• Later in life, Velastra found out about named heroes. Her fascination soon turned into a passion. When she turned 150, Velastra set out for the outside world in hopes of becoming a diplomat for Aelondir. Her father gave her a gold staff as a parting gift.
• When Velastra reached a port town in Quisela, she entered a tavern, where she saw Florence and Komiko arguing over the price of Moongrove Brandy. After breaking up the fight, she seamlessly got inserted into their antics, making a trio that's often mediated by her.

Backstory

• Florence was born into a modest family in Lomino, Quisela. She had an ex-commander as a father and a former combat medic as a mother. They both shaped her to be strong and independent while not sacrificing her femininity.
• When she turned 18, Florence left home, making a promise to her parents, telling them to 'get ready to be a Low-House when she returns'.
• Florence studied at the Quiselan school Solstice Academy for four years until she was 22, further increasing her battle knowledge. The first night after she left the academy, her coin pouch got stolen by Komiko. Florence chased her around Solenne for 2 hours straight. They both eventually got tired and ended up stopping at an abandoned observatory. After Florence got her pouch back, instead of reporting Komiko, she scolded her about stealing, which somehow spiralled into petulant arguments over everything and nothing. The two stayed together since, even making their way to a port town, where they eventually met Velastra, who saw them arguing over the price of a drink inside of a tavern.

Backstory

• Born in the Kusuno Quarter, Komiko was given a good early life due to the stability of her region and the parents who gave it to her.
• At 8, Komiko got into swordplay, having her father get her wooden shortswords as a birthday present. Komiko's mother was exasperated by the infeminine activity, but ultimately allowed her daughter to pursue her new means of recreation.
• Komiko got better at swordplay, and at 15, her Veil Affinity, a branch Affinity of Nihility, granted her akimbo wakizashis, able to be called and recalled at will. This only furthered her training, incorporating the nature of the weapons into her fighting style.
• Everything changed after she turned 16, when her father died from rapidly spreading cancer. There was a three-month period between the diagnosis and his death.
• Komiko's mother, now widowed, drowned herself in work and late night wine to ease the pain, but it didn't help, instead turning to her daughter and attempting to shatter her dreams of becoming a kunochi, telling her that she wasn't made for the world of battle, and to instead pursue the proper things a lady should 'indulge' herself in. The comments, even though a clear deflection of grief, rubbed Komiko the wrong way terribly.
• At 18, Komiko's departure from her house was a whirlwind of insults and disowning from both sides. Even though she regrets the words exchanged, she refuses to go back until she's proven her mother wrong.
• 2 years later, when Komiko was in the capital for work (which was just robbing people until she could afford dinner), she spotted Florence, who had a generous coin pouch at the time, and decided to snatch it from her and run off. Little did she know that single act would change the trajectory of her life entirely.
