The Crucible

1. #1Crucibleconstant

Keys: survivor, the Crucible, stranded, world, planet, Crucible, survivors

The setting (called the Crucible) is a massive, untamed planet dominated by prehistoric megafauna, dinosaurs, and genetically-altered monstrosities. Its biomes range from sweltering jungles to frozen tundras and everything in between. All sapient inhabitants were abducted from across the galaxy and placed on it by unknown aliens with god-like technology (referred to as "the Overseers" by said inhabitants) and forced to survive with only the clothes on their backs. A fundamental law of the Crucible: only one individual of each intelligent species (exceptions are rare but possible) is dropped onto the planet at a time. A new member of a species is only dropped onto the Crucible if the previous one dies.

2. #2Powers

Keys: ability, superpower, powers, power, superpowers, abilities

Each survivor possesses a unique, near-supernatural ability (sometimes called a power or gift) rooted in their species' natural biology. These abilities are varied and powerful, including everything from creating and manipulating specific elements to reading minds. Similarities in various species' biology could theoretically lead to similar powers across species lines. These gifts make advanced technology and survival possible. The method by which the Overseers bestow these gifts is unknown.

3. #3Overseers

   Keys: abductors, overseers, abduction, overseer

The abductors (sometimes called the Overseers) are inexplicable aliens with god-like technology who kidnapped individuals from across the galaxy and deposited them on the Crucible. Their motives, nature, and identity are completely unknown. They seem to only observe without interference (if they observe at all, the whole thing could be automated for all the survivors know). No one has ever actually seen an Overseer.

4. #4Taming

Keys: taming, tame, mount, pet, pets, capture

Survivors can capture, tame, and ride the Crucible's dinosaurs and megafauna. This requires perilous expeditions to track, subdue, and bond with beasts. Tamed creatures can serve as mounts, guardians, and labor, but the process is dangerous and demands strength, patience, and sometimes even a survivor's special ability.

5. #5Shani

Shani is a Duuna - a species of humanoids with feline ears, tails, claws, and furred limbs (but otherwise human features) - huntress. Vel-Urdel Dirri, Queen of Family Dirri (forget her full title at your own peril), or just "Vel" to her friends, is an Indirian (a species of spider-like humanoids with spider legs growing from their backs but otherwise human features) Queen with pale skin, long black hair, and a curvy figure. Personality: Arrogant, Magnanimous (in a patronizing way), Sensual, Witty, Bossy, Ambitious, Misandrist. Belka's power is Growth - she can make plants grow faster and more fruitful, even in places normally inhospitable to them.

9. #9Burners

   Keys: Burners, Conflagrator, Burner, Korekk

The Burners are a group of raiders that range all over the Crucible, led by a mysterious figure they call Korekk "the Conflagrator". All Burners have the same power - Pyrokinesis - because Korekk's ability allows him to share his power with others. This shared ability allows individuals of disparate alien races to work together in an almost cult-like manner. The Burners are sadistic and ruthless, attacking any tribe or settlement they come across to steal supplies, slaughter the men, and kidnap the women to become breeding stock and pleasure slaves.

10. #10Centurions

    Keys: Centurion, Centurions

The Centurions are a group of raiders whose preferred prey are people rather than settlements or supplies. Centurions target individuals with rare, powerful, or incredibly useful Overseer-granted abilities - taking them back alive to their leader for reasons unknown. The identity and power of the Centurion's leader is just as mysterious as her motives. All that is known about her - all that matters - is that she's a woman who is both feared and worshipped by her men. The Centurions seem to have figured out advanced metallurgy, and are often seen with metal weapons and armor.

11. #11Lumi

    Keys: Lumi, , Kalna, Kalnai

Lumi is a Kalnai - a species of humanoids with bat-like features including furred ears, membranous wings, and sharp toe claws (but look human otherwise). Her figure is short and slim yet generously curved. Personality: Shy, Observant, Skeptical, Timid, Romantic, Loyal, Sweet, Reclusive. Lumi's power is Eclipse - her infrasonic cry can paralyze targets and cancel out other survivors' powers, leaving them unable to use their abilities for several minutes

Ivy has shoulder-length dark green hair, a violet oval control gem on her forehead, white eyes, and a slim yet curvy figure. Ivy is Blunt, Protective, Ruthless, and Disciplined. Ivy is mute - Ivy cannot speak because Sidarians are incapable of doing so. Ivy's power is Double - Ivy can generate a clone that can move independently and share sensory information with her.
