Aaravos, Callum also saw how dark magic scarred the nations in more ways than one due to humans only using dark magic in the past, Callum was pushed to follow the steps of those before him or prove his validation to others. More so when he heard of Aaravos's return let alone his mistake Callum was haunted by his dark-side again but still managed to stare down resisting the temptation again. Despite not being born a royal, Callum has the heart of one, putting the desires of others first before his own such as giving up his magical abilities to save Zym and keep everyone's hope alive. Unlike Viren, Callum was able to let go of his revenge and hate as well as his prejudice towards elves after spending a short time with and getting to know Rayla. He is annoyed when she pretends to be human, but ironically, he has the same sense of humor as her. Upon entering Xadia, Callum pretended to be an elf and made humorous remarks about the behavior of elves. After reading his step-father Harrow's letter, his moral code grew even stronger where he did not only keep it in the terms of dark magic but in other situations such as when interrogated by Finnegrin about the dark magic spell that slew Avizandum so the pirate mage could slay Domina Profundis, Callum refused to give it not letting the Archdragon of the Ocean die the same way as the Dragon King. Once more, when facing Runaan's imprisonment in Katolis, despite knowing the assassin killed his stepfather but due to Callum pouring out his feelings sooner than Ezran as well as thinking with a clear mind remembering that Viren was the true culprit to everything that happened and that Harrow's words were true as mistakes of the war were done on both sides. Until Callum discovered his affinity with magic he had little confidence in himself and felt that there was no princely field he was good at, including combat, politics, and etiquette. When he temporarily lost the ability to cast magic he felt adrift to a point of despair, as it defines him in a way that nothing else quite had. However, in his journey to understand the Sky arcanum he concluded that, magic or not, he would get to be the one to decide who he becomes. After this realization, and when he woke up from his dark magic induced coma, he was substantially more confident and assertive than before. Through learning magic, he learned perseverance and patience. He also found out the hard way to never cast a spell you do not know how to finish and gained a new perspective for understanding primal magic. However, upon learning of Aaravos's motivations and plot to use him, Callum's perspective for understanding primal magic has changed a bit, as he grew afraid of what the Archmage might make him do, and started to believe that his desire for learning magic might put him on a path of darkness. Believing that he is starting to think like Viren, thinking of solutions that are noble but short-sighted, Callum asks Rayla to kill him as he wants his loved ones protected should he fall under Aaravos's influence again. But on the team's quest to find Aaravos's prison as a precaution Callum also looked for a way to stop the Startouch Elf filled with hope he sought the Nova Blade and use it before the Archmage can take control of him again. When Kosmo told Callum that he could get rid of the darkness in his heart, even though he was not on the better situation mentally, he still had hope and accepted to do it. And he was right to be afraid, Callum had seen that Aaravos had one final trick using the love he and Ezran had for each other against them placing them in a situation where it resulted in anyone dying either way but it was prevented by the Archdragons. Ezran is the King of Katolis, the son of King Harrow and Queen Sarai, the younger maternal half-brother of Callum, the nephew of Amaya, the grandson of King Atticus, as well as a descendant of the Orphan Queen. Along with Callum, Bait, and Rayla, he returned the Dragon Prince, Azymondias, to his mother, the Dragon Queen Zubeia, to establish peace between the humans and the inhabitants of Xadia. Two years later, he regrouped with his friends and embarked on a quest to stop the liberation of Aaravos, followed by successfully uniting to fully rid the world of the Startouch Elf Archmage for seven years and nineteen days. Ezran is a young human boy with light brown skin and wide, light blue eyes. He has a round nose, freckles spotted across his cheeks, and thick eyebrows. On his head grows a fluffy, dark brown afro, which extends mainly upwards and does not grow much further than past his neck. As a child, he wore a red, long-sleeved shirt adorned with gold accents, a brown belt with a gold buckle, dark brown trousers, and dark gray and brown boots. When acting out his role as the new King of Katolis, he wore a dark red cape with white fur sown into it over his shoulders, as well as the Katolian crown that he inherited from his father. Two years later as a tween, Ezran wears a shirt and pants closely resembling that of his father Harrow, as well as a silver crown forged from Harrow's sword. His hair is no longer styled as voluminously, instead is combed back at the front and tied back into an Afro puff. On his back he carries a brown bag equipped with several buttons, including a pair of wings centering the Moon Primal's symbol, a unicorn, Zym's broken egg, the uneven towers of Katolis, a flag with the letters "EZ", as well as an Archangel Lunaris. Additionally, the shoulder straps of his bag possesses three buttons that represent a Banther, a jelly tart, and the crest of the Standing Battalion. Seven years after Aaravos was sent to the heavens, Ezran still wields the Nova Blade. He is taller with a goatee and split pencil mustache. He also is dressed mainly in black with a cape that appears to be made from Zym's hair. Ezran is a compassionate boy and a pacifist. He is described as brave and strong by Rayla, which was evident when he risked his life to save the unhatched Azymondias by diving into an icy lake to rescue his egg after Rayla had accidentally dropped it into the water. He is also known to be selfless, as he often puts others before his own needs. Knowing neither Zym nor his kingdom would be safe until the Dragon Prince was returned to Xadia and peace would be established, Ezran decided to go home to take his place as the rightful king to play his part. According to Corvus, Ezran had already shown more courage, strength, and grace most kings have shown in their lifetime during his short reign. Like his father, he is caring and considerate towards the people of Katolis, not wishing for anyone innocent to fight in a war that can be prevented. However, Ezran is aware that he can not be the king his father was, instead deciding to forge his own path, one that was not determined by the mistakes and history of the past, as his father had wished for him. Due to being an outcast in his childhood, Ezran generally feels more comfortable around animals, as he finds it easy to see things from their point of view and has developed a certain level of empathy, which allows him to understand their feelings and thoughts. His love for animals also grants him the instinct to rescue them from danger. However, such compassion can sometimes cause him and his friends to make dangerous enemies. Ezran tends to be more truthful, trusting, and honest than Callum, which was shown when he wanted to tell their aunt Amaya the truth about their quest. He is not bound to prejudice like his father and was quick to put aside any negative claims made about elves by other humans. Despite all his strengths, Ezran's innocence and kind heart come with a naivety that tends to become dangerous for him. Because of his naive personality, he did not suspect Soren's aim to kill him in a zip-line he had built, until the suspicions were proven by an illusion cast by Lujanne. He was also willing to give Viren a second chance, although it could have resulted in his death if Soren had not intervened and if Viren would not have turned out to be a decoy. Despite his pacifism, Ezran does have his limits and is capable of holding grudges. For example, he refused to forgive Viren for his atrocities against Xadia and the Human Kingdoms even after the latter turned himself in. His grudging worsened after Sol Regem attacked Katolis, which made him put a hit on Sol Regem and later struggled to forgive Runnan for the death of his father. The destruction of Katolis and King Harrow's assassination all took a heavy toll on Ezran, as he became darker in personality, being more serious, stern, cold, short-tempered, and even vengeful. His hatred towards Runaan, and due to being consumed with anger and vengeance along with his decision to have him executed, consequently caused him to not think straight and he ended up straining his relationship with not only Rayla but also Callum, who later betrays Ezran to help Rayla escape with Runaan to the Silvergrove. Ezran was left shocked and hurt by his brother's betrayal, and this experience caused him to also hold a bitter grudge against Callum, whom he now saw as a traitor to not only Ezran but to all of Katolis. Later, however, following the Archdragons' sacrifice, Ezran ultimately realized that he and Callum really needed each other and this drove him to reconcile with his brother, rekindling their relationship. In addition, he came to realize the consequences of his actions regarding Runaan and this led him to finally pardon him, which allowed him to restore his friendship with Rayla. In the end, Ezran went back to being his old and optimistic self and he sought to lead his people to a new beginning, as evident when he initially confused his council over his refusal to rebuild Katolis only to then encourage them to build anew, which they happily accept. Moreover, he sought to reunify the Human Kingdoms and Xadia by partaking in the construction of Evrkynd so that humans and Xadians can co-exist together in peace and unity. Rayla is a Moonshadow Elf originating from the Silvergrove. She is the daughter of Tiadrin and Lain, and was raised by Runaan and Ethari while her parents were on duty serving the Dragonguard. She used to be the youngest of a former band of assassins sworn to protect Xadia, as the fastest and strongest of all of her comrades, though she lacks a desire for war and unnecessary bloodshed. Rayla was also titled "The Last Dragon Guard", having followed in the footsteps of her parents in protecting the Dragon Prince. Along with Callum, Ezran, and Bait, she returned the Dragon Prince, Azymondias, to his mother, the Dragon Queen Zubeia, to establish peace between the humans and the inhabitants of Xadia. Two years later, she regrouped with her friends and embarked on a quest to stop the liberation of Aaravos, followed by successfully uniting to fully rid the world of the Startouch Elf Archmage for seven years and nineteen days. She is currently in a relationship with Callum and the two have a daughter, Sarai II. Rayla is thin and willowy with shoulder-length white hair, light skin with a lilac undertone, and purple/violet eyes that have indigo tear-like elven markings underneath them. As a Moonshadow Elf, she has dark violet horns and pointed ears that peek out from underneath her hair. Originally, she wore a braid on the right side of her head, which was later shot off by an arrow shot by one of Amaya's soldiers. She usually wears a form fitting teal and navy bodysuit secured by a black vest, dark brown straps, and a dark brown belt embellished with a silver brooch. The outfit is topped off with thigh-high navy blue boots and bracers. As a sign of her pledge to kill Prince Ezran, she briefly wore two indestructible assassin's binding on her wrists. The one on her right wrist came off when harrow was slain. The one on her left wrist which caused her hand to swell and began to show signs of necrosis from the lack of blood flow, following her refusal to kill him. It was eventually bitten off by Azymondias. Two years after the battle at the Storm Spire, Rayla's hair has been tied back into a bun at the back of her head, while a braid is wrapped around her scalp. Two large strands of hair frame her face and are parted at the center of her forehead. She is dressed in a short-sleeved, purple shirt with a turtleneck that tops a dark purple centerpiece decorated with white lines. A dark, hooded coat hangs from her shoulders occasionally and is held together by a Moon pin. Her lower arms are covered with tight, blue bracers, while her feet are protected by brown boots and white bandages. Her leggings are colored in a light blue. Additionally, brown belts wrap around her waist, chest, and right leg, the latter securing a leather pouch in place. Some time after the Battle of Lux Aurea, Rayla has grown her hair out. Her horns are also longer. As a child, Rayla's face markings extended over her eyebrows, while they are now only present underneath her eyes. She would sometimes style her hair in braided pigtails, likely something Ethari liked to fix for her. Rayla is generally kind and compassionate, as well as a loyal friend and ally. She has a good sense of humor but can also be a bit judgy/suspicious or skeptical of people she does not fully know. She will do everything in her power to protect those in need, even if it means placing herself in harm's way or leaving those she loves behind. Even though she does not have the drive to kill, Rayla does have the dedication of an assassin to the point of being pridefully stubborn, as she was willing to die while defending Zubeia and Azymondias from Viren making up for her parents' past "mistake". Despite her natural skills for the profession of an assassin, Rayla lacks the hardness needed to take the life of those who did not harm herself or others, as they do not pose a threat in her eyes. One of these times was when she was tasked with killing Marcos but found herself unable to kill him, feeling empathy for him once seeing the fear in his eyes. Instead, Rayla was willing to lie to cover her tracks and protect herself and others, returning her allies' camp with berry stains on her dual swords, deceiving Runaan by mimicking bloodstains. As such, she used to struggle to balance the duty to her kind and Xadia against her own moral beliefs. Rayla has a strong sense of justice and, like Callum, has a sense for the morally right thing to do, immediately abandoning her mission to kill Ezran after discovering that the Dragon Prince was alive. She was also able to let go of her hate, anger, and prejudice towards humans after spending time with the princes learning that not all humans are bad. Even to Sol Regem, she described Callum as a wonderful human, despite the fact that most elves consider humans cruel and horrible. Rayla also has a sarcastic sense of humor, as she is quick to make witty or snarky remarks, much to the chagrin of others. Like many elves, Rayla possesses a sense of arrogance and sometimes makes tactless comparisons on humans and her people, which sometimes annoys her friends. She is also a bit of prankster at times, as shown when she playfully asked Callum if he was taught any new spells, as well as when she got him to smell a fart flower. She also finds it humorous to pretend to be human and to recite their stereotypes. Ironically, she has the same humor as Callum, but was annoyed when he pretended to be an elf. She also does not like to fit in, finding it boring, and considers it more pleasurable to stand out. Rayla is very cunning, clever and has good instincts when it comes to suspecting something about enemies, such as when she pinched herself with a rose when Soren and Claudia used a sleeping spell on her, and when she knew Soren tried to kill Ezran with a badly built zip line. Rayla also tends to disguise herself as a human to explore human villages without raising suspicion. Rayla despises dark magic, as she knows its true nature and the consequences of using it. She can also come off as mean and harsh towards anyone who uses it as she was quick to blame Callum, despite being friends, for his corruption and sickness upon using the dark art. This means that, like the princes' mother, Sarai, she too values the life of other creatures. However, she is forgiving and means it honestly, as with Callum when she was worried about him after using dark magic left him unconscious. She used to be a little self-righteous when accusing Callum of using dark magic, even though it was the only way to save her life, and the life of the Fire Dragon Pyrrah. With her kind growing up alongside dragons, Rayla seems to hold a deep respect for them, generally showing to be protective of Azymondias, risking her life to free the wounded Pyrrah, as well as doing whatever she can to protect the weakened Zubeia and her son from Viren. Rayla is also a bit sensitive because of her knowledge of what humans think of her kind, though she knows that the truth is the opposite. When Callum told his aunt Amaya that she is a bloodthirsty monster in sign language, she was briefly hurt by what he said. When he asked about her parents, she originally stated that they were dead, but corrected that she wished they were after failing their duties in serving the Dragonguard. Repeated incidents led to Rayla becoming extremely sensitive to the point of breaking down in tears when she was banished from her home. She started to believe that she was a failure until Callum told her otherwise. With that sensitivity, Rayla is reluctant in revealing her feelings or opening up to others, especially when she is in bad shape, building up a tough façade, pretending to be unapproachable and violent to keep others away from her, and does not pronounce serious threats. Rayla will often prefer to think or fight her way out of situations using irrational methods, as shown when worst came to worse when they were dealing with Sol Regem, where she said that she would finally have to use her least favorite method of getting out of trouble: reasoning with others. After the battle at the Storm Spire, Rayla seems to have developed a form of post-Traumatic stress disorder, noticeable through reoccurring nightmares of her loved ones being captured and frozen by Viren. Haunted by the memories of him, she finds herself tortured by the idea that he might still be alive and pose a threat to the only family she has left. Despite her best efforts, her insecurities and lack of closure regarding her family overwhelmed her to the point where she became distant from everyone, even Callum, and broke down in tears after having her worst fears confirmed. Not wanting any more people she cares about getting hurt, she became determined to take Viren down once and for all, though believes it is for the best to undergo this task alone, unable to bear the idea of getting Callum further involved and possibly being taken from her as well. Azymondias, nicknamed Zym, is a young Storm Dragon and an Archdragon of the Sky originating from the Storm Spire inside Xadia. He is the son and successor of King Avizandum and Queen Zubeia. His egg had once been believed to have been destroyed shortly after his father was killed by both Viren and King Harrow. However, upon discovering his egg unharmed, Team Zym (which consisted of Rayla, Callum, Ezran, and Bait) eventually returned the young prince to his mother at the Storm Spire. Two years after his return to the Storm Spire, Zym regrouped with his friends to embark on a new quest to prevent the liberation of Aaravos, which was completed after his parents sacrificed themselves to destroy the fallen Startouch Elf. Zym is then set to become the next King of the Dragons. Azymondias is a young Storm Dragon, a quadrupedal kind of dragon with two large wings on their backs, sharing visible resemblance to his parents. Like his father, Avizandum, he is covered in light blue scales, while a thick and fluffy white mane grows around his head, and six horns protrude from between the hair. The membranes of his wings, as well as the scales of his underbelly, are colored in a darker blue. A row of light blue spikes line over his back and tail. Lighter, freckle-like spots decorate the outer ring around his big eyes. His irises appear in a saturated shade of blue, which are more similar to that of his mother, Zubeia, while his sclera are appearing in a tint of yellow. His feet are equipped with sharp, white claws, and a tuft of white fur grows from the tip of his tail. Two canine teeth are visible at the front of his long snout. As a hatchling, Zym was about the size of a small dog, only slightly larger than a Glow Toad. Two years after the battle at the Storm Spire, Azymondias's body has become lankier, with long legs, and bigger wings. He had also grown three bumps on his nose like his parents. Overall, his general appearance remained the same, though he now reaches up to the shoulder height of a teenage human. His horns have grown larger, with their tips taking on the darker color of his mother. The spikes on his back have also grown darker in color. No longer a baby, his eyes have also become smaller in comparison to the rest of his head. Seven years after Aaravos was sent to the heavens, Zym has grown much larger, with a size comparable to that of Pyrrah. Despite him majorly resembling his parents, his horns have become jagged and more lightning-like in shape, and the spikes on his back have grown more prominent. From the day he was born, Zym has been very playful and highly inquisitive, as well as sweet and goofy. He quickly formed an attachment to Bait and Ezran after the two helped him to adjust to his surroundings and quickly became a cuddly and trusting child who enjoys to show his affection. Zym is also empathetic, able to sense Rayla's pain when almost losing her hand to her Assassin's Binding, causing him to act in chewing the harmful artifact off of her. Unlike other dragons, Zym is sympathetic towards humans, due to his attachment to them at an early age. Because of this, Callum described him to have a tender heart. He also likes to express himself through body language, happy yips and frolicking, and licking faces affectionately. He is also described as curious, tentative, and bold in equal measures. Zym is very affectionate and loyal to those who protect him, though also easily disappointed when separated from his friends, like when Ezran left to return to his throne in Katolis. As he has not been alive for very long yet, he easily frightened by those that mean harm, such as Claudia and Soren who tried to capture him, or Nyx who tried to abduct him. Despite negative experiences with Claudia and Soren, Zym does not seem to hold grudges, which was shown when he prevented Pyrrah from killing Soren. As a young dragon, Zym is still intimidated by the unknown or overwhelming, such as seeing the statue of his petrified father or seeing his mother for the first time. He was eventually able to overcome his fears and courageously tried to wake up his mother with little success. When his mother did awake, he was filled with joy. The two nuzzled each other with love and he zipped around her happily. As Zym was often exposed to many dangerous situations, he started to eventually become braver and began to fight back whenever someone would harm him, electrocuting Nyx when she kidnapped him, and trying to stand up to Viren when attacked. At 2 years old, Zym has become stubborn and willful. He displays a rebellious streak, such as refusing to eat the vegetables Ibis tried to feed him, wandering off in Katolis on his own, as well as sneaking out to be with his friends after he was told to stay in the Storm Spire. Zym had also become more courageous and selfless, since he would not hesitate to risk his life to protect his friends by using his electric powers to draw the attention of the aggressive earthen creatures of Umber Tor away, electrocute the stomach of a hungry and large sea creature, temporarily blind Karim and Miyana's subordinates, and taking down restless spirits. Zym also honors the memory of his deceased father, as he is willing to stand in to defend him and to attack Rex Igneous with immense anger when the much larger Archdragon started to slander Avizandum. Zym was distraught when both of his parents decided to sacrifice themselves to defeat Aaravos and to protect him, but came to accept that Callum, Ezran, and the rest of Team Zym are also his family. Aaravos is a "fallen" Startouch Elf Archmage known as the "Fallen Star" who was trapped inside a magical prison, visible through an enchanted looking glass, by the Archdragons and elves of Xadia for secretly orchestrating world crises for a thousand years after the death of his daughter Leola. He was one of the First Elves who lived inside Xadia and calls himself the last of the "Great Ones". He is also the one who gifted dark magic to humanity. After his physical form was destroyed by the combined efforts of Avizandum, Zubeia, and Domina Profundis, Aaravos currently resides in the heavens, awaiting the time when his stars will realign in seven years and allow him to return to Xadia. Aaravos is a handsome Startouch Elf with two tined purple horns, midnight blue skin, and long, layered white hair. He has narrow, upturned eyes with black sclera, and his yellow irises can sometimes appear as lilac or pink depending on the lighting. He sometimes wears a black cloak with the deep magic symbol on its hood. His skin gets darker in color across his torso and down his arms before lightening once more. He has a black star marking on his chest which is surrounded by a white hued marking, as well as star markings of the same hue across his face and hands. These star markings are broken up into two layers of design: diamond patterns just below his eyes and a splash of smaller markings that give him the appearance of being freckled, making him look very young despite being approximately 5000 years old. His eyes sometimes glow white when performing magic. Originally, parts of his body, his hair, his eyes, his horns, and the star on his chest were illuminated like stars. After becoming a "fallen" Startouch Elf, the lights on his body have faded. His eyes appeared in a bright, pink glow during that time. These markings, however, still illuminate when he is using magic. In his true form, Aaravos towers over every other character, save for his fellow Startouch Elves.[12] He also briefly fashioned a massive spectral staff comprising of Lux Aurea's corrupted Sun Orb and bright energy purple shards as he prepared to usher in an Eternal Night. Aaravos has alternative disguises - elven and human. Each of his elven disguises combine aspects of his race with the others. Aaravos's human disguise has pale skin, gray eyes, and long dark hair. He donned dark robes and carried a wooden staff capable of holding a Primal Stone. In his non-corporeal form, Aaravos resembles a face made of constellations.
